Nice park - well maintained- good walking trails to exercise. Needs more benches - pavilions

Solid park in/near Katy where you can get some steps in via a jog/walk along the trail which is mostly shaded by trees. Also has some playgrounds and grass areas to lay out. Most people I saw were walking pets here or taking strolls to clear their minds. Maybe I'll bring my bike here and explore the next time I'm in this area. You'll notice a sign and gate when you turn here. Don't be alarmed, some think you'll be locked in with the gate. I can assure you that won't be the case. read more

Nice park on the far west side of town great for hiking and picnics and what not. We were hiking and it seemed to go on forever so it would be a nice path for a bike ride too while you watch planes take off from the small airport there. read more

Nice jogging trails. Lots of tables for picnics. You will need your own barbeque pit though. They also have remodled the playgrounds. A lot of the restrooms are closed and might not have paper if you find an opened one. One of the workers told me they tend to keep them closed due to different men meeting up after work to swashbuckle with each other and random people that caught them sword fighting called up the parks dept. to complain. There is no dog park here so keep them on a leash read more

This park brings back a whole lot of memories. In high school, it was the spot for weekend barbecues, unofficial softball tournies against rival schools, dirt bike racing (not allowed), boozin' (also not allowed), rollerblading and walking the trails with my sweetums. This park is equipped with baseball fields, soccer fields, restrooms, picnic tables, grills, playgrounds, and HEB water station, an archery field and a five-mile trail that stretches all the way to Hwy 6 and Patterson (near the Houston Farm & Ranch Club). It's clean with plenty of parking and lighting, but the reason for my less than five star rating is because of the flooding. When it rains, even just a mild shower, the soccer fields completely flood. But that's because of its proximity to the Addicks and Barker Reservoir. read more

This park is gorgeous! However, as a pregnant lady, I cannot understand why on earth the restrooms are locked on a Saturday...

First time I experienced Cullen Park, and I really enjoyed the park. It is part of Bear Creek - the Army Reserves, We went on the walking trails and I felt like I was someone where else! It was nice to take my mind off the world today and enjoy nature.. I also got to see 2 red cardinals, one on the beginning of our walk and the second one at the end of out walk. I believe my papa or ex or loved one was with me! I will be going back very soon. Ready to play - throw a Frisbee, Nerf football or fly a kite. Thank goodness they opened the parks after Easter weekend or I would have never had this experience. I will be back! read more

Cullen park is awesome! I had been there before and enjoyed some hiking with a friend of mine. The park has a trail that takes you through pretty cool sites. I always pass by this park on my way to my sister's and always see people playing soccer, or special events going on (animal planet was there the other day). Cullen park is located on Barker Cypress and Saums off of I-10. Today my sis and I decided to go read at the park and fly kites. We found the perfect spot with just the right amount of shade and open enough for our kites. We put our blankets down and became "one with nature". Birds chirping, butterflies flying by, little kids on their bikes, wonderful breeze caressing our faces, it was just great. We flew our kites for a while and the space was perfect for it. Although mine flew away and got stuck on a tree. Don't panic though, I was able to retrieve it. I would definitely recommend Cullen park if you want to go walking, jogging, biking, hiking, rollerblading or maybe just play soccer or fly kites. There's space for anything and everything there. You can even just take a blanket and have a great picnic or even a nice nap. I have not explored the whole park yet, as it is huge, but I can definitely say it is an enjoyable natural environment. Pack up a blanket, your kids (or dog) and get yourself to Cullen park, you can thank me later. read more

Great flat road for running especially when windy or too hot... Lots of shade I am a runner and I run 8 miles at Cullen park about 3 to 4 days a week. I like it because it is quiet and gives my eyes beautiful landscaping and trees to look at while I run. In the summer the park is great because of all of the shading that makes the temperatures tolerable. For the runner/cyclist/ walker this is pancake flat trail so there is no surprise inclines to worry about. I love it, its my go to park read more

Cullen Park. Home of your local adult softball beer league. I've played in both the guys and coed leagues. The fields are not bad considering the brutal summers and sometimes wet springs. The people that play here are pretty laid back and don't take things too seriously. It's not a bad place to be if you want to get picked up for a game in which a team needs an extra player. The bathrooms could use a little attention, but other than that it's a nice park. The snack bar stocks the basic necessities for both players and spectators. read more

