I was very impressed with the service. My pet peeve is dirty dishes sitting in front of people and that did not happen! The wedding cake was delicious. White homemade cake with a light strawberry cream. My only suggestion would be to have had someone to serve all the pies. It was kind of awkward having to do it yourself. I definitely recommend Emily's for your next event.

They were helpful, responsive, and everything was clear and upfront. There were no surprise charges, or "gotchas". In fact they did several things beyond the scope of the contract without additional charges. More importantly, on the wedding day everything went perfectly. They gave us great advice on the set up of the tables, chairs, bar etc. They listened carefully to everything that was asked of them, made a couple of outstanding suggestions and dealt with the problems caused by strong gusts of wind at an outdoor venue with calm assurance. All of the food was incredible. The hor's d'ourves were fantastic, especially the brie and artichoke tarts, mini lobster rolls and tuna tacos. The mac and cheese in mini ramekins were also a huge hit. The dinners were equally delicious. I had the half chicken, which was served with a delicious polenta. It was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked, moist with a crispy skin. Other sides were served family style and were all fantastic. The dessert was also superb. Each guest received a trio of mini desserts, each of which was delightful. We had several guests with food restrictions (vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free). The servers made sure the restrictions were observed, and they made it a point to bring appropriate appetizers to those guests, which was a very nice touch. All of the guests raved about the food. The service was also first class. There were so many servers handling the passed hor's d'ourves that every guest had multiple chances to try each of the offerings. Service of the dinner was equally impressive. The venue is outdoors, and it is a bit of a hike from the kitchen tent to the dining area. Despite that, the guests were served quickly, and the food came to the table still hot. Finally, their prices are quite reasonable, especially given the outstanding quality of the food and service. A very good value.

Working with SKBT and Karen has been a joy from start to finish. From the moment we walked into our tasting to create our delicious menu, to last minute changes, to executing perfect food the day of, I want to relive this experience again and again. My guests raved about the menu, and some favorites included fun takes on cocktail meatballs, shrimp and grits, and chilled tomato soup shooters. The food was beautiful and displayed like it was in a magazine. Karen and her team were also in charge of staffing my event. This meant not only did they feed my guests, but bussed the tables, cleaned up trash, set up my pie display (Karen took it upon herself to clean out her stock of cake stands and create the most beautiful tables ever) and EVEN mop my bathroom trailer when it sprung a leak. As guests started to leave, SKBT cleaned every table and organized my decor. Best of all, Karen and her team were friendly and attentive the entire night. My bridal party had their own tray of appetizers waiting for them immediately following the ceremony, and all night the staff checked in on my husband and I (as well as my parents) to see how they could help. I eagerly look forward to having another event so I can hire this team again.

The best BBQ was always in some old repurposed gas station, picnic tables and brown paper on plastic trays. Well TACO is like that. it's located in a small building on Rte 32, just south of the old firestation (eagleville). When you walk in there are no tables, just chairs. There is a wall that has various hot sauces, napkins, plastic ware. A hand written sign with the food options and maybe a computer printed sign specifying a special. DO NOT LET THIS FOOL YOU. One bite of any of their Tacos or Burritos and you will be hooked. Beef options are all made with Grass Fed beef from a local farm just a few miles north. All of the produce is local and organic too. He smokes all of meats he uses himself. $18 for a beef Burrito! YES! and worth every penny, because when you lift it out of the bag, and realize that you don't have one meal but two... it is a bargen. I have had the Beef, Chicken and Mahi Mahi offerings and they are all delicious and memorable. You will find it difficult to enjoy a taco or burrito anywhere else, I have not found anywhere locally that stacks up to them. (Taco La Rosa (Willimantic) is close... but....) if you are in the area on Sundays the owner has been up at Green's Spring Hill farm on Route 32 in Mansfield making breakfast sandwiches with all that farm fresh awesomeness. Warm colors, wood accents, friendly staff. Not an overwhelming menu, I always like to see a place that is focusing on core foods and not trying to do too much. The blues may be a little too loud, but blues music is the soundtrack to BBQ food, especially Memphis style, so it's a good fit. I got a two meat combo plate, with ribs, burnt endz, bacon mac and cheese, and dill potato salad. Let's address the lesser aspects so we can end on a high note. The burnt endz. I assume they're spelled with a z in the same way spray can cheese is cheez. I know that there are only going to be so many true burnt ends with bark and tender meat inside per brisket, and so a restaurant is likely going to supplement with chopped point. However, there should not be huge fat caps on most of the cubes, or just cubes of fat. At least having some true burnt ends in an order would be nice too. The mac and cheese I received was delivered lukewarm, and I'm not sure what was up with that, so I didn't eat much of it. Now for the high point finisher! Those ribs man. These things were spectacular, and the light slap of sauce on them was just right to deliver the brown sugar flavor to your mouth without being excessive, or drown out the meat itself. When all these other reviews rave about the ribs being worth a drive, they mean it. Also, the dill potato salad is a win. Not heavy, not slap you with vinegar or mustard, but flavorful with dill and bacon. I scraped the bottom of my bowl to get it all. All in all, worth a visit, and another joint in Colchester that adds to the prestigious food scene that town is building.

