Love this place! The food is delicious and fresh and the service is super friendly and fast. We always order the same items: chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, garlic naan and saag paneer. The portions are generous and we usually end up with leftovers to enjoy the next day. I will say that the naan is better if dining in because it gets steamed a little on the way home with takeout and doesn't have that fresh out of the oven crispiness. I don't usually give out 2 stars but I think a lot could have been better in this place. I love Indian food and as an Indian, I think these could be improved to make it a better experience: 1. We ordered two mango lassi's. They were really dark orange which I found interesting, as it's not usually quite that dark, leading me to wonder if there might be food coloring added. But the taste was a 0/5. It felt like the yogurt in it had curdled or was spoilt! We did not drink these after the initial sips 2. The tandoori chicken was okay. It was "spiced" but none of the usual flavors shined in this dish. Tasted like grilled chicken at best. 3. The butter chicken, was very sweet. Now, traditionally butter chicken is slightly sweet but this just tasted too "tomato-ey" 4. The chicken Biriyani left us all yearning for more. Biriyani is such a beautiful rice dish, that's very flavorful and also usually spicy. I found that this was extremely bland and lacking a lot of masala that you usually find layered into the rice. Apart from these, we also ordered naan and rasmalai. The the sweet was exactly how it should be, it was wonderful and I give it 5/5. Hard to mess up naan, they were soft and buttery as expected. Upon arrival at my destination 1.5 hours later, I discovered a shocking substitution: Cauliflower 65 instead of Chilli Chicken, and a Lamb Biryani completely devoid of lamb! The audacity of this blatant error, compounded by the knowledge that a traveler is unlikely to return for a correction, speaks volumes about this restaurant's lack of integrity and professionalism. Our Airbnb guide had this listed as a place to try and I hadn't had Indian food for a while, so my friends and I stopped by today for the lunch buffet. (And it's awesome that they do the lunch buffet on Sat and Sundays!) The only option for lunch is the buffet, I believe, and desserts and beverages are a la carte. The buffet is $12 which is reasonably priced. My favorite items on the buffet were the onion clusters (they have an actual name, but I'm forgetting it), the chicken tikka masala, and the naan, which was fresh and buttery, as well as complimentary (one batch per table). Everything was very tasty and I would definitely come back here again. It's located off of US-31 so it's not in the touristy part of Grand Haven, but is worth the 5 to 10-minute drive from downtown. read more

Great food. The flavors were everything I had hoped for. We had chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. The depth of spice rivaled some of the best curries I have had. The texture was spot on; creamy and delicious. We also ordered the fried onion and Potato appetizer. Crispy, flavorful, satisfying. The naan may have been the best I have ever had. A perfect amount of crisp!!! The portion sizes seemed small to me and the pieces of chicken were a bit large. With a small staff and very small dining area I might recommend take out. Absolutely the worst Indian food we have ever experienced, it was nearly inedible. I cannot begin to understand how so many have reviewed it favorably. The saag did not taste fresh or well seasoned and the paneer tasted like overcooked tofu. Lamb roganjosh was nondescript little pieces of lamb swimming in what seemed to be a ketchup sauce. This is amazing Indian food. Lunch buffet is nice, not too big, the classic dishes are there, and it is very flavorful food. Great tikka masala, chilli chicken, and vegetable curry. Would like to see saag paneer on the buffet someday! I like lunch buffets that are not too big because the food keeps fresh and it's not overwhelming with choices. We've been looking for a good Indian restaurant in this area and you can find Indian restaurants but rarely a good one. Based on the Yelp reviews we drove to this restaurant today to give it a try. At first we were a bit apprehensive. The exterior isn't very attractive and once inside you might think the place was run down a bit. We were handed a well worn menu where a fourth of the items were crossed off and a magic marker note said "Prices not accurate anymore" for the remaining menu. We ordered Chicken Tikki Marsala (did I spell that right?) which included rice. We also got the garlic naan bread. As we waited for our order I couldn't help but notice most of the customers were seemingly of Indian heritage, which is comforting in an Indian ethnic restaurant! The plates and silverware arrived and - linen napkins! Nice touch. The food arrived and the portions were very generous. Just the one entree and rice with naan bread fed two hungry adults. The Tikki Marsala was excellent. We ordered a level '3' spice which is usually just right for us but might recommend you try it at '2' the first time there, we'll adjust next time. In the reviews on Yelp there is one for this restaurant that is written by someone who self-identifies as Indian. It's interesting to read once you have eaten here as basically it's kind of a "My Mom's recipe is better than your Mom's recipe" comment. I have to smile at that because in it's own way, it also is reassuring us that in this restaurant we might be getting as close as we're going to get to good Indian food in this part of the world! We have been to Cumin 3 times before and took our kids tonight. One is a 16 year old vegetarian the other a 9 year old picky eater. The vegetarian had the veggie tikka masala pot and the 9 year old had the tandoori chicken. Their eyes lit up when the piping hot food was served and they loved it! Friendly service and good food - lamb bryani and eggplant bharta- the generous portions of lamb were so tender it could be cut with a fork. The rice was fragrant with saffron and fluffy. And the reviews were SPOT on! This place was awesome! To start, we got the samosa and they were perfect with lots of flavor. The Chicken (Murgh) Makhani was great, subtly spiced with a great tomato flavor and not overly rich. The Chicken Biryani was good too and was quite mild. The Naan and tandoori roti were stellar as was the service. They were out of quite a few items on the menu, but there were still plenty of options. They serve pickle here. Do you know what Indian pickle is? It's a traditional Indian condiment made from fermented fruit, like mango, and peppers. It's hot and spicy and salty and I was delighted to find it here. It's a sign that they "get" Indian food. They also make a great masala chai. It's as good as mine and I make the real deal. I developed a taste for it while spending a month in Bangalore, India and the stuff they serve here is authentic. Oh, and the food is well made and well spiced. It's yummy. It's super casual on the inside with really friendly service. They do a lunch buffet which is a good deal. Look, If the world was a supermarket, Grand Haven would be the generic white bread section. Amaaazing food!! I can't believe that after 3 years of them being in Grand Haven, I've only just found this gem of a place. It is unassuming and lovely inside, but the real ticket is the authentic India cuisine! Perfectly prepared! I stopped for a quick lunch and had the buffet.
