We normally frequent during lent for the Walleye Sandwich . We were treated with a smile, ordered and waited for a seat. A little slow to clear and clean, waited about 10 minutes. I'm from Wisconsin so this review is more biased-base. First off, let me say that this was my first job back in 2006. And even then, we had a great crew. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the front staffs. It wasn't just one person, it was the staff by the drvie-thru window, the one by the register, and the one wiping tables. You really feel welcomed here and I was so glad that that simple greeting was carried down to SA. I was literally seeing my-home-away-from-home vibe. For a moment, it didn't feel like I was in TX anymore, but WI. If this is your first time ever, you got to order a side of the cheese curds, fries, and onion rings. Why....they are like no other sides you've had. The cheese curds are coated with a perfect bread-crumb mixture that, when fried, the cheese doesn't escape. Can't begin to tell you how many times I've ordered fried cheese curds only to find no cheese. Think of fried mozzarella sticks, but with the squeaky cheese curds. They are so good dipped in ranch *drools*. After how many decades, they still tastes the same. Only now, they're a bit salty for my taste. The crinkle fries are the BEST! They hold their shape when you dip them, have a nice exterior crunch, and a perfect mashed-potato texture. Imagine ordering the chili cheese fries with crinkle fries (which they have)!! And the onion rings....best fast-food fried onion rings ever!! Perfect batter-coating that gave them the great crunch and that golden brown look. Such a perfect batter that the onion rings are soft as you bite through one. Real onions are used! You can almost assemble the onion rings together to form a whole onion! My son, who hates onions, actually loved them! Both fries and onion rings were not salty, just perfect. Now, let's get to the sandwiches. I've been ordering a sourdough swiss melt ever since I started working here and, while I've tried other sandwiches and burgers, I always go back to my sourdough swiss melt. Never-frozen beef patties cooked to perfection with grilled purple onions layered and Wisconsin-made swiss cheese in between 2 always-butter-toasted sourdough slices....*chef's kiss*. It tastes EXACTLY as I remembered it. My taste of home away from home. Dip that sandwich in ketchup and OH EM GEE! Yes, I've had other sourdough melts and some were way tastier, but this is a premium sandwich for a fast-food place. Now, when I say fast-food, it is not McDonald's fast. Everything is made to order so there's no grilled patties sitting in a warmer waiting to be used. No pre-made salad bowls in the cooler. You will wait a bit for your meals, but it's not the restaurant kind of wait either. 10-15 minutes tops....even for the drive-thru. They are known for their butter burgers which mean the buns used are soft, butter bread that are then buttered and toasted. Need I say more? Frozen custards.....one of the best, if not the best, frozen custards. Soft and creamy texture and you can make just about any topping-combination you like from malts to concrete blizzards to shakes! And they have a flavor-of-the-day which you can sample also. Place is always clean...bathrooms are always clean clean....people bring there families and they actually linger after finishing their food. Culver's is just to place the be whether with a small group or a big group. Do I recommend Culver's? HECK YES! Would I come back? HECK YES! Tried the mushroom and Swiss burger and it was great. Did double Pattie and barely finished it. Getting too old to eat one that size anymore. Fries were crispy and salted just enough, nice and hot as well. Son and friend had the cheese butter burgers and loved them. We introduced his friend to Culver's and he really liked it. They were quick in bringing the order to the table and making sure we had what we needed. Self serve condiments and fountain drinks. Root beer a big favorite, great taste. Never thought I would write a bad review especially about Culvers. We have grabbed our food from this place for almost 20 years. My kids and i get take out every year on Father's Day because it was one of my late husband's fave places and this past Sunday was the same tradition. I ordered 1 basket, 2 kids meals, all meals come with fries and drinks. Missing 1 drink, 1 fry and 1 burger. Two teens at home so guess who ate whatever was left over. I went back on Monday because I called 7 times and line always busy. Told the nice manager at window and she took receipt and said come back for 2 free meals. Perfect and thank you. Went back today to redeem and had my credit card in hand to buy my meal as well. Well, for a few minutes, she insisted she gave me the meals on Monday. No, look at your cameras. Then she said ok I'll give you the 2 fries and small drinks. I'm sorry I thought you said 2 free meals since they were all incomplete and I'm buying the 3rd meal because it's 3 of us. The fried cod was a great portion and so flaky and yummy with the tartar sauce. My husband liked the chili and tenders. The concrete was sweet and delicious but be careful it melts fast, so enjoy it quickly! Our least favorite thing we tried was the coleslaw that came with the cod, but it wasn't because it was bad, it was just basic. I'm so glad we finally tried Culver's! Cheese curds are amazing and filling. Con: Spicy crispy chicken was dry, and it tasted more like grilled chicken to me. I am a Whataburger girl at heart YALL know what I am a saying ? But this place tastes what Whataburger used to be. I got the butter cheese burger and it was absolutely gorgeous. The patties were seasoned well and the burger was moist because of the butter. It was so good. I paired it with a side of fried cheese curds and I was knocked out into a food coma. It was soooo good. Obviously not an everyday thing, but if I'm ever in town and I want a treat this is the place to be.
