The restaurant was a small cozy experience with wonderful service and a pescatarian friendly menu! I noticed with the menu was so organized that the green titles were vegan, red titles were for foods with meat and the black titles were for non vegan but also non meat foods. It's also pretty affordable and all the stuff seems like it's relatively a well balanced meal. The food was delicious, and I honestly went here Sunday and Tuesday (they're closed on Mondays) because it was that good. Both times we had the same server and she was so incredibly nice and helpful and even had suggestions when my boyfriend and I were unsure where to start. I tried the Lychee Juice and it was so good!! It just looks a bit cloudy. I researched the juice and it's pretty good for you too which is always a plus! Only thing not pictured of what we tried (on Monday) was the Vegetable Samosa. It was good, as was the other appetizer, the onion bhaji but I honestly got bored after a little bit and didn't finish my samosa and only ate one of the onion bhajis. Nonetheless the food was marvelous and i've already suggested this place to my loved ones and friends! read more

Ordered 'to go' at the counter. Food done in about 10 minutes. Awesome! Came out hot and stayed that way back to Spring Lake. Will order spicier next go round. Great flavor to the chicken Korma and the onion bahji was packed with onions. Only two nits were the bahji could have been crunchier and the garlic naan was under done (soggy and doughy). Deep fry the onions longer and crank up the tandoor. I'll be back. read more

Some of the best Indian food I've had in a while and I travel a lot and have been eating this cuisine for over 40 years. Really almost homestyle like; feels like you're eating in an accomplished home cook's kitchen. read more

I can only speak to my take out experience but over all food was absolutely delicious! I went with saag paneer, butter chicken, and veggie Briyani. Overall everything was very flavorful. I will say none of the food was spicy so next time I will ask to see if I can add some spice level to it but that's just my preference :) overall definitely coming back! read more

Food was pretty good, the cashier couldn't have been ruder!! Gave us a major bad vibe. Went because of their 4.5 stars but honestly, the bad attitude was a huge turn off!! Felt like a family business and parents made her work and she didn't want to on a Sat. night! Won't ever be back since we are from San Diego!! Food was good though. Try and get a better attitude! First place in MI that was horrible service for us! read more

Again the lamb was to the point with rice. Love the vegetable Somoza they were better than before. Mango lasi was great. The service was too slow. Had to wait too long. Although worth it. They need a waitress. Is too much for one young lady. I'm starting to understand why most people order take out. The other patrons were not friendly at all. Maybe is a grand haven thing, or maybe they do not like diversity. I just did not feel comfortable. Luckily I was with my family. Next time. Take out it is. read more

AMAZING. I gulped down my mango lassi (10/10) as my beau and I devoured our vegetable samosas (10/10) while waiting for our butter chicken (10/10) I'm full, happy, and I still have more to eat later when I get hungry! read more

Love this place! The food is delicious and fresh and the service is super friendly and fast. We always order the same items: chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, garlic naan and saag paneer. The portions are generous and we usually end up with leftovers to enjoy the next day. I will say that the naan is better if dining in because it gets steamed a little on the way home with takeout and doesn't have that fresh out of the oven crispiness. My picky toddler even loves eating at Cumin. I will have to take photos the next time we go because I scarfed the food down too quickly before thinking about taking my camera out. read more

Super duper tasty. We ate so much food between the naan, the rice, the tasty everything. Definitely on the spicier side so err on the side of caution if you aren't spice tolerant. I'm so full. Lots of different options for veggie and meat eaters!! Very reasonable prices read more

I've been looking for an Indian restaurant in Grand Haven, and I'm pretty gosh darn happy that I found this place! I came in on a Friday evening about 7:30 and there was only one other table occupied. Grabbed a seat and ordered my drink.. heads up, Diet Coke comes in a can. The menu is pretty basic but has a lot on it. I ordered the vegetable samosas, naan and chicken Tikka Masala. Spice level ranges from 1-4 and I ordered a 2. Samosas come two to an order and were nice and hot but didn't have a ton of flavor. The sauce that came with them was really good though. Had there been salt on the table, I would have added it to t The chicken tikka masala was sweeter than I expected but quite tasty. The heat was slow to present itself, but i had a runny nose and sweaty forehead before I was done.. outstanding! I'll be checking out the buffet one of these days as well as remembering this for carry out. read more

