Such a fun night! I'd been by here a million times, and I'm so glad we finally went inside! We all had sangaritas that were such a treat, and then we shared some tapas (gambas aguacate, tri-tip stead crostinis, and patatas bravas). Every bite was pretty spot on! And the service was so relaxed and friendly! Plus a great jazz band was playing - seriously great environment AND food!

Cucuru is a def must go to!! The art, food, and staff make it a fun place to experience. This is why It scores a 5 star: To start cucuru feel like a cafe in Cuba. The walls are vibrant and full of art. There are separate dining areas and each table has a unique artistic touch. The art on the wall makes it perfect for selfies or photo ops. The staff is also so sweet and charming. Our waitress was super friendly. We also stopped by on a weekday. It was not busy which made the service pretty quick and personal. The food is of high quality. They do a great job with the presentation and it looks super colorful/classy! I had the Cuban which I highly recommend!!! Everything about it tickled my taste buds. In lack of better words, it was the bomb.com! Perfectly grilled bread with the right amount of sauce, pork, and cheese. It is so good you'll regret eating it so fast. The Cuban comes with two sides and is priced at $11.99! Which to me is very reasonably priced. I also had there decadent plantains which were pretty sweet! Who knew plantains could be so decadent but Cucuru nailed it! Overall, Cucuru is authentic, family-owned and a great place to experience food and art! I definitely recommend it and suggest you savor every bite!

Very vibey. The owner came out and talked to us for 30 minutes and we had a great time talking to him! Great food and live music a lot of the nights. $5 Margs during happy hour, can't beat that! Come check it out!!

My fiancé and I drove up from Texas for a long weekend visit with his sister. We rented a small house around the corner from Cucuru. After a long, long drive and eating "road trip food" we were ready for something good. We pulled up Yelp and took a look at what Colorado Springs had to offer. The patio drew me in with its landscaping and atmosphere. The server was friendly and very helpful. We kept our food order simple. He got the Cuban sandwich and I got the Tapas Sampler. Both were fabulous, but the Cuban sandwich had to really be the best we have ever had. Now I love margaritas. Not just any margarita. I am very picky and want only true margaritas. None of this margarita mix nonsense and I have even been to great Mexican restaurants that can't make a decent margarita. I ordered the original margarita and my fiancé had the jalapeño margarita. Both were incredibly tasty. The jalapeño margarita was very different from any we ever had. The spice was there. The flavor of the jalapeño was there. The great thing? The heat didn't overpower or linger too much. I used to always try mojitos when I went places. After I first discovered how yummy they were I ordered them every where we went. It didn't take long before I realized... those drinks are hard to master! I have never had a good mojito after the first I tried. We discovered a wonderful hidden gem of a place on the cruise ship we were on once but other than that... I have not been fortunate enough to have met up with someone who could dazzle me with their mojito magic. My fiancé suggested I try theirs, since mojitos are Cuban. I asked how the mojitos were and informed of my snobbery towards them. She winked and whisked away to show me her magic. When it came out it looked promising. I stirred it around, sipped.... oh the glory!!! It was spot on! I ordered two! We will be going back for another visit before we head home. We both decided this hidden gem, nestled away in the Historic district would be our local haunt if/when we move to the area.

I love a place that doesn't try to be something it's not. This is a place that evolves with every customer that walks in the door and with owners who genuinely enjoy what they do and want to you enjoy your time with them. We came for lunch at 1:00pm on a Thursday. It wasn't overcrowded which allowed us to choose from several rooms of the house, each with 2 to 3 tables. We had a wonderful view of Bancroft Park, the centerpiece of Old Colorado City, right across the street. The menu was simple with a choice of small plates, sandwiches and salads. We ordered the Gambas Aquate, a Pesto Panini and the Cuban sandwich. The Gambas Aquate is a deliciously fresh plate of avocado, Madrid salad and 4 big shrimp. High quality simple ingredients with great presentation, yielding great taste. The sandwiches were both excellent. The first thing I noticed was that they don't use grocery store deli cuts. Nope, this was the genuine article. Guillermo, the owner, talked me into dessert. Baked flan with a tequila sauce which took me longer to photograph than to devour. Left very satisfied. Can't wait to come back and relax on the patio. Overall, a great experience and just the kind of place I expect to visit in Old Colorado City. It is an individual, one of a kind, a character you remember.

