I love living here! I've lived here a little over a year and I've never had a problem with feeling…read moredisrespected or unappreciated! Everyone I have spoken with has been very kind. It's a quiet place to live which is amazing because I can't stand chaos. Dogs are typically on a leash if outside and there's a dumpster in the park area which helps keep the grass clean. I've lived in apartments with dog shit everywhere and that's just not the case here. The park manager is very clear on how things work, pricing for parking your rv,late fees and evacuation rules if late on payment. She has been more than generous as to help me feel safe living by myself, she's there if I need an ear or advice about pretty much anything. I can sit with her for hours just listening to her stories. The stay is reasonably priced and late fees are honestly a blessing considering how expensive everything is now in 2023. I can't say for sure how long I'll be living here but I'm sure l'll be living here for at least 2 more years.

My experience can be summed up as frequently floods, rude hosts, bad management, and don't let the…read morephotos fool you because fishing area is not really for you or at least one at a time access only. I have been a full time "RV"er for over 3 years. I typically rent by the month and stayed at my first RV Park over 18 months and 2 other RV Park facilities at least 6 months each. Then my experience at this place occurred: If you ask 10 different people, you might get 10 different answers. There may even be some that would rate THEIR experience here as acceptable, perhaps even good (If so, then my guess is they must be related or employee of the place). I gave this facility a 1 out of 5 stars only because you can not rate it any lower (0 out of 5). When I stayed (about 1+ years ago), this place had just changed its name to Barefoot RV Park (it seems like another recent business operating name change prior to that had occurred if memory serves me correct). This "RECREATION" vehicle park now is called Pop's Hideout, but I doubt ownership or much else has changed as the owners lived on site at the adjacent neighboring residence. You would think with an owner so close that would be a nice addition unless they looked at your camp out like you are intruding on their evening family time or something. I guess that is why they hire a "Manager" with the personality and demeanor of a pit bull (that commonly encountered by one with a frequent hangover). My final day there was when a neighbor agreed to assist me in a project the next morning (loading a camper shell on a truck bed to improve site housekeeping condition), but he was unable as the manager since his agreement with me engaged him to begin some early Sunday morning personal truck vehicle major mechanical repair that was being performed by this common neighbor, in his on site driveway. The hangover attitude type manager (with his automotive parts throughout neighboring site) then proceeded to accuse me of being a liar (not an action or personality trait at all consistent with myself ) for waiting and physically needing the neighbor who had volunteered to assist in loading a camper shell on a truck bed (for my personal site appearance improvement). Odd, but consistent with his regular behavior (always seeking a confrontation- an argument waiting to happen like a lighting rod waiting for the rain). This company actually produced a somewhat threatening situation for my family since my plan was to stay for a month, but was cut short (after this business did receive from me a full month's rent, but then directed me to leave after only about 3 weeks before my next payment cycle leaving me stranded with no immediate place or park or the funds to immediately procure a new site. In my defense, I would mention my 30 year profession as a full time employee with an insurance carrier (agency, claims, etc.). Not an industry known for typically hiring trouble makers. In addition to this final event, Note that the 2 buildings present (utility room & residence) are on elevated piers. This is because the property is subject to flooding quite often (several weeks per year regularly). It is also noted that 2 days after my eviction, a severe rain event happened causing the entire park to evacuate for flooding (can you say Karma). Other concerns were, there is a row of trailers that park along the entire length of the water front (the managers being one of them) so to access any fishing or water front activities is limited due to a "restricted area" so that the trailers parked front row are guaranteed their lot "rights" all the way to the water (not allowing for any kind of nature walking trail at water front). This restricts all fishing, etc. to a small clearing, but don't get too close to the owners neighboring "section of dirt". I got the feeling like the owners really would rather not have the rv guests there and that we are an inconvenience. I did see a newspaper article concerning this establishment that did shed some light on "Strange Encounters of the A-hole Kind". This RV Park location did have some issues relating to some FAILED municipal code inspections and an application for variance from standard acceptable by the Humble, TX City Council who ruling was NOT in favor of this park hence, this rv park at the time of my stay, was not in compliance with the minimum standard required by the City of Humble, TX for similar occupancy. Or maybe, it was just me.

The staff member I interacted with seemed inexperienced, possibly new. A morbidly obese individual (perhaps the owner) was rudely gesturing at people, including me. They do have bathrooms, but they were all clogged. One, in particular, was overflowing from the shower stall, creating a trip hazard. The lot is cement with river pebble landscaping. Unfortunately, wild weeds stick out like a bad haircut from Supercuts. There is a custodian, but he was busy picking up trash from the comfort of a golf cart. One star removed due to their claim that they don't accept cash. I considered explaining how society works and the legal concept that any bill issued by the government cannot be denied, even on private property, but I refrained since I wanted to rest after a long drive. I will continue to bring cash to prove a point. One star removed because the entrance is steep, and you'll bottom out your RV if it's not tall enough. You have to enter through the designated exit and then transition to the main gate. With the amount of money they make, they haven't thought to build a ramp? I will update my review if these issues are addressed. This place has the potential to be five stars and is quite literally the best place I've ever stayed. My takeaway is their disconnect from clients and residents. I'm not sure if they've ever asked for feedback on how to improve, which suggests they don't care. Tell me I have a booger on my nose instead of letting me walk around looking foolish! The prices are cheaper than most places for the services provided. I'm holding back from giving them five stars--they deserve it, but we'll see.
