I visited Culver's on McHenry Road, and ordered medium cheese curds and a small mint Oreo concrete mixer. After waiting more than 10 minutes, I asked the cashier who took my order whether my food was coming out he told me someone would bring it to me during that time. I watched employees bring food to other customers, but my order was never brought out. I spoke with Lorena, the assistant manager, while she was delivering food to another customer I asked where my food was and requested a refund. She apologized, took my card and returned with a refund receipt and, a ticket for a free meal Lorena apologized again and said she did not know what happened noting that she thought I had only ordered a concrete mixer clarified that I had ordered cheese curds, and expressed my disappointment. She asked if I would please give the restaurant another chance, but I was not given an explanation for customers who ordered after me receive their food while I did not the experience has made me very hesitant to eat at this location again. read more

I've lived in BG/the area for 28 years. Now I remember why I don't come here. Every single time there is an issue. TODAY MY MONEY WAS STOLEN BY CESAR! I paid with a gift card but only part of the gift card was used (rest charged to my credit card). Cesar was on duty as manager & gave me such a hard time that the giftcard didn't pull entire amount. He gave me attitude as if i caused the issue. Instead of simple drive thru order, I had to go inside and wait for my order to be voided. I got home and the amount taken off my gift card was missing!! Absolutely ridiculous waste of my time. Now I remember why I didn't use this entire gift card. I called to let Cesar know about the missing money and the phone keeps going to voicemail. My kids absolutely love Culver's. Did you know that all their kids meals come with a frozen custard AND a drink? Other places only give you one or the other. While we don't order Culver's all the time, it's a nice treat once in a while when you don't feel like cooking and want something quick and easy. You can get grilled onions on your burgers which is nice. We also like that they rotate flavors of their custard of the day. It helps make it feel special when you go. read more

Heads up to all delivery drivers! The employees at this location are extremely unfriendly and downright belligerent. They are claiming to act according to management guidelines. They will treat you like a piece of dirt. It seems they already have you convicted, thinking you're going to steal their food, before you even have a chance to pick up the order. Now I know that it is a problem within the industry that some drivers will help themselves to food rather than to deliver it. But you cannot put everybody in the same basket. They have the driver's names and pictures and they should take that extra step to verify that they're giving the food to the correct person rather than making the driver feel like they are a criminal. read more

This is our favorite neighborhood fast food joint, admittedly we're here a few times a month for dinner if not more haha. The staff are all so friendly to the point that some recognize our family. The burgers are always fresh and made to order and there's always great options if that's not what we're feeling. The pot roast dinner if we're feeling fancy, the chopped steak is just a burger patty with mushroom and onion gravy if you want to save the carbs, and the fried fish is always crispy and flaky. The food comes out fast and fresh even when there's a rush. Judging by all the other families who are there I don't think we're the only ones who feel this way! read more

He rings up the customers with care and concern to make sure all orders are done right . He will jump from register to assist delivery drivers . I seen door dash guys come in no one help them . Fine location but burgers are sub standard to say the least...this is what my meat looked like on my first burger there in quite some time. When I asked the employee if this was normal, he hesitated and said "well they are supposed to be smashed". One side was complete leather while the other looked like a gnarly bristle pad. I have been here a couple of times (only) to get their frozen custard flavor of the day (concretes) and not any meals. I received good service and had good, tasty frozen custard (first time - Dulce de Leche Cheesecake and second time - Creamy Lemon Crumble). Both were good. I liked the lemon one better. It was tangy and tart and packed a better flavor (to me) than the DdLC one. That one was a bit too sweet for my liking. In both the frozen custards' case, I had them as a concrete (with mix-ins). You are allowed two mix-ins at no extra cost except any nuts are an extra $1. I had the DdLC one with salted caramel and the lemon one with raspberries and cashews. My favorite was the lemon one. As I have mentioned before in a different Culver's restaurant review, I usually like going to Culver's for their frozen custard and fried fish and not so much for their burgers. But, I will check out their food here sometime in the near future. read more

