Through Yelp and Grubhub, you can order ice cream, as well as snacks, household supplies (need an emergency TP roll or six? They got you) and beverages. No alcohol, though... this isn't Massachusetts, folks. This corner store is located over by Elmgrove Street, just a few blocks from Blackstone Boulevard, so I guess if you really wanted to, you could grab a bottle of water and go for a run, but that's clearly not what the rest of us are doing. This is my "neighborhood" WF, I am in there at least 7 times a week and sometimes more. Being a smaller store the variety can be limited, but that is not why I am reviewing. It's about the staff. Last week I fell, not in the store or on their property, I got some pretty gnarly abrasions and a bit of a cut and needed to ice my knee down quickly. WF has ice in the front, so I went there and grabbed a small hot bar (yum yum!), I sat at the tables outside, which are a great place to eat the ready made hot foods, in particular the chicken in sweet chili sauce. I digress, within a few minutes a sweet young man stopped and asked if I was okay, I told him what happened and assured him I didn't fall at WF. He went back to work, a few minutes later another staff came out with a roll of paper towels and asked if she could do anything for me, I thanked her and said I was fine. Not more than a few minutes later another employee came out to check on me. Yes some foods are expensive, yes, it can be busy there but the bottom line, this is neighborhood, this is community and this is the human experience. Thumbs up Whole Foods Waterman!

It does get very busy but they are likely to have everything you need and want from a typical market, although their deli is not my favorite (I think Dave's has one of the best supermarket delis in Rhode Island). It isn't trying to reinvent the grocery store, and honestly, that's part of what I like about it. The meats and prepared foods are a real highlight. I've always been impressed with the quality, and the prepared foods are the kind of thing that makes it easy to put together a good meal without having to do everything yourself. The produce is another reason I keep coming back. It's consistently fresh, and you can tell they actually pay attention to what they're putting out rather than simply filling a display and calling it a day. The people who work here are also genuinely friendly. There's a comfortable, familiar quality to the place that you don't always get in larger supermarkets. Even when I'm just running in for a few things, the experience is pleasant. The store is clean, the prices are reasonable, and I rarely find myself standing around in a long checkout line, which is always a welcome bonus when I'm trying to get in and out. After all these years, Shore's has earned five stars from me. It's clean, well stocked, reasonably priced, has excellent meat and prepared foods, consistently fresh produce, and friendly people.
