Food was excellent as was the service; prompt and courteous. The venues I've been to were very clean.

Best mushroom/Swiss burger in town! Also where else will you get custard like Culver's?

A little more than MC D's or BK but the quality is SO much better. Highly recommend if you're looking for high quality fast food!

Great burger and fries! Only issue for me and wife the burgers could've been hotter. Served just above warm-ish

Tried this place today for the first time while visiting for a few hours…read more I'm born and raised in northern AL but don't make it out to Decatur very much. I'd heard from a friend that these were different but really good, and was told I'd either love it or hate it. I love a good greasy spoon establishment, and I'd read a little about the place before visiting, so I knew somewhat I was getting into. I was so satisfied with the double cheeseburger I ate today! It's interesting and hard to describe, but I immediately wished I had another in front of me when I was done. Given, I was very hungry, but I practically inhaled it. I do want to say: keep in mind that these are ZERO frills. But the goodness lies in the simplicity. They use an old recipe from the Great Depression where they would stretch meat dishes with flour/ bread because it was more cost-effective. The result is a burger that is simple, filling, with an almost nugget-like patty in texture, but if you like the texture of fast food chicken nuggets, translate that be big enough to put between buns and made with beef. If that sounds off-putting, then you might not be a fan. I do agree with my friend that you'll either love it or hate it, but if you visit with the above in mind, it might not blindside you so much when you take that first bite. I'll be back next time I'm in Decatur!

We are…read moreproviding TWO stars because it was clean and the staff was very friendly, but the food just didn't "do it" for us. It all started when I went to wash my hands. I washed my hands & then dried them, but the only way to open the trash can to throw away the brown 'towel"l was to physically use my hands to open it. So, I had to use my clean hands to open the top of the trash can...leave it open...and then rewash my hands so I could throw stuff away. I am not a germaphobe, but I prefer to wash my hands before I eat. There are better bathroom trash cans options at Lowe's or Home Depot that create a more efficient bathroom. Then, our food arrived. We ordered some wings and split a Philly Cheesesteak. The Philly Cheesesteak was average, but they had already run out of mushrooms (@ 11:45 in the morning). The bread on the cheesesteak was good; however, the wings were a colossal disappointment. They were so "not good" that we didn't even finish them. We REALLY wanted to enjoy Buffalo Luke's, but even the fries were overcooked. Also, when a Buffalo wings establishment charges 35¢ for an "extra" sauce (blue cheese or ranch), that is 100% fine, but the containers were so shallow that there was barely enough blue cheese in each cup for two wings. Finally, and this is picky...but it matters. I realize that times are tight because our economy is in complete shambles...so buying the cheapest paper towels from the dollar store is an easy way to save money. But, when a patron tries to pull off a "full" sheet to wipe his or her sticky fingers that are soaked in Buffalo hot sauce..,you really need a full sheet. Repeatedly, every single pull resulted in "half a sheet" (or less) because the paper towels were so cheap. So, I probably used twice as many paper towels as I actually needed...and that added frustration for me because it took away from my dining experience. I recommend purchasing better paper towels (to go with the upgraded trash can in the bathroom). Sadly, we gave Buffalo Luke's a fair shot, but we will not be returning because it just didn't cut the mustard.

The bathrooms are always clean. There is plenty of parking. The employees are always friendly and nice looking. The food is fresh and made to order. The fries are the best anywhere around! You can not beat fresh cut potatoes fried in peanut oil! To die for! They always give you plenty in the bag. The hot dogs are all beef and really good quality! My daughter loves them with cheese on them. Kids get a free drink when they order. Which is always nice. A cup of ice water is free. You have to pay for ice water at half of the places now a days, like McDonalds and Tenders. Not here. They also have to go ketchup containers for you to pack up as much as you need for the road. That's handy if you have a ketchup lover in your home. If you order a regular burger that will come with 2 patties. A small burger comes with one patty. I order a small and get so many toppings on mine, like bell pepper, onions, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, bbq sauce, mayo, etc. that my burger is just as big when it's said and done as a regular one is. They have a variety of soft drinks and sweet and unsweet tea, if that is your thing, as well. Overall, they may be more expensive then the value menu at Burger King, but you'll get a fresher, less processed meal that has the best fries in the world with it. Very worth the money.

First of all, we got nasty glares and even a head shake from the employees when we approached the door. They all disappeared behind the wall and not one, not two, but three employees one at a time poked their head out, glared at us, then went back to the kitchen. We were about to leave when a sweet older cashier came out to take our order. I ordered the Cookout burger, House style which is with Quesadilla sauce, and a small Cajun fry. My husband ordered chili cheese fries. I usually take pictures of my food but I was so uncomfortable because of the employee glares and then I was shocked at how awful and sad my food looked, pictures were the last thing on my mind. The burger was tiny overall, bun was dry and grainy, beef was thin and dry with a quarter-sized spot of quesadilla sauce, a leaf of lettuce, and one slice of tomato. Also, when I ordered Cajun fries, I was sadly picturing Five Guys' Cajun fries. These are not even close. These are the crinkle cut fries with some Cajun seasoning sprinkled on top. They were room temperature & kind of dry. I usually try to do good reviews, but we were so disappointed and a little annoyed with our first ever visit to a Cookout.