Went to the Buffalo grove store at 5:20 today. Ordered 10 piece shrimp dinner and 3 piece cod dinner and 2 - 3 scoop hot fudge sundays with extra fudge with a closed lid. what I received is attached after 2nd attempt. first time small ice cream contained open lid. 6 piece shrimp and 2 piece cod and no extra fudge and melted sundays. Manager sergio told me to calm down because I was upset that they could not get a simple order straight. Tried to explain to Kid making sundays that I paid for extra fudge but I do not think he understood english. This is now the 3rd consecutive time that your store did not make the order right. When you were here the store ran perfectly. I will not be going to the store for some time after my 3 consecutive bad orders. If you decide to actually get a staff inside the store that can make the orders correct please let me know and I may start to come back which is usually 2-3 times a week. By the way other people in the store said they have to check orders before they leave. read more

My toddler nieces were raving about their custard, so we had to try it for ourselves. Surprisingly, they have a drive thru at this sit down type of restaurant. We opted to be lazy and went through the drive thru. I noticed a lot of unique items in their menu, which I promptly ordered: Frozen custard ($4.79) Spicy chicken sandwich ($4.99) Mushroom and swiss melt double butterburger ($5.19) Cheese curds. ($3.79) Frozen custard was delicious. It actually felt healthy eating it :) Spicy chicken sandwich had a good kick to it. It was light, and not too heavy. Mushroom and swiss double butterburger was seriously one of the best burgers I have had. The bun, and the cheese, and the mushroom, and the beef just melted in my mouth as soon as I took a bite. So it's an incremental improvement from the last time I was here, but it's still not a place that has regained my loyalty. On one hand the food was warm enough (the fries were hot and crisp, to my satisfaction) but the overall flavors weren't all that fascinating. One call out is that the bacon on the burger is extremely limp and thin. The crew members weren't all that friendly and seemed confused, but they were okay. My order also took a bit longer to make than I anticipated, but at least it was accurate. I used to go to this Culver's a lot. I always get the garden Fresco with chicken and another chicken. I have a salt allergy so I always ask for my chicken to be made plain no salt no seasoning. I give an old receipt to copy, because I have other disabilities and it's easier. I was there Memorial Day at 4:00. The manager Patricia who knows me ignored me. I was the only one standing in line, but she never came over. Other people came she started took their orders. I talked to Kevin and his assistant. They apologize and sent me a coupon for a free salad. Wasn't even worth $10. So I made an issue out of that too. Why do they have sign to let them know if you have any allergies when they're not going to take your order. Omg, this walleye sandwich was so delicious! The batter was really light and the walleye was soft, juicy and lots of flavor! I was impressed that it came out steaming hot! Most of the time if you go to any fast food chain, it's not hot and no taste! I also was impressed on their service, they are top notch for a fast food chain! The sandwich was very filling so I didn't get their custard which they are known for! So I will have to go back and get their custard! The original fast casual concept, order at the front, get a number sit down and be served. The featured item for Culver's is: their butterburger...or is it the custard? Or is it their extensive comfort food dinner menu? Whatever you are looking for, Culver's should have what you are craving. My usual stop when I'm getting back from Wisconsin on a weekend, I'm glad I don't have to drive another 40mins just to get a custard. Culver's started originally in Wisconsin, as a classic burger, custard and shake joint. Its since grown through expansion through the midwest and beyond. Seeing a Culver's is almost like seeing a trusted old friend. Familiar and haha beckoning me to have a bowl of custard. For me, since I have an insatiable desire for custard, Culver's is about the custard. So rich, creamy and delectable. They have a flavor of the day which keeps it interesting if you must have it everyday. But I enjoy their classic vanilla. Their menu is quite extensive, so it could take a while to figure out what you want. I usually see people position themselves far from the cashiers as they take in all their options. Perhaps Culver's should consider reducing their menu as a result with just occasional specials to keep the ordering experience easy. I usually see people pondering for a while staring at the overhead board menus. Fried fish and chips to pot roast to fried chicken and of course burgers, chicken sandwich and pork tenderloin sandwich's, oh and then cheese curds.... Today there was a special for $5 for the cheeseburger single value basket which comes with fries and a med drink. Good deal, and apparently they usually run specials, just ask the cashier (you'll feel like you're being told a secret cause they don't post it.). I had the cheeseburger with the works and it was just ok. Drier patty and the bread was no as toasted as I've had before, also the cheese slice was not melted. Also had an order of the cheese curds, which was good, but didn't have the same teeth squishy texture/sound as the ones I've gotten from Wisconsin Culver's. Fries are crinkle cut and delicious. Most of the staff are on the younger side and probably less experienced as the front of the house was not as knowledgeable with the menu or the running specials (had to ask another team member). Be patient, and just enjoy the custard... :)While I feel this Culver's tries to focus on service, as a member of the staff helped box up leftovers table side for an older couple. However, I think inexperience and training for the staff could use improvement. There is not as much interaction from the staff / customers as in other similar restaurant concepts these days. The staff is friendly though, and quick to address fixes though. Culver's makes themselves part of the community (sponsoring baseball teams and supporting the library reading programs). Which I really appreciate as I am part of this community, and Culver's still has me wanting to come back for custard. read more

