We had gone to the UCLA football game at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night and after all the mayhem was over at 11:30 pm I really wanted some truly good food and not get gouged on price - and I knew that Yelp would help me find just that...and we found Los California Tacos! First of all, this food truck was voted the nations #1 food truck in 2022 by ZenBusiness who evaluates food trucks based on Yelp reviews and voted them #1 out of the top 10 most reviewed food trucks in the US! - So there's that. And then we found out why, first hand. I'm originally from Texas and the rule there is the way to find a great restaurant you for a place that has a lot of cars in the parking lot and a line out the door. And this taco truck is tucked back in the small parking lot of an auto repair shop sonofabitch you're driving too fast you might miss it. But we saw all the cars parked on the street and then the line of people at the truck. My girlfriend was like "I don't wanna wait a half hour to eat" but because of how late it was (they stay open till 2:30 am) we decided to stay and give it a try. It was astonishing how fast they were moving people through that line! From the time we hit that parking lot, we were feasting within 5-7 mins. They only serve 2 things - street tacos ($2.50 each) and we later saw that they also serve nachos (not sure what the price is on nachos - but we'd love to try those next time ). They have a wonderful assortment of meats as you can see from my pic: asada (steak), pastor (BBQ pork), carnitas (fried pork), chicharron (spicy pork), cabeza (beef cheek) & pollo (chicken). We got asada, pastor and pollo tacos and they were VERY good. You can get spicy or mild and they come with onions & cilantro. There are 4 or 5 guys cooking and as soon as you tell them what you want they are handing to you - not kidding, lightning fast, hot & fresh! It is artistic how well-oiled their whole business runs and is VERY impressive!! They don't have actual tables (because that would be inefficient). The auto repair shop has installed a pull-down shelf on the parking lot wall that you walk over to once you have your food and it is very efficient and absolutely perfect for this location. Again, this one our most impressive finds and $14 for 5 tacos and a 5 min wait for what looks to be a 30+ min wait is just unheard of. 5 stars all day long!!

It's hard to find Stinky Tofu (not that many places offer them). Let alone finding one that actually tastes good. It's not that stinky compared to the Stinky Tofu you would find in Asia (bearable odor imo). Like it with the pickled cabbage (they call it TW style cabbage) and spicy chili paste. Comes in small or large size Popcorn Chicken 4.5/5 They call it Crispy Chicken on the menu. Usually get this one on most visits. Chicken Cutlet 4.25/5 Solid choice. Overall, liked it, but sometimes it's greasy when cut up in a box. The grape yogurt drink was creamy, yogurty, and tart with real, refreshing, fruity grape flaves and seeds. The sausage hug sausage had a firm, bouncy, sweet, fatty, thick sausage, pungent raw garlic, and crunchy sweet pickled cucumbers all on a chewy sticky rice bed. The scallion pancake chicken cutlet had a super flakey crispity crunchity chewy wrap, a brushing of sweet sticky hoisin sauce, some shredded cabbage, and a thin crispity crunchy bubbly lightly savory chicken cutlet. Paid $23: $20+$3 Mac n cheese Ordered: Rodney's Special $20 2-3 piece ribs ( depending on size it says) Includes 1 side : (Cole slaw, potato salad or green beans, Mac n cheese is $3 upcharge) and bread. I chose Mac n cheese which was a $3 upcharge. The scoop was so small, it was 3 teaspoons exactly. I used the plastic spoon, 3 spoonfuls and it was gone. It was good, but not $3 more for 3 tsp's good! Total rip off. Only got 2 small ribs (not big and juicy as advertised) They were not fresh, looks bigger in picture, was mostly bone and cartilage - not much meat. For size scale reference, look at the Picture: Fyi, that's a very small box, look at the 1/2 slice of bread on the right, the ribs were only slightly bigger than a 1/2 slice of white bread. My iPhone 13 is bigger than the ribs, I should've placed phone next to it to show you. When Rodney handed me the box, it felt so light, like nothing was in it, not fooling! Rib meat was hard, dry and cold to the bone, like just taken from fridge and had sauce slapped over it. Sloppy and lazy, not a good product at all. No flavor or smoky taste. Could only taste bbq sauce Very disappointed, oh yeah 1/2 slice of bread. It was like an unsatisfying snack. I didn't complain because I felt sorry for the guy, trying to make a living. Giving this review is satisfaction enough. Seriously, you've been warned, not good at all.

