No auction items. Nothing. The only thing remotely "tournament‑like" was the fee they charged. And let's be clear: this wasn't even a fundraiser for a cause. It was "bring your own tiles, sit with your friends, play in our room, and we'll serve you a fair‑to‑mediocre lunch"--a lunch that, as the owner proudly announced, didn't even include a basic cookie for dessert. Stunning. Then came the final insult. My friend's mother, who couldn't attend, had spent two weeks calling and requesting a refund. Repeatedly denied and given the run around. Only after persistent pressure did they begrudgingly offer a food‑only gift certificate--not merchandise--though maybe, possibly, someday, at some undefined later date, they might let her use it in the store. Maybe. But not today. What on earth was this event. I genuinely felt like I had stepped into an alternate universe where professionalism, integrity, and basic hospitality had been outlawed.

They also offer pet-friendly outdoor seating, which is a great option if you're dining with your furry friend. Our waitress, Mackenzie, was fantastic! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out quickly. The service was excellent from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Grit Bowl Special, Chicken & Waffles, Brioche French Toast, and fresh fruit. The chicken tasted just like my grandma's recipe. It was crispy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with their spicy hot honey. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The coffee bar was another highlight! They offer so many specialty drink options, including hot chocolate topped with homemade whipped cream. And don't skip the fresh-squeezed orange juice, it was some of the best we've ever had! What really made this place stand out for our family was how kid-friendly it is. The kids got to draw pictures while we ate, and afterward they were able to hang their artwork in the hallway for everyone to see. They absolutely loved it! There's also a large lounge area in the back with cozy seating and games like Shut the Box and chess, making it a great place to relax while waiting for a table or after your meal. If you're looking for a delicious breakfast, outstanding service, and a family-friendly atmosphere, Lucy in the Rye is definitely worth a visit. We'll absolutely be back, and I highly recommend it!

This diner is located in a back street, next to a market and close enough to a strip mall with restaurants. It's a quiet place although lots of people come in and out. I had a chicken fried steak and my gf had an omelette. Every table around us was busy eating, we were not the only ones who appreciated this food. For a humble place with delicious food, the prices were average. The coffee could use a little help, as well as the A/C, but all in all, it was a win for us hungry bears.

The cinnamon roll was tasty - not too sweet, not too dry, not too moist - but it would have been better if it had been served warm for eat in diners. We ordered a variety of breakfast dishes, including corn beef hash (too salty even for me), calf liver (overcooked and dry), egg plate, and quiche. The egg part of the quiche was good but the crust basically uncooked. Each dish came with a biscuit, which had a great tang but interesting texture more like cornbread or coarse cake than flaky biscuit. The most annoying thing is that our food took 30-45 minutes to come out even though were were the only ones there? With no communication of the wait. They didn't even bring out the premade cinnamon roll as an appetizer until I asked. We were so hangry and were met with disappointing taste to boot. Service was (shy of one saving grace) meh and food was just meh. The menu had several items listed that really could bring this place up a notch. Hubby ordered the duck Cuban which was really good. I had the chicken quesadillas, nothing to write home about. My girlfriend got the Philly and said it was good. I love the brand of chips they serve and especially the jalapeño queso chips. They were out of wings. This is a miss considering how this was one of if not the last weekends of the season to see the leaves change colors, it's going to be busy and wings aren't hard to stock nor do they go to waste at a restaurant/bar. They should've been prepared. The setup is you order at the bar, take your drink and a number to your table and they bring your food. Cool. They bring our food out and my gf asks for napkins and they tell her she's gotta go back up to the deck to get them. Huh? Why didn't they just bring them with the food? We have fresh food in front of us and now have to leave that food to get napkins? Here comes saving grace because as soon as that server made it back to the deck, a different server comes out to our table with a caddy of napkins. She was really cool, and much appreciated! They have a target audience (people coming and going to and from the park) so I guess they don't have to deliver stellar food and service but to miss on both is disappointing. People are making memories with their families. And it wouldn't take much to tighten up and deliver amazing food and amazing service instead of just being convenient. I chose the place for our party of 8 and I felt bad. Thankfully I think everyone was too tired and cold to complain.
