This park brings back a whole lot of memories. In high school, it was the spot for weekend barbecues, unofficial softball tournies against rival schools, dirt bike racing (not allowed), boozin' (also not allowed), rollerblading and walking the trails with my sweetums. This park is equipped with baseball fields, soccer fields, restrooms, picnic tables, grills, playgrounds, and HEB water station, an archery field and a five-mile trail that stretches all the way to Hwy 6 and Patterson (near the Houston Farm & Ranch Club). It's clean with plenty of parking and lighting, but the reason for my less than five star rating is because of the flooding. When it rains, even just a mild shower, the soccer fields completely flood. But that's because of its proximity to the Addicks and Barker Reservoir.

Enter trail here at Hwy 6 and Patterson-very hidden

Great flat road for running especially when windy or too hot... Lots of shade I am a runner and I run 8 miles at Cullen park about 3 to 4 days a week. I like it because it is quiet and gives my eyes beautiful landscaping and trees to look at while I run. In the summer the park is great because of all of the shading that makes the temperatures tolerable. For the runner/cyclist/ walker this is pancake flat trail so there is no surprise inclines to worry about. I love it, its my go to park

Cullen Park. Home of your local adult softball beer league. I've played in both the guys and coed leagues. The fields are not bad considering the brutal summers and sometimes wet springs. The people that play here are pretty laid back and don't take things too seriously. It's not a bad place to be if you want to get picked up for a game in which a team needs an extra player. The bathrooms could use a little attention, but other than that it's a nice park. The snack bar stocks the basic necessities for both players and spectators.

Two weeks ago my son, husband and I rode our bikes here for the first time. It was great because it was a hot day but it's so nicely shaded! The trails are not too bad. Just a little bumpy. The park is huge! When we first arrived we saw a lot of soccer and baseball fields but no trails. We kept driving and there was another entrance to the park and that's when we found the trails. We parked and were the only ones there. I thought that was kind of weird since there were a ton of people at the soccer fields but not here. Anyhow, we went on and saw plenty of people on the trails (cycling, running, walking). We even saw a doe wth her two babies. Cute! By the time we got back there were other cars in the parking lot. Maybe we just got there a little early and others were waiting to hit the trails when it wasn't so hot? The point? No need to worry about safety! We will be back!

This park is gorgeous! However, as a pregnant lady, I cannot understand why on earth the restrooms are locked on a Saturday...

Plus, it doesn't cut through any roads (so no stopping at traffic lights or fear of getting hit by a car) AND bikes are not allowed!! This makes it the perfect place for runners to get lost in their thoughts while getting 3 miles in - at least, that's what I like to do. Haha! Recently, they did a bunch of restoration work and have opened up a cute little pond area along with more trails to explore. These are great for walking and getting to enjoy nature without having to leave the city. Additionally, they've added a LOT more parking which is nice, however it's not free. Even the old lot that I always used to park at (the parking lot located in front of the outdoor pool) now requires you to pay. To avoid this, you can park at the lot next to the baseball fields (what I usually do), but it's almost always full. You can also park at the church behind the fields, just as long as they're not having a service at that time. The tennis courts also have some parking, but that's also usually full. If you're brave enough, you can try to parallel park on some of the streets that go through the park.... But I find that to be pretty risky with all the constant movement occurring everywhere. If you're looking to enjoy some nature without having to drive super far, definitely consider coming out here! Bring some friends, a picnic or go for a walk/run. There's something for everyone here!

In a city that is known for tearing down and paving over so much of our history, it is wonderful that this was saved and has been made into a place that visitors can visit and experience. I went with some friends from Kingwood on a Photo Walk of the area, we were lucky that the light and sound experience was still going on, each column in the cistern has LED lighting that changes to the tune of some aethereal music playing silently, the acoustics of the cistern make it sound so beautiful and mesmerizing. When you purchase your ticket online you choose one of the available times, upon entry they give you 30 minutes, the time passed quickly. Be ready if you are taking pictures or better yet, a video. Smart phones work great but you might consider turning off auto focus and just focusing manually if you know how because when it gets dark for a moment and then the lights come on most cameras auto focus has to search for focus so it goes in and out of focus. When you leave, there is a skateboard park up above and worth some time for taking pictures of the acrobatic skating going on.

Here and there, I spotted a delicate cherry blossom and a few early blooms, though I wish I had visited at the peak of flower season. The garden itself is exquisitely designed and every corner seems crafted for peace, and I truly enjoyed the calm atmosphere. It felt like a small escape from the city hustle. That said, I did notice the cleanliness was a bit of an issue; the garden could definitely use some extra care to keep it pristine. Another small drawback was the restroom situation. There are only two available, and both were quite busy, so I ended up waiting a while and eventually decided it wasn't worth it. Still, the park draws a lovely crowd with people come to stroll, reflect, and soak in the beauty. If I'm in Houston again at a better time, I'll absolutely return to see the garden in full bloom. It has so much potential, and with a little more attention to detail, it could be a true hidden gem.