Kevin Weasler and/or Culver's Corporate: At this point, I feel like your employees are stealing from me. On now three occasions, significant portions of our to-go orders have been missing: an 8pc. order of tenders, a 3pc. cod dinner, and multiple salads. The first time we called to remedy this, we were told that they'd put our name "on their list" for a credit on our next visit. Not ideal, but we did so. On our next visit (yes, to the same location), we were told that our name wasn't on their list. The next time our order was messed up, we called, and we were told that, "we have a new system and we can't issue a credit to the card" and that doing so was "against the law". Funny, because we've had credits issued by many, many other businesses (from fast food to furniture) without needing to present the card and without having to be present in the physical stores. The third time our order was wrong, we again called, and we were again told that they couldn't issue even a partial credit to our card due to their "new system". They instead told us (again) that they could put our name on their list. We told them that the last time we did this, our name never made it to their list. They then said, "well then you'll have to come back to the store for a credit". Culver's, you're stealing from me. I'm not talking about forgetting an order of fries or something like a sauce or dressing. I'm talking entire entrees. I should not have to double check every order due to the fact that your staff apparently does not. I should also not have to jump through hoops (including repeated double trips to your store) to get a credit or the missing items of my order. You're getting two stars only because we generally like your food... but since you keep stealing from us, we probably won't return to your particular location unless/until you can either get your orders correct or at least issue credits in a way that aren't grossly inconvenient to the customer. read more

My kids have been on a chicken finger marathon this past week, and we went to Culver's, because we heard their chicken fingers were some of the best in the area. Sorry to blow all the great reviews, but this was such a huge miss. First and foremost, the customer service here is really fantastic. They had someone shaking hands and greeting people at the door. That was a nice touch, but I'm a germaphobe and completely worried about that person getting sick with the flu going around. I didn't shake hands, but my hubby did and I made him wash his hands before eating...ha! Our food had some serious mishaps tonight. My hubby's chicken sandwich came out red and undercooked. That really freaked us out. He had them make a new one, but he was hesitant to eat it. It was just okay compared with some of our other favorite chicken sandwich stops. The cheeseburger was good...three stars good. We eat a lot of cheeseburgers and this one just wasn't memorable for us. Perhaps we had an off night? It just wasn't very juicy like I had hoped, but the bun was buttery delicious. As far as my kiddos' chicken fingers, he's a trusted chicken finger eater, and he said it tasted like frozen Tyson. I took a bite, and I kid you not...it did! What? That's impossible, but I swear we must have had an off night. I'm definitely more of a burger lover than an ice cream lover. I come here for the really good cooked to order cheeseburgers. Single, double, triple cheeseburgers. I love the crunch that the flat top grill puts on patty. The side dish choices are one of my favs as well due to the variety. Green beans, mashed potatoes, onion rings, cheese curds, cole slaw and of course crinkle cut fries either sweet or regular ole potato. Five stars for the burgers, four stars for the sides as they are nowhere as good as the burgers. Dining in is the smart choice here since you'd want that burger in your hands as soon as it come off of the grill. I want one NOW. read more

