Sliced Pork

Yum! Yum! Yum! This place is FANTASTIC! Loved watching Kyle win Food Network's BBQ Brawl! The food...let's just say there was a lot of meaning and OMGs coming from everyone in the restaurant! They have a great BBQ Sauce Station so you can try all the sauces...but honestly...their bbq does not need sauce!!! Yes, it's THAT GOOD! The sides are just as amazing as their bbq. They run out so come early on the weekends! This is a walk up and order place and then they deliver to your table. They have indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas. It gets a bit loud inside because it is always busy. But that is just part of the charm.

Barbecue Brawl dreams came true! As a huge Barbecue Brawl fan, I was thrilled to find out that Blue Hound BBQ was just minutes away from our vacation spot. Kyle was one of my favorite contenders, and though I hadn't watched the finale yet (my husband and I were waiting to watch it together), I couldn't resist checking out his restaurant while I was in town. We showed up right before opening on Tuesday, and there was already a small line forming, which wasn't surprising since the finale had just aired that Sunday. When we reached the restaurant, I spotted the trophy in the window--spoiler alert: he won! (Don't worry, I kept that info to myself so my husband could enjoy the surprise later.) The restaurant itself is cozy and casual counter service, friendly vibes, and a sauce station with four different barbecue sauces, pickles, and pepper relish. I ordered the two-meat platter with brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage, plus baked potato salad and soup beans. I also had to try the peach cobbler. My daughter ordered the BBQ eggrolls (pulled pork, pimento cheese, and collard greens--SO good!), with mac & cheese, coleslaw, and banana pudding. We also tried the cornbread, pulled pork sandwich, and sweet potato crumble. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The brisket? Perfection... tender, juicy, smoky. The eggrolls? A must-try. The peach cobbler and banana pudding? Sweet, rich, and comforting. The sausage had great flavor but wasn't my favorite texture, just a personal preference and nothing against the recipe. The cornbread is more traditional than sweet (just a heads-up if you're expecting sugary cornbread). And the cherry on top? Kyle was there! We got to meet him and snap a photo, which made the visit even more memorable. If you're anywhere near Dillard, GA--make the trip. This place lives up to the hype. 10/10 recommend!

Simply outstanding. There is a reason why Kyle is in the finale of BBQ Brawl. My stomach was not big enough to eat all of the food on the menu. BBQ egg rolls are to die for. The collard greens in the egg roll and honey to dip them in are a nice touch. The Pork Belly bites are sticky pork goodness. Brisket cooked so well, it just falls apart. If you've seen the show, get the Appalachian Beans. Just don't question it. Mac and Cheese was creamy and delicious. Stop by the BBQ sauce and pickled sides bar. Unfortunately, didn't get to sample the beef cheeks or sausage. The banana pudding has a little hint of cinnamon, or at least my tongue tasted it. Get there early, get there now. I'm sure once he can publicize that he won BBQ Brawl (fingers crossed), there will be a line out the door. I'm rooting for him. We live 2 hours away and would consider a day trip.

We drove almost 5 hours to try Blue Hound BBQ, and while there's no doubt the owner knows how to cook, it felt like too many liberties were taken for efficiency over food quality. Unfortunately, all of the food came out cold. The egg rolls especially were disappointing--they tasted like they'd been fried earlier and left sitting until one side became soggy. On the positive side, the staff was super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They had our food out quickly, which was appreciated after a long trip. I gave this place 2 stars, and that's solely for the friendliness of the staff. The service was great, but the food quality just didn't live up to the hype or the drive.

I have been here a few times I can honestly say I have zero complaints. I talked with someone and they said they had a bad experience and wouldn't be back. That's such a shame because this is definitely the best BBQ I have had. The food is great! The prices are reasonable! And the atmosphere is perfect for our Blue Ridge mountains. Get there on a nice day and get a table outside. Love the bbq sauces station and the smell of the smoker letting you know this place is the real deal.

Three choices of pickled veggies. Loved the cabbage the best.

