Po Boy and coconut sticky rice bowl with salmon and scallops
Anna L.

10/10 will be going again and again and again! Worth the drive, worth the wait. Everything here is so fresh, light and packed with flavor. You walk in and BAM! fresh catch on ice, displayed to help you choose your meal! Crab cakes = YUM. Rice bowl = YUM. Crab Legs = YUM My friend had the poboy and she said it was GREAT. Salmon was also delicious. Excited for more CUDACO TRIPS (Because it is a trek for me) to try the rest of the menu. There are specials too so be sure to check the giant specials on the wall by the register. The CudaCo team are all so kind and chill! Only a few spots inside, but there are a ton of seats and tables outside. Order EVERYTHING you want or think you want at the same time, or be prepared to wait in line again if you're trying to get something for later. Depending on the day and time, the line can get pretty long LOVE YOU CUDACO! See you soon!

This is one of my new favorite spots in Charleston. Before even trying the food, I was already expressing to my friend: I will be back here. The fish was so fresh and I honestly think the price for what you get is amazing. This place is QUALITY and honestly their wine selection is super curated which surprised me. I am going to become a regular here

I've passed CudaCo many times over the past 4 years. It's always caught my eye, but being from Mount Pleasant, I've always been on a mission, go to Hyams and then get an amazing sandwich from Yous Guys. But luckily I was craving seafood when I left Hyams, so I decided to to give CudaCo a shot. As soon as you walk in the door, you can tell it's not your typical seafood market. There's a room of wines for sale, beer, and a few dining tables. Then there's the fresh catch display case... And I must say, their selection is consistently great. The quality and freshness is top notch. And they usually have some hard to find fresh catch. What makes CudaCo stand out from other markets is that you can pick your desired catch from the display case and then have them cook it to your liking. Everything that I've had was literally foot stomping good. And to add to that, they also offer frozen seafood, premade dips, and many other items in the freezer section. I'm a huge fan of CudaCo and I'm mad at myself for taking so long to give them a shot.

This has been at the top of my list and it did not disappoint!! When you walk inside, the fresh variety of seafood is on display. The staff makes fantastic recommendations. You order your selection at the counter - everything from po boys to platters to sticky coconut rice bowls. A buzzer is provided and you can enjoy a table inside or at a picnic table outside along the water. I tried a sticky coconut rice bowl with tuna and a fried shrimp po boy. Both were tremendous in flavor. Also ordered a 1/2 dozen oysters which was paired with pickled red onion - what an elevated flavor!

Was recommended to try this place by one of our tour guides, and boy he did not steer us wrong! Everything we tried was to die for. Super fresh, great quality and flavor, and a fantastic price point for fresh seafood! We got the smoked fish spread (white fish), the fried oyster po boy, the peel and at eat shrimp cocktail, and the "Sandy" (fried flounder sandwich). They also have a canned lemonade there called Joes Lemonade, GET ITTTT. Not tons of seating available, so keep that in mind if you're hoping for dine in at busy times. But other than that, this place was incredible. We will absolutely be coming back any time we find ourselves in town.

The coconut stick rice bowl is delicious, you can pick from a bunch of different proteins. The smoked fish spread was the perfect side

There is truly not a bad thing on the menu! The staff at CudaCo are always so friendly and knowledgeable about their items, so you will be sure to leave happy. I always believed this was a sit-down restaurant until I went to try it with some visiting friends. I was pleasantly surprised that you order at the register and can then take a seat wherever you like, indoors or outside, and they will bring your food to you. I also appreciated the free parking lot. Even though there is limited indoor seating, there are plenty of picnic tables outside to sit at on a warm Charleston day. You can also easily ask for your food to go. Even better, you can enjoy a meal and still bring home more seafood to cook at a later date while supporting a local small business. I mean, what is better than that? They have a great local beer and wine selection that you can purchase and take home. More importantly, their food is out-of-this-world fresh. This tiny spot that is easy to miss on James Island has some of the best seafood out there. My go-to is their coconut rice poke bowl with salmon. I would come here every day if I could!

Absolutely loved CudaCo! Their fish is super fresh and really enjoyed the coconut rice Poké bowl. I got half tuna and half salmon and the portion size was well worth the price. Very flavorful! There is free and plenty of parking outside the shop! Staff are super nice and there are a few tables inside. There's also some picnic benches outside that you can use when the weather is nice!

I love walking in there and seeing the display of the fresh seafood. Had the tuna and salmon poke bowl and the fish ceviche both were delicious!

Can't recommend the Coconut Sticky Rice Bowl enough if you are craving a poke bowl. The fish is on display so you know it is fresh. You also get a decent sized portion for the price. The mussels with the white wine broth were also a big hit. Love that this place is also a seafood market so you can also pick out oysters and fresh cuts of fish to take home with you.

GREAT great seafood. You walk in and it just looks like a seafood market, but they have an amazing menu! Highly recommend the poke bowl! They also have a great wine selection. Service was excellent and as you can see by the photo, the seating area has some pretty spectacular views of the marsh. Very cool place to eat!

