The good- cool old school roadhouse vibe. Nice waitstaff. Fun place to drink. The food, however, can only be described as rough. Really rough. I had the green chile burger, which was okay. My husband had the buffalo burger and I had a hard time getting my sample bite down. My son had the tender ms and chips. The tenders were passable but the chips were the slightly stale broken ones from the end of the bag. In summary, I'd definitely drink there but would give the food a hard pass. read more

Stopped in here for a beer and small snack (sides) after riding all day. When we walked in the staff was immediately welcoming and put some tables together to accommodate our larger group of 6. The walls are covered with old photos of bikes and music legends-- I imagine everything on the walls dates to the original opening days... jukebox included. We both had the cheesesteak sandwich. I ordered Onion rings and sweet potato fries. They waitress said the portions are large may only want one. I said we wanted to try each. Was I glad we did. We always stop at the Thunderbird Inn in Florissant, CO when we go to Breckenridge from the Springs. The food is good. We really like the wings, fries, burgers, and cheesesteaks a lot. But here is my problem: we were there this weekend, right in the middle of COVID rules, and NOBODY had on masks, and there was NO attempt made to socially distance tables. While we were there, several large groups came in, and nothing was done to limit contact. I would be happier if the staff would wear masks or at least PRETEND to care that we are in the midst of a pandemic. I know it is a rough-and-tumble biker bar kind of place, but everybody has equal responsibility for keeping us all safe. I would be scared to go back there unless they changed their protocols. read more

My husband and I enjoy this place. It can get a little loud on weekend evenings but during the week it's pet quiet. They don't have a huge menu, but the food is made to order and quite good. My grandparents have a cabin right near Thunderbird Inn that my family visited every summer when I was young. The giant Thunderbird Inn sign illuminating the intersection of Teller County Rd. and the 24 always fascinated me. In my mind's eye I always pictured a roadhouse atmosphere with a jukebox and pool tables. Well, that's pretty much what it is. Just a good ol' jukejoint. This was the second time I'd been here, but first time in the day. The bartender was not very welcoming at first, but what does one expect in a place like this? Anyhow, she soon opened up her small town charm. The decor is cool. Lot's of Willie, lot's of old beer bottles and cans, and the odd anti-goverment, right wing conspiracy memorabilia. The jukebox has some classic country & rock as well as CDs of musicians that play T-Bird Inn. I think that is very cool of them to try to give their performers more exposure. read more

This is a bar, first and foremost and during the busy times they have two bartenders that also wait tables. If you want something it's easiest to saddle up to the bar. It has a great atmosphere and with it's name you know it's biker friendly. A lot of vets stop through on their hgwy 24 ride. Their music venue is outside during the summer so you can sit outside and enjoy it or stay inside and just enjoy the music filtering in from outside. There's a horseshoe pit set up as well as a pool table. Mostly it has a lot of history. If you look at the floor you'll see some motorcycle scorch marks where, in their wilder past, they brought a bike in and burned down some tires. The pictures on the walls tell the story. Reasonable beer prices, all bottles or cans (no taps) and great finger food. One of the best burgers in the pass. Sometines this place truly IS a biker bar, but usually it's just a small local place good for a beer and a few laughs. From time to time they host great musicians...smaller bands with great talent and they open up their "sand box" in the back. You can sit out there, dig your toes into the sand, listen to tunes, drink beer and other libations and munch on a burger or other finger foods while enjoying the crisp mountain air.
