We were on our way to somewhere else when we found this gem. This is a kitschy little bar who is named after the legendary Colorado grizzly bear, Old Mose, who killed 800 head of livestock and 5 men. Decor is mixed, old dead rock stars painted on one wall and a bear and deer head with Cañon City scenes on the other. Fast and friendly service, and they let our dogs in the bar (big pitties outside). Not a huge menu. Shared a large charcuterie board. Very adequate. Recommend. read more

Looking for an afternoon cocktail and snack after the River Gorge train ride and found Mose downtown. Great local flavor and decor. Sophisticated drink menu served up by Katherine. Excellent shrimp and sausage skewers with a side of made-in-house pasta salad prepared by Lyzard the enthusiastic, "non-chef" (her words). Dive bar central on Main Street. Who wouldn't stop and have drinks and food at a place named after a bear, Mose. Mose was known for killing over 800 cattle and 5 men over 100 years ago in the area. I loved this place! Basically it is a bar with lots of craft cocktails and a small, but diverse and fresh menu. The bar is huge and has lots of stools, plus there are booths lined up opposite of the bar. There are a couple pool tables in back. We had a couple flatbreads and drinks one Saturday. Drinks were well crafted and tasted delicious. We started with a pretzel braid and cheese. It tasted like a cross between a garlic knot and a pretzel - very good. The Philly Cheesesteak flatbread was honestly, huge and I couldn't finish it in one seating. Everything was a tad pricey, but generous in portions. Really loved it. We will be back! Perfect for a drink or a bite. read more

Popped in for some drinks and a light dinner. Ordered a wedge salad, that was amazing, you cannot go wrong with blue cheese! We also ordered the teriyaki meatballs, and their shrimp and sausage skewers. The seasoning was great on everything, the only bad thing was the shrimp was cold, but over cooked. We found this gem while visiting the Royal Gorge! Scott the bartender is amazing! We had such a good time hanging out all night!! Scott made us so many fun and delicious martinis! The hummus was outstanding! We ordered 3 meatball appetizers! They make their own food and it definitively shows! Lots of locals come in and are so fun to talk to. While killing time in Cañon City, we perused Yelp to find the number one rated bar in town...and that's how we ended up at the Mose Public House! We were not disappointed! My husband and I tried Mose out when we got out of work early on a Friday. It was the best decision ever to kick off the weekend. Noah immediately made us feel at home. We ordered a couple of mixed drinks. I didn't expect anything special from a classic margarita but they took it up a notch. My husband was also very pleased with his Manhattan. Then Lyzz presented us with our orders. The nachos supreme was a work of art. I'm not one who takes pics of food and posts it but am kicking myself I didn't take a pic of this dish. It tasted as good as it looked, too! My husband ordered the Philly cheese steak which he said was out of this world. Between Noah and Lyzz talking to us like we were old friends and the wonderful food and drink, we have definitely found our new favorite place and can't wait to go back. Food was great but the service was awful. We had a server by the name of Jennifer. She didn't ask us how our meal was at all, no introduction, didn't come to us for our drinks until we had been there for a while, was short and almost rude and brought our entré AFTER our meal. What rubbed us wrong? She was spending her time entertaining regulars and having conversations instead of checking up on individuals. read more
