Mommy and me tea tray
Linda G.

My friends and I had a lovely lunch here - the Mommy and Me tea tray was plenty for all four of us! All the food was yummy, and they have tons of choices for tea. The china place settings are adorable. The servers are learning job skills, so please be patient with them. We took extra time to peruse the thrift shop also. This place is a storehouse of treasures!

What a great little spot and option to help support people of different abilities. This little tea room this located in back if the organization's thrift store. Typical thrift store feel but head to the back and they have a cute little setup for afternoon tea or lunch. They have persons of all abilities helping make the food and serve the food to learn new soft and hard skills and all the proceeds stay with in the organization to help offer more programing. Our server was great and very nice and attentive. The tea trays are huge and filled with half sandwiches and baked goods from a local bakery. It is definitely worth checking out and supporting these individuals. We will be back again.

The staff was lovely, they made my daughter's first tea party a wonderful experience. The staff also always pays very careful attention to my gluten allergy, and they never ever limit me on the options I have just because I have an allergy, which makes me incredibly grateful. I saw many other girls having tea parties and it was such a cute, fun atmosphere. We'll be back again and again.

The tea tray!

Went for lunch and will definitely return. The tea room is delightful in design and decor. The staff are wonderful and the food yummy. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The tea choices are extensive and the pots and serving pieces are lovely. The tea tray provides a bit of everything and was more than either of us could finish. Go boxes to the rescue.

The back two bedrooms each had two or three tables set up elegantly accompanied with it beautifully decorated. My girlfriend decided to get iced tea where I got hot tea and both were excellent ...and then we went for the ultimate set-up that had everything from tea sandwiches to fruits and just enough food for two. Then came dessert. The tea sandwiches were delicious but dessert topped it all off so make sure you don't eat too much beforehand.

The front of Ashes is a boutique that sells some very nice sportswear and casual clothing. The tearoom is located in the back of the shop. It's small but was able to accommodate our group of eight. They started us off with some complementary crackers served with a type of cranberry spreadable cream cheese. For lunch we all chose the tea service which came with a pot of tea, some finger sandwiches and dessert. If you're a tea lover this is your place. They had so many varieties. I had some sort of vanilla (decaf) & it was yummy. The sandwiches are served on a tiered platter surrounded by some fruit. The pimento cheese served on raisin bread was delicious. We also had chicken salad on croissant. There was a little problem with our chicken salad but they took care of it immediately and made us all new sandwiches. Dessert was delicious. A tiny apricot tart, a little lemon scone & a delicious pumpkin type of cobbler. We all had a lovely afternoon celebrating our friend's birthday. They do a mommy and me service too. I recommend this for something different.

The Caffeinated Cat is an AMAZING concept, coffee shop and rescue initiative. I discovered them…read morewhen we adopted a cat from Mayport Cats, Inc for our youngest daughter. At the time, Mayport Cats was the branch that handled the feral cat colonies out by Mayport Base (TNR, feeding, vet care & evaluation to see if any could be placed for adoption). My aunt occasionally volunteered and contacted us about a 9mth kitten, that had delivered her own litter of kittens and was available for adoption but had been overlooked at several adoption events. My husband and I went to meet Clover, we immediately knew she'd be the perfect fit for our daughter (and boy oh boy has she been) and brought her home that day. Included in her paperwork was information about The Caffeinated Cat and our entire family was so excited to learn such a place existed. Several of our children have chosen to make donations of food, toys and treats (for the kitty residents of the cafe) for their birthdays and other milestones vs receiving gifts......and of course, we always procure some human treats for ourselves while there. Lastly, they stepped up and stepped in when we were experiencing a situation with a stray that had been dumped in our neighborhood (unfortunately it's quite common here). He was a stunning muted Siamese that adored people and dogs, but seemingly hated other cats although it seems that particular trait was due to the stress of being dumped and insecure (once he was no longer a "stray" the issue resolved)my kids named him Pig due to his pink nose. I was caring for him but couldn't bring him into our home, as he kept charging the glass door, hissing and growling every time one of our cats walked by. Sadly, he showed up badly injured one morning.....after an obvious fight with another cat, seemingly having lost his eye. I was heartbroken for him, I knew he needed to belong to someone.....he was not feral nor adjusting to the lifestyle well and that point seriously injured. I contacted Mayport Cats/The Caffeinated Cat with the hope of getting some guidance/advice but they instead offered to take him into their care. He was renamed "Merlin" because his eye somehow magically reappeared after being seemingly gone for 3 days and he healed beautifully, I'm not sure if he's still a resident or has been adopted but The Caffeinated Cat is an amazing place, that offers a unique experience that benefits our community ....If you are a cat or animal lover, you should definitely stop by, grab a drink and pet a fur baby! **Including photos of Clover and Pig aka Merlin

They offer a variety of different biscuits with chicken and other proteins and also have a pretty robust menu with other options. I was impressed immediately with the service as I explained it was my first time visiting and they staff went out of their way to make recommendations! The acoustics make conversation difficult. Vicious Biscuit - jalapeno biscuit - Thick, pasty. Chicken - good crisp and not dry. Gravy - lacked seasoning and didnt have any maple drizzle:-( Fried Green 'Mater - thick cut and just the right amount of fry on them so they aren't squishy. Breading was light and well-balanced. The shredded pimento cheese spread was top-notch. It was creamy, rich, and flavorful. It sets this side apart from the others. They also have full-size pickled okra that rocks. Chai latte - thin, light, refreshing with an cinnamon accent, borders on a horchata, then the chai pops up. Overall, the visit was pleasant with solid food, but not so amazing that I would drive out of my way to come here again. I have had worse and I have had better.

When you walk in the owner is often the one to great you, the cash register to the left of the entrance, and a lovely assortment of trinkets to the right. The food itself was nice and light. I enjoyed the Knafeh. We also got an assortment of drinks. My personal favorite was the Salep (like a more savory creamier hot chocolate, hold the chocolate). The masala chai was a decent price for a pot and had a delightful flavor, I've since taken multiple people and a variety of different pallettes enjoy the flavor. This is a great date spot, but also low key enough to just enjoy if you want a place to relax, there's a small bookshelf if you wanted to un plug and read while you enjoy your tea. Ps. The owner is a professional guitarist, my friend who is also a professional musician has a wonderful time chatting with him about their shared passions.

The photos didn't lie. This place is nicely tucked away from the Atlantic and San Pablo craziness. Walking in I felt transported to another country. As cliche as that sounds I don't have any other way to describe it. I love the items imported straight from Turkey for sale (the staff are true salespeople as they really wanted me to purchase something. They were beautiful but I didn't see anything that I HAD to have). In the back. the wisteria hanging from the ceiling and the middle eastern sofa for lounging and maybe for some snacks and hookah made it seem so cozy. I loved all the decor. The first thing we got was the Turkish Coffee that was heated in hot sand. The guy serving us, I wasn't sure if he was the owner or not was really great. He warned us not to ingest the coffee grind/powder/sludge on the bottom but that we'd really enjoy the taste. That was perhaps the best tasting coffee I've ever had not to mention it was nuclear hot. We got the Charcuterie for 2 which had lebna or lebneh, cheddar, gyro meat which I thought was shawarma but it wasn't, grape leaves, hummus, fruits and crackers with a side of honey and pita bread slices. I don't remember having lebna before but I loved it. There were some extras we got like the mozzarella balls, the ful medames, olives, and I believe some kind of date cakes. Trust me. We were good after eating all of this. My fiance also had Lentil soup which he said was nice and simple. Definitely had a wonderful experience.
