Unassuming from the outside, it is a small bakery with plenty to offer in the form of homemade baked goods, as well as some candy thrown in for good measure. We enjoyed their maple pastry and they delicious cinnamon roll. The baker was a bit rearranged from the movie - no big deal - and the service was super friendly and answered our questions on when they came to tape for the movie. It was a fun stop and their baked goods are truly delicious.

As you may know, part of the movie was filmed in Ambridge and this bakery is used in one of the scenes. The main characters visit this bakery and have a Swedish eclair, or Semlor. I was hosting our book club this week and thought it would be fun to pick up some semlors for our treat. I called the day before (not realizing they are closed Sunday-Tuesday) to place an order for 18 semlors. They said it would be no problem to make them for me, even though I only gave them just over 24 hours notice. The bakery was beautifully painted back to how it was originally when it opened many many years ago. There is limited seating (only one small table and two chairs) so it's not really meant to be an eat-in bakery. The semlors were a hit with book club! Everyone enjoyed them quite a bit. They did seem to be a little dry to me. Not sure if we got "day old" semlors or they were just drier than I would have guessed. The filling was delicious and plentiful. Would love to come back and try some other items they have--the giant cookies look so yummy!

I did not need a large, custom order, so I stopped by the business to browse their offerings. I saw two display cases of cakes, bars, brownies, fudges, scones, and cookies, and I saw one refrigerator of cinnamon rolls, banana breads, muffins, etcetera. An employee immediately greeted me, and as I selected my desserts, she carefully placed them in a box for me. She made friendly conversation, accurately rang up my purchase, and kindly thanked me. Here are my reviews for my desserts: Raspberry vanilla cake - $4.25 - 4.5 stars - I bought one slice of white cake that had vanilla frosting and some raspberry filling. The cake was fresh and had tart flavors, and the icing tasted sweet. Cherry pie bar - $3 - 4 stars - This bar contained a top layer of cherries. The flavor of cherries was subtler than I had expected. Apple pie bar - $3 - 3.5 stars - This bar contained a very thin layer of apple. I would recommend adding more apples for more flavor. Lemon pie bar - $3 - 5 stars - This bar had a strong taste of lemon and a nicely crispy crust. Cherry-chocolate scone - $3.25 - 3.5 stars - This scone was a large size. It contained a thin layer of cherries and chocolate chips. 6 various cookies - $5 - I rate the peanut-butter cookie as 4 stars, the sugar-sprinkle cookie as 3.5 stars, the snickerdoodle cookie as 3.5 stars, the chocolate-chip cookie as 3.5 stars, the oatmeal-raisin cookie as 4.5 stars, and the chocolate-cherry cookie as 3.5 stars. Of course, everyone has their own personal taste, but in general, my higher ratings are for the intense flavors.

They clearly forgot the chocolate frosting was supposed to be on the chocolate cupcakes and did not even bother to take them out of the case to fix. There is white frosting smeared on the surrounding plastic case around the chocolate cupcakes, and also a thin layer still on the tops, under the newly placed frosting. I am surprised these used to fulfill my order. First time customer, last time customer.

It was creamy without being heavy, tasted very authentic, and the noodles were homemade. You could tell a lot of care went into it. We also had the pizza bread, which was perfect to share and really well done. They do simple things with really good ingredients and with care from what I gathered I ordered the Dubai chocolate martini and it was really good too. There were a lot of good drink options so I'd imagine there's something for everyone My family had the onion and mushroom soup and loved it as well. Everything that came out was just consistently great. They change the menu often, which I really appreciate, and everything tastes fresh and high quality. You can tell they use good ingredients and actually care about execution. I would absolutely go back and recommend it without hesitation.

We tried to make a reservation but nothing was available. My friend insisted on putting our name on a standby list and the restaurant was extremely excited to call us with a cancellation, which they said rarely happens. I was excited to introduce my friends to this spot! Our party was not the easiest as we have a few dietary restrictions, like one GF person and one vegetarian. We wanted a few of the starters and noticed that getting the antipasto might be the most cost-efficient way. My friend asked if we might have all the meat on one plate and the veggies on another to be considerate of the vegetarian (me) and they nicely accommodated that request. The GF friend was excited to order a Dubai chocolate martini as she thought she would be getting these flavors without the dough she can't have, but it came around the rim and sprinkled in the drink and she had to send it back, which they also quickly accommodated. They also had several mocktails on the menu, really nice options made with NA spirits. I ordered one of these. I usually get the gnocchi here but on this visit they had a pasta special with corn that was like a taste of just-ended summer and I went with that. It was delicious and my friends enjoyed their meals as well. There is a dessert bar next door but service on this night was taking an extremely long time so we didn't get into any desserts. Service on this particular visit was not quite what I've been used to on previous visits overall, and one of my friends mentioned it afterward to the GM who was very accountable and responsive. He had also stopped by to personally check on us during our meal, and it's nice to get a sense that a place genuinely cares about your customer experience. I will continue to come back.

I chose baklava (4 stars, thick layer of nuts), lady lock (4 stars, not quite as good as my mom-in-law's), apricot sourcream (4 stars), snickerdoodle cookie (4.5 stars), and Very Berry Napoleon (5, nicely fruity and sweet). The total price for these five baked goods was $10.46.

To that end, some things here are tastier than others. They highly recommended their Bavarian Cream donut, and it really is filled with a lot of good quality whipped cream. That said, I found the donuts to be squishier than I really like--they don't have a certain fresh-fried crispiness to them. Which is representative--they have good stuff, and a wide selection of Pittsburgh-area classics, it's just not at a super incredible tier of freshness.
