Last year, they gave over $100,000 to about 20 students. The store is staffed by a lovely group of volunteers who take pride in making a difference. They have a wide selection of items from art to clothing, jewelry, and home goods. I found a few cute items and felt good about my purchase as well. The ladies of the Womens' Club of Blowing Rock are gracious, and generous with their time....ALL FOR THE BENEFIT OF HELPING LOCAL STUDENTS GO TO COLLEGE!!! If you are clearing any items from your house, or know of others doing the same, PLEASE consider donating your stuff to this WONDERFUL endeavor. They take used, unwanted items and turn them into displayed magic for a new home. It's so neat to go on their website and see all my cast-offs finding new allure for all the people who come into their shop!! They sell ladies' clothes and shoes and furniture and every other item you can imagine!!!! A friend of ours recently was selling their old farmhouse, and was willing to allow me to "rescue" things from it to donate to the shop!! It was fun, and an adventure, and it is so beautiful to think of how helping this shop, helps some kid ...who might not have a chance to go to college otherwise...start his life in such a positive way!!!!!(Wouldn't it be SO cool to meet this kid 20 years in the future, and hear just how this leg up in the world helped him achieve his/her dreams!!!!! It is well organized with a lot of clothing, household items, furniture, smaller appliances and just general "stuff"- what thrift store people are looking for! My friend and I found some beautiful vintage glass pieces for $8 each! We were very happy. I got my kids a broken, but fun, Millennium Falcon for their kids to play with. Pretty cool! $5!
