Awful service. No sense of urgency. Don't even have the minimum requirements of ketchup and cups.

It was all of my favorite toppings and froyo blended together. Delish. I love the abundant options. Caitlin: I had triple chocolate with peanut butter cups. I stopped in here last weekend for the first time ever. I was really looking forward to it, but something about the place just seemed off. Maybe it was the somewhat off-putting teenagers behind the counter who were texting, maybe it was the "do it yourself" concept, basically an Old Country Buffet type of place for frozen yogurt, or maybe it was the debris left on two random tables that hadn't been cleaned off yet. I don't know. At any rate, I was completely willing to give it a shot, despite my initial misgivings. As I said, the concept is entirely self-serve. You pick out the type of container you want, flavors, toppings, etc and take it up to the counter, where they weigh it. The price is factored in solely by weight. I'm not really sure how I feel about that, but anyway, it's how they do it. It apparently has nothing to do with the choices/number of toppings or flavors, just the weight of the contents. After paying, I found a table and dug in, really looking forward to some tasty frozen yogurt. What I got was kind of hit or miss and it had nothing to do with the combination of flavors I chose and how they complimented each other (or didn't) with the toppings. Nope. To me, most of the flavors tasted somewhat artificial and not at all authentic. Between my husband and myself, I had managed to try at least five different frozen yogurt flavors. The sea salt caramel pretzel tasted nothing like it should. It was pretty flat and boring, without even a hint of caramel. Where was the caramel? Where was the sea salt? Heck, where was the pretzel flavor? I definitely do not know. The cake pop yogurt was okay, a little flat, but otherwise quite middle of the road, but the espresso tasted very little like real espresso or any coffee-flavored frozen yogurt that I've had before. It didn't resemble a coffee flavor in any way. It just wasn't particularly good. The tahitian vanilla was great and was the one flavor that tasted pretty much like what it should. I wish my dish had more of that and less of the other flavors. I would have been happier, that's for certain, but that's on me. As for the white chocolate mousse, it didn't strike me much as white chocolate, but it was fine, it just didn't taste like white chocolate. I just so happen to love white chocolate and even devoted an entire layer of my wedding cake to the flavor, but this didn't really fulfill my yen for white chocolate mousse. Like I said, it was fine, but a little inauthentic. Now, onto the toppings bar. Well, they had a great variety of both dry and fruit toppings, as well as flavored syrups and whip creme, but the dry toppings seemed kinda stale. Maybe they were left in their dispensers too long or they've gone stale because of oxidation? I'm not sure, but the dry toppings were a bit of a letdown. I should have gone with more fruit toppings instead. As for the price, it's a little on the high side for what you're getting. I mean, the flavors didn't wow me and most of them tasted eerily similar to each other. I expected a little more from this location. At any rate, my husband liked the place enough to sign up for a rewards card, so I'm sure I'll give it another chance. Next time, I'll stick to the fruit toppings and limit my yogurt flavor choices to probably the tahitian vanilla.

Ice cream with a view?…read more We stopped into this cute little ice cream parlor- located along the side of a residential home with a magnificent garden- the other day for a cone after seeing their sign advertising Mooney's Ice Cream beckoning us from down the road. I have to tell you, that roadside signage certainly worked. It got us to detour off our normal route and stop in, so who says roadside signs can't sway the public? Anyway, we found this shop housed in a small outer building next to a fairly nondescript residential home on Corunna Road. Who would have thought there was such a nice little ice cream parlor there just from driving past? I wouldn't have stopped had it not been for the signage down the road with the big arrow pointing the way. At any rate, they had so many flavors, my stomach started rumbling right then and there from the sheer number of choices. They even had no sugar added sherbet and sorbet for the health conscious crowd, plus plenty of malts and shakes in a variety of flavors. The girl was that waited on us was friendly and pointed out her favorite flavors, even offering us a sample before we ordered, although the manager/owner who was outside moving a business sign wasn't terribly polite. She gave us and another carload of people a bit of a dirty look that I found a little perplexing, as though we were bothering her just by stopping in. Weird. After scanning what flavors they had, I had my heart set on the Sea Salt Caramel Waffle Cone (double scoop), while my husband decided on a Maple Nut Waffle Cone (also double scoop), both made from Mooney's Ice Cream. I decided to leave the dark chocolate varieties that I usually prefer to our next visit. Mine was delicious, rich and creamy and filled with huge chunks of caramel woven into the ice cream. I would get that again in a heartbeat. At some point, I sampled my husband's cone, which was also delicious. He's a sucker for maple anything (syrup, sauce, ice cream, cake, etc), so he was impressed that it had plenty of natural-tasting maple flavor and nuts mixed throughout. Despite the heat, both cones held up to intense glare of the sun and didn't start melting quickly, which is a pet peeve of mine. I really hate that. Luckily, our ice cream didn't collapse into a puddle of sticky goo right away, even though it was nearly 90 degrees. Both waffle cones were huge. Double scoops of regular cones were $3.50 each, I believe, but waffle cones cost extra, so our tally was about $8.00 for both of us. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable and the ice cream quality and size did not disappoint, either. We sat outside on the rear patio, where we enjoyed our ice cream while taking in a view of the gorgeous gardens out back. Row after row of beautiful flowers and shrubs surrounded the patio area. I must admit, I never would have known they had such a cute garden oasis out back, judging from the front of the building. Now, that's a way to enjoy an ice cream cone on a hot summer day. One caveat, though- it's strictly "look, but don't touch." There was a sign warning customers not to walk around the garden. As for the parking, it was a bit congested and limited, at best. The parking lot was tight and didn't allow for too many vehicles to enter/exit at once. Truthfully, we had a difficult time getting a parking spot and more people showed up after we did. Something should be done about that. In other words, if four or more cars show up at one time (on top of the employees/owners vehicles), good luck getting a parking spot. You probably won't find one. One plus, though- they're open late every night (til about 10 or 11 p.m.). Like most ice cream shops, they're seasonal. We were told they typically close for the season by Oct. 1. I wouldn't exactly say that I'm "over the moon" about this ice cream shop, but it was cute and the ice cream was great, so I'll stop in again soon.