I don't usually give out 2 stars but I think a lot could have been better in this place. I love Indian food and as an Indian, I think these could be improved to make it a better experience: 1. We ordered two mango lassi's. They were really dark orange which I found interesting, as it's not usually quite that dark, leading me to wonder if there might be food coloring added. But the taste was a 0/5. It felt like the yogurt in it had curdled or was spoilt! We did not drink these after the initial sips 2. The tandoori chicken was okay. It was "spiced" but none of the usual flavors shined in this dish. Tasted like grilled chicken at best. 3. The butter chicken, was very sweet. Now, traditionally butter chicken is slightly sweet but this just tasted too "tomato-ey" 4. The chicken Biriyani left us all yearning for more. Biriyani is such a beautiful rice dish, that's very flavorful and also usually spicy. I found that this was extremely bland and lacking a lot of masala that you usually find layered into the rice. Apart from these, we also ordered naan and rasmalai. The the sweet was exactly how it should be, it was wonderful and I give it 5/5. Hard to mess up naan, they were soft and buttery as expected. Overall, I would not return here. I understand there are not many Indian establishments around this area, but I wish that it was a more accurate representation of what the food should taste like to introduce to locals. read more

Food was mediocre. Not much atmosphere. Looks like they do an ample take out business but we ate in and our food temperature was lukewarm and the spiciness which we are accustomed to was very hot. Sadly, we were disappointed. Very friendly wait staff. read more

Our Airbnb guide had this listed as a place to try and I hadn't had Indian food for a while, so my friends and I stopped by today for the lunch buffet. (And it's awesome that they do the lunch buffet on Sat and Sundays!) The only option for lunch is the buffet, I believe, and desserts and beverages are a la carte. The buffet is $12 which is reasonably priced. My favorite items on the buffet were the onion clusters (they have an actual name, but I'm forgetting it), the chicken tikka masala, and the naan, which was fresh and buttery, as well as complimentary (one batch per table). Everything was very tasty and I would definitely come back here again. It's located off of US-31 so it's not in the touristy part of Grand Haven, but is worth the 5 to 10-minute drive from downtown. read more

I've tried this place three times hoping each time, that the dish that I chose was the problem. Unfortunately they are consistently poorly flavored and small portions but the cost is quite high. I love Indian food and have been too many Indian restaurants over the years, I would not recommend going here. read more

Great food. The flavors were everything I had hoped for. We had chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. The depth of spice rivaled some of the best curries I have had. The texture was spot on; creamy and delicious. We also ordered the fried onion and Potato appetizer. Crispy, flavorful, satisfying. The naan may have been the best I have ever had. A perfect amount of crisp!!! The portion sizes seemed small to me and the pieces of chicken were a bit large. With a small staff and very small dining area I might recommend take out. Yiu won't be disappointed with the powerful flavor packed curries here. read more

One star is far too generous for the abysmal takeout experience I had with Cumin Fresh Indian Kitchen. While traveling, I pre-ordered Chilli Chicken and Lamb Biryani by phone. Upon arrival at my destination 1.5 hours later, I discovered a shocking substitution: Cauliflower 65 instead of Chilli Chicken, and a Lamb Biryani completely devoid of lamb! The audacity of this blatant error, compounded by the knowledge that a traveler is unlikely to return for a correction, speaks volumes about this restaurant's lack of integrity and professionalism. Their actions are not only infuriating but also demonstrate a complete disregard for their customers. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment; steer clear of Cumin Fresh Indian Kitchen. Their "fresh" ingredient claim clearly doesn't extend to honest order fulfillment. read more

-tikka marsala a bit too sweet but not bad -an order of naan or paratha is just one piece -samosas didn't come with any plum or cilantro chutney but they themselves were tasty -with the exception of the rice, the portion sizes were a bit small (container 3/4 full for TM) for the price Overall not bad, will try again read more

The dishes are not as tasty as those in India and Japan. I got sick on their curry a few months ago and won't go back.

Fantastic Indian food. There must be something wrong with this town and why this restaurant isn't packed

Good authentic Indian food and service was top notch. We ordered spice level 3. Will definitely clear your nasal passages.

