Stopped here for a late lunch on the way from the Smoky Mountains back to Atlanta. It's an old-school roadside southern restaurant. You enter through a touristy gift shop. The food is solid. The fried chicken was seasoned nicely, although the breast was a little dry. The sides we tried: -mac n cheese was just so-so -butternut squash souffle was very sweet, but delicious -fried okra was great -cornbread was decent, cheddar biscuit was pretty good, yeast roll was not as good. -banana pudding for dessert. YES. Best thing we tried. The real deal. The food reminds me of Mary Mac's or Colonnade in Atlanta. Everything is mostly pretty good, everything is entirely un-healthy, and the recipes don't seem to have changed in half a century. Won't knock your socks off (with the possible exception of the excellent banana pudding), but not bad. Service was very friendly and quick. Good value / low prices. Overall a good experience. Perhaps this is the place that inspired the Cracker Barrel concept. Family owned and operated. My roast beef dinner had rich gravy with sautéed mushrooms and came with two sides. My husbands prime rib looked great and he liked it ( didn't offer me a taste ). Our friend had a cold plate of different salads, picked beets, ripe tomatoes that looked good and he really liked. The best spot in Dillard! We tried a few restaurants while we were here and you will love the food at Cupboard Cafe. We went for breakfast and the food was amazing; large portions and the service was extraordinary. Thank you Lisa for treating us like regulars and making our dining experience one to remember. We went here with SO's family for mother's day. I love the little shop up front with everything you can think of. They had some nice smelling candles, stuffed toys(my fav was the stuffed German Shepherd), key chains and other random stuff. We were a party of 8 and while they were setting up our table, we perused the front area. We got seated in ~15 minutes and placed our drink orders. SO got beef nachos and the rest of the table shared the cheese nachos and that was aight. I got the fried grouper with potato salad and rice n gravy. It was just okay. They also have a salad bar but i didnt check it out. It's not a place i would pick to go out to eat if im in the area just because i dont think the food is exceptional. read more

We have always liked it and were going to eat outside, but left when we saw that most were not wearing masks. Beware! They are clearly not following CDC guidelines as they proclaim on their site. I've eaten here for years and always enjoyed the food, atmosphere (great outside deck) and staff. The only reason it's getting 3 stars instead of 5 is because of a bad managerial experience on my last visit where my order was undercooked and took almost 20 minutes to be replaced. At this point I just got the food to go because I didn't have time to eat it there. The Server apologized but there was no effort from the Manager to show any type of empathy. Such a shame and I hope it's not signs of things to come for the Cupboard Café. With that being said in the past it's been a great experience. They have a wonderful eggs benedict and my daughter loves the popcorn shrimp they have on the kids menus (not bad for an adult sized portion of shrimp & side for only 5.99). read more

The hightlight of this place is the fresh salad bar which has a nice selection of fresh peppers, mushrooms, and is above average for the area. The lowlight? Everything else. I was dumb enough to try the Low Country Carbonara (when at a southern restaurant - dont order non southern dishes) the sauce was bland, the shrimp was good, the chicken was average and I've hit a first. I'm not sure if the sausage was sausage or a chopped up hot dog. Needless to say that was the worst $13 pasta dish I've ever had. Ever. My parties Pork roast looked like turkey but tasted like pork, but he said he would give it a 3/10. Another got the Lemon peppered chicken and i had a few bites and it was seasoned to death and not very tasty, even a little overcooked and tough. The coke was good If you're looking for a fresh salad bar and medicore at best food then this place is for you, but it makes me weep that people try this place thinking it's southern cooking in any form If you're also looking for an overpriced general store attached to the restaurant trying to look like a cracker barrel but ultimately falling short. We were passing through and had been looking for a local place for breakfast. The cupboard looked fairly busy - usually a good sign. It turned out to be a great stop! My husband and I split a Western omelet and ordered a side of sausage. Yum! The food was excellent. The reason I gave only four stars was that the prices seemed high. $9.99 for an omelet is a little steep in my opinion. More one omelet, side of sausage and two coffees was $20. Adding a second omelet would have made that a $30 + breakfast. Service was good and very friendly. They also have a gift shop that would have ben fun to browse through if given time. Bathrooms were small but clean. I'd certainly recommend stopping! I bet dinner is great! read more

Good little place. It's has a "Cracker Barrel-ish" feel when you walk in with all the knick-knacks and such. The waitress we had was super friendly! She told us about the Minnehaha Falls, so we made a little stop on our way back to Atlanta area, which was awesome, by the way. The biscuits were fantastic and the coffee was good, but I had the western omelet and it wasn't all that great. It was full of onions and peppers with a little bit of ham, but it was so greasy. The grease was literally pooling out from the omelet onto my plate. The saucer cakes were also a little greasy. It did have a crunch but then the grease oozed out of them like a damp sponge. I wish I had tried something like the French toast or something a little more signature. I would definitely go back to try something else. Their lunch menu did look good though. read more

Been going here for over twenty years, primarily for breakfast. We seek out Mary to be our server - she's the real deal. Friendly, down to earth, great, attentive service without being overbearing. Wide choices for any meal and all good. My husband gets their omelette and I like their corned beef hash. If you are a carnivore you'll love their breakfast meats - Bacon, country ham and house-made sausage. Hard to say which I like better. Coffee always robust but not bitter. Banana pudding to rock your world. As others have said - huge gift shop and also a nice fudge and candies bar to suit any sweet tooth. read more

This place was amazing. We went there for Mother's Day 2021, and even though this place was really busy, we were sat down within 30 minutes. The waitress was extremely friendly. The food was out quick and it was fresh. We've decided this will be one of our go-to restaurants whenever we have guests. Another amazing thing was, as we were paying for something in the gift shop after we ate, the lady at the counter asked us if there was anything that could have made it better. We told her that it was perfect, it literally couldn't have been better, and she seemed so genuinely happy that we were happy with our meal. Went there the other night with friends who recommended it as a local hit. I ordered pork roast and my wife ordered roast turkey dinners. Both dinners arrived stone cold with meats sliced thinner than lunch meat. Sent both back and they just microwaved both plates so we got hot - shriveled micro thin meats with boiling hot cranberry sauce! So disappointing, so unappetizing! read more

We also never got one of the items we ordered at all. The food that I did finally get was so cold that I couldn't even eat it and sent it back. Last Thursday my mother and I met my daughter, her mother-in-law and my baby grandson for breakfast (everyone seemed to be visiting different, yet close locations). The food was delicious and the portions huge (seriously, we could've split 2 meals between the four of us!). My mother had the small fruit plate which was gorgeous AND ginormous- with many different fruits presented in a beautiful manner. She could only eat about 1/4 and took the rest home to dad! Two of us had the Spanish Omelette with creamy and perfectly prepared grits together with a huge soft biscuit. My daughter had scrambled eggs & sausage patties along with home fries. She said it was good, but hard to tell as she was tending to a cranky 3 month old while attempting to eat (yes, we all offered to hold him! He wanted his mama!). The coffee was oh-so-good. . Very wide range on the menu something for everyone here and ample size servings. Their strength is southern food cooked to perfection the chicken and dumplings were the best I've had anywhere outside of what Grandma made, and I would say even better than Cracker Barrel.