After driving by CudoCo. everyday, my friend and I finally stopped in. It is packed every time I drive past so it was a nice surprise to see a couple of spots were open for us. Seating is limited, but don't let that deter you. There are additional picnic tables out back if inside and the four two-too patio tables out front are full. We ordered the snapper fried fillet (that is the best fried fish I have had since visiting the UK. Hands down. Nothing in SC tops this.), the smoke white fish dip (absolutely incredible flavors!), raw oysters and their broiled oysters that were equally delicious. All of this was paired with a craft beer. The staff was very pleasant, and the interior is simple but nice and clean. I love that you can see what they'll be putting together for you. There is a small gift shop to by chips, dip, other food items and of course, merch! 10/10 recommend and can't wait to go back!

Beyond words. I will be dreaming about this meal for awhile. I can't wait to return. Delicious food and amazing ambiance.

45 minutes sitting here for a take out order for 5. Not worth it! No apology or acknowledgment from the proprietor.

If you're looking for a Charleston spot that's worth the hype, make Leon's Oyster Shop your next…read morestop. I finally made it to Leon's, and it absolutely lived up to the experience. Famous for its oysters and fried chicken, this Charleston favorite has a vibrant green entrance you can't miss, with cozy indoor seating plus patios in both the front and back that give off relaxed, coastal vibes. We started with the smoked mahi dip, and I honestly couldn't stop eating it--it was my favorite dish of the day. We also ordered two rounds of the chargrilled oysters, and they disappeared almost instantly. For our entrées, we shared the famous fried chicken, and whenever I see a whole fish on the menu, I'm ordering it. The branzino was cooked perfectly--flavorful, tender, and definitely worth it. To cool off, we grabbed one of their frozen drinks, which was the perfect refreshing treat on a hot Charleston day. One tip: get there early because this place fills up fast. If Leon's isn't on your Charleston food list yet, it should be. I already can't wait to go back!

The design is thoughtfully executed, the space feels comfortable even when it's busy, and the service is friendly, attentive, and impressively fast. I also appreciated a small but important detail: despite how popular the restaurant is, there are plenty of restrooms and no long lines. Little things like that genuinely improve the guest experience. Unfortunately, that's where most of my praise ends. I intentionally ordered many of the restaurant's signature dishes because I wanted to judge the restaurant as a whole rather than base my opinion on one successful plate. The food simply doesn't live up to the expectations created by the photos. Everything looks noticeably less refined and less appetizing once it reaches the table. The fried chicken was just ordinary chicken in a heavy, greasy breading. The oysters were fresh and enjoyable with no complaints there. The famous salad turned out to be mostly a large bowl of cabbage, while the avocado and mandarin seemed more decorative than meaningful. Most of the flavor came from mint and an overly acidic vinaigrette that dominated the dish. The fish sandwich was the biggest disappointment. The issue wasn't the fish itself but the composition of the sandwich. The dry, stale bun completely overpowered everything else, while the basic vegetables did nothing to complement or elevate the fish. Instead of highlighting the main ingredient, the sandwich buried it, which defeats the entire purpose of a great fish sandwich. The Korean smashed cucumber salad tasted primarily of vinegar and sesame oil with very little depth, while the hush puppies were dry and lacked the rich corn flavor that usually makes them memorable. Even the drinks reinforced the same impression. The beer was good, but charging $8 for what felt like half of a standard pour once again made the value feel questionable. This brings me to the biggest issue with Leon's. It feels like the restaurant invests far more in its atmosphere, interior design, and photogenic image than in its food. It's a place that looks incredible in pictures and is easy to recommend for the setting, but much harder to recommend for the cuisine itself. High prices are not a problem when they are backed by exceptional cooking. Here, however, it felt as though I was paying for the restaurant's reputation, constant stream of tourists, and social media appeal rather than for truly outstanding food. I would happily come back for a beer, enjoy the patio, and spend an evening with friends. But I wouldn't return specifically for the food. For a restaurant with such a strong reputation, that's the greatest disappointment of all.

I heard so much about this place, how great everything was and the location and view being spectacular. Well, the view is OK, it was cool to see dolphins swimming in the bay. Other than that, I can think of many other places on the Charleston shorelines and bays that are much much more beautiful. The food: really, I could've gotten this kind of food pretty much anywhere else and paid $10 a plate less. I got the simple fish and chips, with a side of Caesar marinated broccoli. The broccoli was overcooked and cool to the touch. My fries were also not hot at all. The fish were good and hot. This kind of fare can be found in so many pubs and restaurants around Charleston, at a way better price. I ordered hot tea because it was freezing cold in the restaurant. I got a cup of hot water and the tea bag on the side, had to ask for cream and sugar and got zero offers for refills. My dining companions were all disappointed in small ways about their meals, ranging from steak, to their famous California dreaming salad to grab soup. Nobody was really that impressed. I was served cold broccoli first, while everyone else ate their food. My fish n chips finally arrived late. The atmosphere: I bet this place is really pretty in the evening, with some soft lighting, maybe a different ambiance... Since we still had bright light, it gave me a good chance to see how everything is greasy and worn. Windows need a good cleaning, bathroom needs a good overhaul. We were some of the first customers that afternoon, and it took forever for anyone to notice us. This place is wheelchair accessible, but be prepared for a long, inclined, gradual ramp, and a door that is not automatic. Prices were too high. Service was lukewarm, just like the crab soup. Our server was not attentive. I would not go out of my way to return here.