Honestly this is my favorite park to go to to hang out with friends and to just chill and sometimes you'll see hogs or deer and natural wildlife and I really want it to stay that way I don't want it to get too overcrowded but if you want to take a date here or something to just chill and watch the sunset it's pretty nice read more

Two weeks ago my son, husband and I rode our bikes here for the first time. It was great because it was a hot day but it's so nicely shaded! The trails are not too bad. Just a little bumpy. The park is huge! When we first arrived we saw a lot of soccer and baseball fields but no trails. We kept driving and there was another entrance to the park and that's when we found the trails. We parked and were the only ones there. I thought that was kind of weird since there were a ton of people at the soccer fields but not here. Anyhow, we went on and saw plenty of people on the trails (cycling, running, walking). We even saw a doe wth her two babies. Cute! By the time we got back there were other cars in the parking lot. Maybe we just got there a little early and others were waiting to hit the trails when it wasn't so hot? The point? No need to worry about safety! We will be back! read more

At 10,534 acres, Cullen Park is one of the largest U.S. municipal parks filled with things to do. I've gone out there to do a little batting practice or hike along the wooded trails. There are multiple playgrounds and soccer fields for those wanting to get some time out in the sun and are up for a game. In addition to the acres of wild green, there is the Alkek Velodrome for cyclists. One of only 19 in the nation, it hosts a variety of events for biking enthusiasts. Even if you want to go off road with your two wheeler, you've got 7 miles from which to choose your adventure on the trails in the park. Picnic areas and playgrounds abound and there's even the HEB Water Playground where kids of all ages can splash in the wet fun and get soaked during the heat of the summer. I give this a five -star because yes the park served it's purpose for me and my grandson. The is nicely tucked away, in between the soccer fields, and baseball fields, is a lovely picnic area with a water splash pad, and it's FREE. Yes, hours of fun for FREE, play, rest, play, rest, play. The splash pad was never really crowded, which was great. We enjoyed the splash pad and did not venture to the other areas, but will be back again to splash around. This would be a great place to pack a picnic and bring a blanket with a few lawn chairs to sit and relax away from it all, perhaps catch a ball game or even a soccer game. read more

The paved trails at Cullen Park are good for walking your dog or riding your bike, rollerblading, etc. We went on a Sunday and it was pretty busy, but not to the point where we felt crowded. Most of the trail is protected by lots of foliage and trees so it keeps the temperature down during those hot summer days. Tips: Bring water with you if you plan to go for a long walk - I didn't see any water fountains. If you're walking your dog prepare to hold on to those poop bags because I only saw one or two trash cans along the whole stretch. read more

They play a lot of soccer games here and there is something for everyone. Love it only wish there was a bit more shades areas.

GREAT PLACE FOR SOFTBALL !! Let's start with this park is awesome for softball, baseball, kids to play and to hangout with the friends and family. The fields are lite up awesome, kinda bright at night when your playing ball lol, you can lose the ball in the lights lol. The place is very well kept, there's 4 fields for softball, baseball, soccer fields to play. There's a concession stand for food but they aren't open late Tuesday nights or Friday nights during late softball games. That's something I can definitely recommend they do is open them up for the grown ups softball games. Can't wait to go play this week. It's game time :) read more

I have been coming here for 8 months for a quick lunch walk. Today somebody broke into my car in the light of the day, stole my purse, and it took about 2 hours to get a police to come to the crime scene. The moral is that the predators are watching for their victims, especially at the places where people are coming to relax from the stress of the day..... Be aware and be vigilant, watch for the bad guys before they cause any harm to you in our great state of Texas! I hope these bastards will get caught sooner or later. Joggers be aware! read more

As a runner, Cullen park is fantastic. The trail is nice and well kept. Can get 8-10 miles out and back depending where you hop on. It's hard in Houston/Katy to find good areas to get away and work out / have fun without battling cars...this place hits all marks. Go enjoy it! read more

I seriously under-estimated this park when I first drove up because *silly me* I couldn't find the trail! Once I did, I discovered my own little piece of heaven in Cypress/Katy. It falls short of lady bird lake and trail in Austin, but I'll take what I can get. I foresee many walks/pretend-to-runs and picnic trips in my future! read more