We watched Kyle win on Barbecue Brawl and were fortunate enough to get to his little place. From Nogales, AZ to Dillard, GA. Totally worth it!! Hubby and I shared a combo plate with smoked turkey, pork ribs, pintos and slaw. Delicious! The smoked turkey was the Bomb! Tender, juicy. The vinegary sauce was delicious-two types served. The pickled cabbage, pickles and onions were great accompaniments. Very helpful service. Cute little place along the highway. Totally worth the trip.

I have had the best BBQ in the country... From Franklins to Lewis and everything in between. Blue Hound has no favor... no smoke, bland brisket and pork. If I am paying high end BBQ prices it wont be on this. A million flies on our indoor table... and I hate chunky stew... the worst... its sad when the mac was the best.

Three meat combo! You can tell how thin and dry the ribs are!

We had our food soon after placing our order. Our bill for two was $52+. We got the 3 meat combo , brisket, ribs and pork belly. Sides were collards, Mac and cheese and the pimento cheese grits. Sadly the best think was the grits. Tea was good. Ribs had good flavor but were the ends and had very little meat and was tough. One slice of brisket and mostly fat. Pork belly, don't even ask. I normally don't leave a bad review but for what we paid we were extremely disappointed. Only giving 3 stars because the kids made up some for the meat!

Wings and pork belly bites,

The pork belly bites here are the best ever, absolutely worth the one-hour drive every time! I love this place. The banana pudding is so good, and the wings, brisket, and sausage were all delicious. I've been three times so far. The first visit was just because I happened to be driving by, but the other two trips were specifically just to come back for the food. Can't wait to go back

Pig cheeks!

Wonderful BBQ! Try the ribs! Sweet potato crunch! And the cornbread! Will say the Brunswick stew has too much vinegar taste! But, some folks like it. Service, I enjoyed speaking with the pit master! Wonderful stories! Great location on 441!

If you're anywhere near Dillard, Georgia--or even if you're not--you need to visit The Blue Hound BBQ Grill. This place is a hidden gem tucked away in far north Georgia, and it's worth every mile of the trip. They opened in June of this year, but they're already making serious waves with their food, service, and atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I noticed the friendly and welcoming vibe. Customers were coming and going, excited to pick up their food, and the regulars were being treated like family. It's one of those places where you can feel the community, even if you're a first-timer. The Space & Parking: The restaurant itself is large and spacious, with plenty of tables. Even during a busy lunch hour, there was no issue finding a seat. Parking? Not a problem at all. They're the only building on this side of the road, so you've got room to park comfortably--none of that cramped, tight parking lot nonsense. The Food: Now, let's get into the important part: the food. If you're like me and prefer BBQ without sauce, you're in for a treat. Their seasoning game is top-notch, and everything I tried was so flavorful that sauce wasn't necessary. That said, they do have a variety of sauces, including one called Brasstown sauce, which is their brisket sauce. Even though I'm usually a no-sauce guy, this one was excellent and worth trying. I went all in and tried a little bit of everything: Turkey: Tender, moist, and packed with flavor. It's not easy to keep turkey from drying out, but they nailed it. This paired well with their brasstown sauce AND their blueberry sauce. Sausage: I'm not typically a sausage fan, but I finished this one. It was that good. Well-prepped and seasoned perfectly. Ribs: The seasoning was so good that I didn't even think about adding sauce. Each bite was packed with smoky, savory flavor. Pulled Pork: Hidden under perfectly toasted bread. It was tender, juicy, and paired beautifully with the sweet bbq sauce. I can only imagine how good their pulled pork sandwich would be. Brisket: My favorite. It was perfectly seasoned, tender, and literally melted in my mouth. I barely used the Brasstown sauce because it just didn't need it--but when I did, it was the perfect match. The Sides: Of course, I had to try the sides. Here's the ranking, from least to most favorite (though they were all good): 1. Baked Beans: Classic and tasty. 2. Mac & Cheese: Creamy, cheesy, and comforting. 3. Collard Greens: The unexpected star of the show. I'm not sure what kind of magic they worked on these greens, but they were some of the best I've ever had. I'm guessing there's some pork fat involved because the flavor was incredible. The Drinks: They've got a self-serve Coca-Cola machine, which was a huge plus for me. I had all the Coke Zero I needed to wash down this awesome meal. Dessert: I was too stuffed to try any dessert, but they do have a few options, including some specials. Next time, I'll be sure to save room because if the desserts are anything like the BBQ, they're going to be amazing. Final Thoughts: The Blue Hound BBQ & Grill is a must-visit spot if you're anywhere near Dillard, GA. Whether you're passing through or looking for a road trip destination, this place won't disappoint. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service makes you feel like part of the family. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! Highly recommend trying the brisket and collard greens--and if you're a sauce person, don't skip the Brasstown sauce. It's a game-changer. Pro tip: Come hungry. You'll want to try everything! The folks at Blue Hound are friendly, the meats are good, and watching people enjoying themselves at Highlands Outpost is lots of fun, too! We have eaten here several times, and also taken food to go when we've got a time crunch. My favorite sides are the collards and cheese grits. Blue Hound's sides are the real deal, not some out-of-the-can stuff. Stop by here; you'll thank me.