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about, because we loved this place! Cucuru was the first place we went after checking into our hotel in Manitou because we found a pretty nice Groupon. It's an old house with some cool things done to the exterior, and the inside is cozy and has different styles of art on the walls (most for sale) We were greeted by the owner in a very friendly and genuine way who told us about the place and gave us some recommendations. He was our server as well and we had a good time with him all evening. They have quite a few good beers, many local brews, and their menu is simple but perfect. We started with some classic chips and salsa, the salsa was fresh and had a nice kick. I ordered the Pesto Panini, my friend ordered The Cuban and we traded each other half of each. The Pesto Panini was nice and fresh, and The Cuban had great, slow-cooked pork with a nice overall flavor. We had some beers and a good bottle of red wine that was priced right, and tried the Ghirardelli chocolate-covered strawberries to finish it off. A cool place with great food and drink giving us an authentic experience to start the Manitou/Colorado Springs leg of our trip with.

Tapas Sampler - good to the last bite!

The owner told me to get a tan. Enough said. Why would I ever patronize a place like this. I can joke around but that isn't acceptable.

With Christmas shopping completed two weeks before the holiday and no intent to purchase anything…read moreelse, we walked into Velez Galleries "just to look". Browsing the vast collection of turquoise and other stones and pieces of jewelry we asked about White Buffalo. Michael showed us a raw mined chuck of White Buffalo of which he explained how he could craft into a pendant to fit on my wife's Navajo necklace. Velez Galleries went above and beyond to create a truly special pendant. Michael's exceptional service and professionalism made the entire experience unforgettable, entertaining and educational. We were particularly impressed with how Michael took the time to explain where White Buffalo was mined and how he could transform a raw stone into a beautifully crafted pendant. This one-of-a-kind piece is something my wife will treasure forever. Needless to say, Christmas shopping was extended for one more day and we walked out of Velez Galleries with a new pendant and earrings. Give them a call or stop by, not only do they create the most amazing jewelry on site but they do repair work as well as buy selected items from the public.

I went in to see if I could find out if my silver pin (from the 1980s) was indeed Hopi. It was. My bracelet with Hopi design was not. (They told me it was likely Navajo). I learned that the stamp on the back of each authentic Hopi piece was the artist's "signature". Besides jewelry, I really liked the Inuit soapstone carvings, the southwest pots; San Ildefonso, Acoma etc. In addition, the store is on very fun street for shopping; 2505 Colorado Ave, Old Colorado City, Colorado Springs, CO

This place is always such a delight to window shop at! I love seeing all the local artists…read morerepresented and always find unique pottery and paintings that would look lovely in anyone's home. I do tend to think the prices are a bit steep here, but not out of the norm for an art gallery. I look forward to my next visit!

BEWARE of the dog that is in this shop!!!! I went into this store with my husband and 3 year old…read more When walking around we walked past the dog and the dog snapped at my daughter trying to bite her hand. The owner of the dog (and possibly the the store) asked what happened, and I told her. She didn't believe me so she asked my husband if that's what happened. She then told us to get out and shut the door. No apologies, remorse, concern, anything. We left and two ladies followed us out saying they saw what happened and that they were so sorry. I then handed my crying daughter over to my husband and went back in and told the lady she was rude, to not believe me, my daughter deserves an apology and the dog shouldn't be in the store. The lady told me that people walking by tell her the dog snap and shows teeth to them when trying to come in and she never sees it, nor believed it. I was like EXCUSE ME?! People have complained about this before and you KEEP bringing your dog to work?! That's completely unfair to the dog and to innocent people. This is a warning because the dog is going to end up biting someone!

My first impression was, "The collection of art is really unique, stuff I've never seen before."…read more My first impression has its story. So after hearing from the owner of the gallery, their art collection is a compilation of work from local artists in the area. How cool is that? Everything is its own, and they have everything from paintings, sculptures, handcrafted jewelry (my favorite), photographs, and many others. It's definitely unique and original which makes it pricey if you're looking to purchase a piece of artwork. But if you're looking for something new to spruce up your wall, it's a good place to check out. They have quite a lot of different styles of artwork to choose from, and I stumbled upon a portfolio of Gene Trindl's work in Hollywood during his lifetime. I'm not sure if it was on sale, but I really enjoying looking through all the photographs of Hollywood stars photographed by Trindl. It's just a little interesting encounter on my part because I study media and Trindl is an American idol in magazine photography! (Check out mptvimages.com for some amazing works of photography). The lasting impression? "A great place to browse around for some inspiration of art or to find a unique item for your home!"