I got to try some of the other dishes, and let me just say that the potato tacos should be a regular staple on the menu. I'd come back for just that! LOL Tony's is a Greek Style, neighborhood pizza spot. I ordered a large red pizza with "Grinder Meatball", peppers and onions when I was about 15 minutes out. I arrived. I took some pics from the parking lot, and by the time I walked inside, they had just pulled my pizza out of the oven and boxed it. The transaction was easy since I had paid online. If you order this Grinder Meatball topping, which seems to be somewhat of a signature, DO NOT, freak out when you open the box and don't see meatballs. The onions and peppers are on top of the cheese. And they mix up the thin sliced meatballs with the sauce, and put them under the cheese. Given how they work the Grinder Meatball topping, my comments may not apply to all of Tony's Pizzas. First of all, I like this style of thin cut , almost wiry, white onion and green peppers. Good appearance. Good flavor. The crust was medium thick and pan-crisped. Fairly standard Greek Style crust. Also, I liked the cheese, but it could have been a bit more well done for my tastes. It was well melted. But there was minimal marbling on top, which I like. I liked the meatball topping and Tony's gave you a lot of meatball pieces. Here's the only thing I didn't love about this pizza. Because the meatball slices were mixed into the sauce and they were so generous with the meatballs, the flavor of the sauce got lost. I couldn't tell if the sauce was average, good or very good. It just wasn't noticeable in relation to the meatball flavor. I would recommend asking for a side of sauce and dip pizza into the sauce, or maybe add extra sauce to the pizza. I think the crust would hold up to that. This probably wouldn't be an issue if you got a cheese pizza or a pepperoni pizza. Tony's has a bunch of inside seating. I suspect families eat hear regularly. I was there early. So I'm not sure how busy it gets. If I lived in the area, I could see regularly ordering from Tony's. I bet they have good meatball grinders too. 4.25 Stars

This is one of my favorite places to come for a celebration or just a regular day. The decor is always quirky and fun (giant paper machete figures high up - I assume from their Boombox Parade floats?), service is usually warm, friendly, and down to earth (the owner even came by to ask how everything was, which is a big deal in a building as massivee as this on a weekend night!) Their tap list is huge and I love to get a flight here to sample a little of everything - they offer both brews made in house and lots of local and not so local options to choose from. This day, I got the Willibrew Triptych Fruit Punch Sour, which went down easy and was fun to drink, the perfect amount of fruitiness while still having that sour tart punch. I tried my friend's Willibrew Choccy Stoot Chocolate Stout, which was a little more acidic than I would have preferred and a bit too light on the chocolate flavor for me, but still pretty in line with similar types of stouts. For food, I got the build your own burger with the vegetarian chicken patty, lettuce/tomato, pickles, cheddar, and their wonderful pesto aioli. I love that they've added so many more vegetarian options to the menu in the past few years - before that I did struggle a little bit and the Black Bean Dip appetizer was my go-to, but was not filling enough for a meal. The bun was fluffy and buttery and added to the sandwich instead of just being dry slop (which is what I think of most buns lol). This aioli is awesome and I want to dip absolutely everything in it, although the pesto notes were a little light on this day. For a side, I could choose from fries, mashed potatoes, or cole slaw, and went cole slaw to try to be healthy. I'm picky with cole slaw and actually really like this one - it's more savory instead of how a lot of cole slaws weirdly lean to the sweet side. It was crunchy and not too creamy or watery, just right honestly! I always love coming here and always try a new beer that I typically end up enjoying, since they offer such a wide variety and a good amount of sours (my favorite), stouts, seasonal items, unusual fruity items, and so on. I really should stop gassing it up so much because it does already get quite busy on some days, but I can't help myself - it's unique and unlike anything in the area. The lore, the history in the old post office building itself, the pinball machines and chalkboard in the bathroom filled with weird quotes, the funky artwork - they just all add to its character and the legend. Shout out to Barry if he still works at the bar and his awesome playlists - he gave the BEST service to my friends and I when we used to go hang out at the bar side regularly, he's the best and always made me feel at home.