Old gas station style bathrooms outside & around the corner. There's a stage for events. Appears to be pet friendly. Nice view of Main Street with shops, desserts & boutiques. The Smokehouse Burger is prepared to order with bacon, fried onion rings, melted cheese, tender, juicy, delicious. The establish was not busy. The tables were sticky and had visible signs of glass rings. For not being busy, it took a considerable amount of time for the food to come out. While my food was very good, the wife had fries that were cold. We were served food without any utensils or napkins. It took 8 minutes for utensils to arrive and one napkin each. We asked for more napkins, which never came. My wife mentioned the cold fries and she was brought another serving of equally cold fries. When we were finished, I asked the server for a couple to go boxes. We received one and had to ask for more; eventually getting one more box. It took an additional 10 minutes to get the check, and another 10 to have it retrieved with the credit card. The neighboring table was also dealing with cold fries.

I noticed the window sign said "Angie's Clayton Cafe" and whilst being seated at 11:45AM on Tuesday June 2, 2026, noted the wall art had changed, no more local memorabilia, and the menu is now a well worn, two sheet pieces of copy paper. No problem, the place was nearing capacity per usual and we did get a window seated table. But, then I noticed, no collard greens on the menu. So, if you read my earlier reviews, you will note that I have eaten at quite a few "meat and three" style country diners and that I also know how to cook this food at home. That's a big qualifier, because Clayton Cafe had become a part of our destination trip to Clayton from Greenville, SC. It was just that good, a notch above the crowd. I didn't find this experience to be the same. The decor, service, ambiance was the same. Even the same crowd starting a 15 minute table wait shortly after noon. Business has not suffered, but the food is not the same. Overall, everything was less flavorful, more bland. The highlight, the white sawmill gravy was piping hot and flowed well, not a gloopy mess and I like that it was served on the side. The country fried steak was tender, but it had less crunch on the crust and was significantly bland - pepper and salt please. The green beans had a small chunk of meat involved, but they too were very bland and lacked a depth of flavor expected from the hamhock, the biscuit was good, but not the buttery crusty biscuit if yore. The okra was straight up flour breading with no cornmeal in the mixture and that's a game changer on this dish. Fried chicken was good. Squash, or squash casserole was a bland mess and left uneaten. Don't get me wrong. This three star rating means "OK". It's still a good meat and three. It's just not an exceptional meat and three as experiences my multiple prior visits. So that's when I asked the server if the restaurant had changed owners and yes, in April 2026. Well, there ya go, but Bon Chance to the new owners and Godspeed towards the hard work and keeping it going. Obviously, a full house lunch crowd on a Tuesday in June shows positive momentum. I'm just saying, pay attention to flavor, both in depth and complexity, to make these Southern standards stand out from the meat and three crowd.

While the food was good, we felt the selection of sides was somewhat limited compared to other barbecue restaurants. Our biggest disappointment was the barbecue sauce. The sauces were very thin, and because of that, they didn't really cling to the ribs. We personally prefer a thicker, richer sauce that stays on the meat and adds more flavor with each bite. Despite those points, we still had a pleasant experience and can see why many people enjoy this spot. Good food, good service, and a solid barbecue stop if you're in the area.