The custard at this location is a good alternative to making a trip up to Wisconsin for custard or eating a frozen treat at one of the local small businesses. The custard is nice and creamy with distinct flavors and better-than-average toppings. It's really easy to distinguish the key themes and ingredients with each creation although there's not really any special element to elevate it to a must-have dessert. But the prices are good for this and the portion sizes are large, so it's worth making a trip here for custard on a warm summer night. However, the hot food fails to impress me at any of the Culver's locations. It's not bad but it's very generic hot food that fails to really impress in any way. It's not very expensive, but not very cheap either -- almost encouraging me to go to specialty fast food or fast casual restaurants to get slightly better prices and cooking for each dish they offer. The only good part of this food however is that they use noticably nicer local ingredients, but this doesn't really translate into better flavors. The texture is not bad -- crispy items like fries, chicken tenders, and cheese curds are crisp and the burger patty has nice crisp edges... but the flavor is fairly bland in not distinct from what I get from the prepared section of grocery stores. Perhaps part of my experience is caused by tasting items in a different order since the meat is at the top of the stack of each sandwich instead of at the bottom (try it, it's a bit different experience when you taste meat first versus meat last) -- but still if there were additional flavor elements, there would be other items to please the palate. 4-stars since it's a bit better than other Culvers locations and as a custard shoppe, it is a good option. I have had several issues with this Culvers that is located close to my home. The service has been poor. The servers have been unkind and indifferent. The food has been cold. Can someone please tell the staff that the ice cream items should not be made until bring them out immediately to the person in the car. I would like to see this location be the best. The quality is good when it is done right! But when they get it wrong, it is really bad! The key to success in fast food is consistency! Fast food is no longer cheap for a family of four! When someone on a tight budget chooses your location try not to let them regret it!!!! read more

So I'm partial to this location. I have a history with them. They were always so good food friendly employees and I didn't mind paying more bcuz it actually used to feel like I was getting something in return for higher price. But since covid the portions have gotten so bad I feel like it must make even culvers sad to serve. This on their burgers. I've ordered cheese curds consistent ice cream consistent. But the butter burger is just not the same. It saddens me. The thing that saves this location for me is I see everyone happy to be here. Very family friendly. But I just wish someone would fix the patty on that burger. Cuz it don't support the cost. It so super thin now you must know that going to hurt in the long run. Culver's is one of the better fast food options in the area. Freshly made burgers, fries, chicken, etc. They do also have salads and dinners if you want something different. I personally am not a huge frozen custard fan but that's personal preference. My kids love it and all kids meals come with a free scoop. The lemon I've is my favorite as an appetite to the custard. The staff at this location are particularly amazing, extremely friendly and helpful. The owner and his staff are very active in the community and give back to all the local schools, sports leagues and organizations very generously as well as catering many school activities at a reasonable cost. They've recently renovated and the new design is modern and comfortable. While I sometimes tire of eating here, my kids would come weekly if given the chance. And I'm happy to give business to a great community supporter when we need a quick bite to eat nearby. read more

Same fare as the other Culver's in the area. My only gripe is that they routinely do not provide napkins at the drive through. I wish they had a sign outside that shows what the flavor of the day is, however I bet that is more a Buffalo Grove permitting thing than a decision by the restaurant. Drew is a Buffalo Grove fixture and I always enjoy when he is the one who takes my order. The place is kept clean and the staff is always friendly. Wow, just had a double with cheese and pickles only! Ordered it well done - I love the sear and have discovered that ordering it well done it's still moist with an incredible caramelized crust. The bun was soft, the pickles were crisp and the cheese was melted. Extraordinary, in my opinion probably the best fast food burger anywhere. I also have learned to request well done fries too - they also raised the bar. Finished it off with a Culver's private label root beer. This specific location does a great job and I always stop by when in Buffalo Grove - it's worth the drive!!!!! read more

First time they brought us 2 bags (not looking like our entire order) and 2 milkshakes - claiming that everything is there.... We actually had to pull the receipt to prove that we were missing items. Then it turned out that they didn't put cheese curds in the order at all - they were definitely there when the order was read back to is. As we are waiting for the curds and missing milk shakes we checked and didn't find chicken strips either.... It was a long wait, but just how can order taking be sooo poor? read more

Seven years, and almost 40 visits, after my first review, I can still say this is one amazing place to eat "fast food" that rises above the typical casual restaurant. Much of this has to do with the staff. They are so good at making sure everything is perfect that it defies logic. Today we had a Reuben with Cole Slaw, and a Double Mushroom Butterburger with Green Beans - yes, you can get healthy sides as a substitute for fries on a combo. We followed these with a pair of 2 scoop sundaes. Everything was wonderful.