Birds were chirping and music was playing out of the speakers scattered throughout the area. It's a food truck. I ordered the cheesy Mikey. I only waited less than 5 minutes for it. The line to order was pretty long. I waited in that line for an hour or longer. But that's understandable since a lot of groups ordered tons of items while it was just me that ordered. I got to speak to Mike since one of his employees left. He verified my order, gave me napkins since it's not self serve and pointed out the ketchup and other condiments I think. The cheeseburger came with lettuce tomato onion garlic aioli sauce and the patty. I loved how all the flavors blended together, nothing was overpowering. It came with fries and it filled me up. The portion size was perfect. My order was $23.84 but that's because I tipped 10% and I think it was worth it. My one gripe was that they don't accept cash which is understandable because the kiosk was card only. I should've walked to the front and checked it or asked an employee. Yelp assistant said they accept cash so that needs to be corrected to sometimes or never.

I didn't wait too long for my food either and I can understand how stressful it can get and how backed up the orders can get too. Their speedy work is doubly impressive because they offered multiple things off their menu and allowed people to make customizations too. I got the Cheesy Mikey, which is their hand crafted 1/2 lb angus beef patty burger. The burger is seasoned with their Mike's Fat Boy's seasoning. The burger comes with a generous portion of chopped lettuce, sliced tomato, American cheese on a grilled brioche bun (it was grilled with butter and had a nice tasty crispy edge of the bun). The burger came with their garlic aioli sauce. It's a very filling burger and perfect for me since I didn't have breakfast. I will have to admit that this burger is a bit saltier than what I would have liked, but if you balance out your bites to get enough lettuce and tomato within the ratio, it balances out the saltiness, but if there's the option to adjust it, I definitely would. Overall, pretty good!

I pulled into the Good Fortune Supermarket (formerly Hong Kong Supermarket) parking lot to check it out. Everything looked new and clean, but business seemed slow because no one was around. Two Asian men sitting around liao tianr-ing (chatting) sprang up as I approached. My Chinese not being the best combined with their somewhat heavy mainland accents meant I didn't know how or what to order. They said they had one last serving of what sounded like "lamb" to me left. I took a glance and saw grilled/fried stuff on the menu, so I said sure why not. I asked how long they've been open, what their hours are, and if they're usually at this location. They said this is the first week they've been open, their hours are around 5 PM to 9 PM, and yes they are usually in front of the supermarket. I asked if I could take pictures and if they had a Yelp page, and they said sure and not yet. Around this time, while I was chatting with one guy and the other guy was preparing my order, a few other groups of people saw the commotion and started inching closer, curious. You know me, always blazing trails. Anyway, it wasn't until I paid and got change that I realized what I ordered. Apparently I ordered the Brothers Features Liangpi. I've never heard of a liangpi, so I was excited to bring it home to try it out. It turns out liangpi is like a flat rice noodle (or mungbean sheet?) cut up with cold cucumbers, tofu, cilantro, and a bit of Sichuan pepper (mala). They gave me a sesame sauce on the side. It was pretty good. In summary: Food was good though I ordered only one thing. I'll be back sometime in the next few days to try out more of their menu. Service was good. I was the only one around for a bit, but they were definitely friendly. Food truck with an "A" rating from the health department. It's a positive, but part of me wants to count it as a negative. Asian street food, to me, just isn't the same without massive cockroaches skittering around piles of rotting vegetables all around me while mosquitoes eat me alive. Pricing seems fair. Definitely not cheap as my liangpi wasn't huge or anything, but it wasn't too expensive either. I hope Asian-street-food food trucks become more popular.