The food was good but mild. Make sure to specify your heat level. Our server failed to ask. We love spicy food, so it was very sad to watch everyone around us being asked heat levels and watch people eat spicy food with reactions. The space is tight, but it's nice in the dining area. The bathrooms are kinda nasty, but whatever Indian food.. read more

This is amazing Indian food. Lunch buffet is nice, not too big, the classic dishes are there, and it is very flavorful food. Great tikka masala, chilli chicken, and vegetable curry. Would like to see saag paneer on the buffet someday! I like lunch buffets that are not too big because the food keeps fresh and it's not overwhelming with choices. The heat/spicy level of this buffet food is mild (you can add heat if you want) and the Indian spices are INCREDIBLE. I eat alot of Indian food, and this tastes authentic. Cumin Fresh Indian Kitchen - Lunch buffet with amazing naan served to our table. - Indian Near Me - Grand Haven, Michigan

Absolutely the worst Indian food we have ever experienced, it was nearly inedible. I cannot begin to understand how so many have reviewed it favorably. The saag did not taste fresh or well seasoned and the paneer tasted like overcooked tofu. Lamb roganjosh was nondescript little pieces of lamb swimming in what seemed to be a ketchup sauce. The biryani rice tasted barely different than the plain white rice and was garnished with a few sad wilted little slimy pieces of lettuce. Cheap, uninspired, rundown, cluttered little restaurant in a crummy strip mall... read more

We have been to Cumin 3 times before and took our kids tonight. One is a 16 year old vegetarian the other a 9 year old picky eater. The vegetarian had the veggie tikka masala pot and the 9 year old had the tandoori chicken. Their eyes lit up when the piping hot food was served and they loved it! Our vegetarian said it was the best meal he had ever eaten and is now hooked. Looking forward to many more quiet evening family meals at this establishment. Wonderful service! read more

Both the beef tika masala and the chicken curry meats were Very Dry this Sunday night the 11th. If this continues we will stop ordering.

We've been looking for a good Indian restaurant in this area and you can find Indian restaurants but rarely a good one. Based on the Yelp reviews we drove to this restaurant today to give it a try. At first we were a bit apprehensive. The exterior isn't very attractive and once inside you might think the place was run down a bit. We were handed a well worn menu where a fourth of the items were crossed off and a magic marker note said "Prices not accurate anymore" for the remaining menu. We ordered Chicken Tikki Marsala (did I spell that right?) which included rice. We also got the garlic naan bread. As we waited for our order I couldn't help but notice most of the customers were seemingly of Indian heritage, which is comforting in an Indian ethnic restaurant! The plates and silverware arrived and - linen napkins! Nice touch. The food arrived and the portions were very generous. Just the one entree and rice with naan bread fed two hungry adults. The Tikki Marsala was excellent. We ordered a level '3' spice which is usually just right for us but might recommend you try it at '2' the first time there, we'll adjust next time. In the reviews on Yelp there is one for this restaurant that is written by someone who self-identifies as Indian. It's interesting to read once you have eaten here as basically it's kind of a "My Mom's recipe is better than your Mom's recipe" comment. I have to smile at that because in it's own way, it also is reassuring us that in this restaurant we might be getting as close as we're going to get to good Indian food in this part of the world! The price was the best part. Fed two adults, entree / rice / naan bread with one soft drink. Total bill : $21.80. Not bad! Enjoy! read more

Friendly service and good food - lamb bryani and eggplant bharta- the generous portions of lamb were so tender it could be cut with a fork. The rice was fragrant with saffron and fluffy. The eggplant dish was sweet and spicy- to be relished with pieces of naan scraping every bit off the plate. We highly recommend, and will come back again. read more

Excellent food! A little slow, but worth the wait. It's a very small place and was busy until fairly late. I'm not very familiar with Indian food, so I was happy for the recommendations of the staff. We ordered items that were not spicy yet everything was very flavorful without the heat. I can't say is order it all again, but I wish I lived closer so I could try everything. Yummy Tika Masala with veg I would definitely get again. read more

Surprisingly they don't have butter chicken. And being gluten free, I sorta wish they had more chickpea flour appetizers. Those things would give them 5 stars. That being said, this place is fantastic. The madras curry is to die for. The lentil soup is delicious. My partner had the potato dish last time and loved it. I believe they have a lunch buffet during non-covid so I'm excited for that! read more

My husband and I are pretty critical, and not usually ones to rant and rave if something is not exceptional. We have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place--we both agreed it's the best Indian food we've ever had. The tandoori chicken was incredible, as was the butter chicken. The waitress and the man that delivered our food were very kind, despite us being there until closing time. The ONLY bad thing about this little gem is that it's not closer to home so we could come more often! read more

My wife and I have some friends from India that introduced us to the glory that is Indian food. We decided to try it for the first time out and Cumin Fresh has the best reviews. And the reviews were SPOT on! This place was awesome! To start, we got the samosa and they were perfect with lots of flavor. We also got the Tandoori Chicken and the Madras with chicken with naan bread. All was amazing! Please note that the Tandoori Chicken comes bone-in, but it still tastes awesome. So much flavor in every bite. The sauce for the Madras was fabulous! We'll be back! read more