I coordinated a company event here for last weekend. I loved the park itself - its great that we could bring food and drinks and have plenty of room for everyone. The only negative was that I purposefully reserved the field until 9pm (we only needed it until 7pm) because last year when I had it until 7pm the lights weren't turned on even though the sun starts going down after around 5-5:30pm this time of year. By 6:30, its DARK! I was told I didn't reserve the field for long enough to have the lights turned on. This year I booked almost 3 months in advance, and called twice leading up to our date to confirm the lights would be turned on. The response was always "yes of course" or "we always schedule for the lights to be turned on when fields are reserved that late." Then shortly after 5pm when the lights still weren't coming on (they take a while to warm up), I tried calling and got only voicemails. Ended up calling 311 who was able to connect me with a person after spending about 30 minutes calling around and getting no where. By 6:30pm we were finally informed that they would send someone to turn on the lights. This softball tournament has been at Cullen Park for several years in a row now, and its just the last 2 years that we've had this issue, but when you're dealing with so many people, I don't know if we'll come here next year. This was seemingly such a simple detail that almost ruined our entire day read more

This was my first time here. Parking is great and lots of open space for any activities. We got 2 picnic tables near each other. Which was great. There was also a water area for little kids to play. The only bad part about that is big and small kids roam the area and of course the bigger kids played a little rougher. So I didn't let my so play. He had a much better time playing ball with the adults. But all in all...it was awesome. The weather was beautiful. read more

Absolutely one of the highlights of living so close. We have always enjoyed the serenity of Cullen Park when our children were younger. I live VERY close to Cullen Park and I love that there is a park right literally 3 minutes from home. This park offers everything from picnic areas to baseball,softball and soccer fields. There isn't another park in this area that offers so much not only to the residents that live close but to those that choose to drive from other areas of Houston to to enjoy what this park has to offer. Unfortunately most of the folks that choose to enjoy Cullen Park also CHOOSE not to take care of it. People use the soccer fields and the folks that sit on the sidelines watching don't feel it necessary to pick up their trash. People using the picnic areas don't feel it's necessary to pick up their trash. THERE ARE TRASH CANS ALL OVER THAT PARK!! As I drove down Saums this evening there was trash all over the park, the soccer fields, and in the ditch along Saums. When I turned down Barker Cypress and past the soccer fields there was a group of men laying on the fields with cases of beer with cans all over the ground surrounding them. REALLY???? You come to this park and enjoy what it has to offer but you can't pick up after yourselves? If this is how you treat our parks I can only imagine what your homes look like. What gives you the right and makes you think you can go to a public park and throw trash on the ground and it's OK! I'd love to see your reaction if people were to come to your house and do the same. Show some respect people. Act like you appreciate the privilege you have to use this, or any other park. Act like you have a LITTLE class and aren't the trashy people you appear to be. Do you need instructions on how to throw away your trash???? It's really a no brainer folks, enjoy the park, pick up after yourselves. read more

Great place to walk, run or ride a bike. Love the scenery and shaded trails to break the heat. A mountain lion jumped in front of me on the trail while walking and we were both a little startled as it ran off into the thick brush today. I've seen deer occasionally and many different bird types for the bird watchers. Nice get-a-way close to home for some relaxation and exercise! read more

Love bike riding through this park...if you go down and back 2 times it it should equal out to around 12 miles. Last time I was here we stopped off at the cemetery that is right off the trail...it is locked to the public, but there is a plaque that tells you who is buried there, and about the founders of the area. The oldest grave dates 1854! So awesome to get a little history along with your exercise! I come here every weekend, and really love all the shade this trail offers. Even in the sweltering heat, the trees and breeze can really cool you down. Like other reviewers have said, this trail does flood, and then the mosquitoes can be pretty unbearable! if you are riding a bike and don't stop the mosquitoes aren't really an issue...but if you are a walker I would stay away after a good rain...you will be eaten alive! If you are lucky you may see some deer in the woods while you are here. This past weekend there were several woodpeckers. So amazing to feel the wildness of nature and glimpse into the past all on the same trail! read more

A friend and I went for walk today in Cullen Park. The trail is quite pleasant as it travels through a mostly wooded area, and it is easy walking since the trail is paved and completely level. The downside proved to be the proximity to the Westside airport. There was a constant barrage of small planes taking off every few minutes and flying at a low level directly over the trail. Personally, I found the persistent noise quite disturbing. As today was a Saturday, it might be that the level of aerial activity was unusually high, but I can't be sure since this was my first experience at Cullen Park. If you are looking for a quiet walk, this is probably not the place for you. read more
