Went here because of the reviews and decided to get a lemon loaf cake. The piece was huge! I couldn't even eat it all so I had to take the rest to go. The price was really good as well 2,20 for such a big piece. There is lots of seating in and outside and there is an area on the second floor for seating. Wifi is here and the password is near the cash register. Baristas are very friendly and really helpful with giving me directions to another place. read more

My favorite café in the Kiez, the upstairs is great for bringing some work, the downstairs is great for bringing some friends. :)

This is a good place to work as it has free wifi, however, the interiors are a little dark and I have always found it crowded. Close to the U Bahn station and has good lattes and bakery items. Too many people make it a bit noisy so not a good place for studying. Free wifi attracts lots of people (students?). The bakery items are good and reasonably priced. read more

Update to 5 stars. I still haven't eaten the cake, so this is not the reason for my change of starry-eyed-heart. It's officially come my favorite "work from home" location in Berlin. With the second floor balcony desk seating perfect for 4-5 people to click away on their laptops...above the loud sounds of the espresso machine and just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of customers and barristas. But, still part of the action. The wifi is strong, the people are friendly, the balcony is the spot, there is outlets, and a cappuccino and housemade musli with blackberries powers me through even the longest of email sessions. Highly recommended! I don't really understand why the devote a HUGE portion of their seating to a smoking lounge (I've never seen anyone in there) but the non-smoking area suits me just fine. PROS * wifi * lots of outlets * warm, if a bit grungy, atmosphere * okay-average prices CONS As a non-smoker, the stench of smoke was absolutely overwhelming. Even with a wall and plastic curtain supposedly blocking it, I couldn't stay in the café for very long. The smoking area seemed super comfy though. Wouldn't come back again, but it's possible that the stench of smoke was just particularly terrible that day. (Plus, I was sitting on the balcony right next to the smoking room.) I had a coffee and a walnut cake there. Decent coffee, rich decadent cake, and the price was reasonable. The place is pretty small and cozy, but they have free wifi and they allow people with laptops to sit there for hours. The staff is friendly and the service prompt. I would come back again, may be with a laptop if I get here early. read more

We had 2 pieces of pudding, a chai latte and a yogurt with cereal. The chai and the yogurt were the same you can get anywhere else. Both pudding pieces were huge. One (the lemon one) was really dry and the other one (zucchini and chocolate) had almost no taste. They have Internet free to use, but we haven't use it. They do have a bathroom. A lot of cafes don't. We found nothing special about this place. read more

Probably one of the best work cafés I have come across in Berlin so far. And I am talking about the schoolseating at the top of the landing. Its just awesome. Next time I must remember to order a chailatte without cowmilk! And I want the bagel with sundried tomatoes again. I wonder if they have juices now when summer is around the door? read more

(sorry, dass ich auf englisch schreibe, anstatt deutsch - ich kann eine genauere überprüfung schreiben diese weise!) Cuccuma's a little coffeeshop/café just off Bergmannstrasse, a teensy walk from the Gneisenaustrasse U-Bahn stop. the place has a bit of a weird lay-out and vibe at first --just a few seats crammed together outside on the busy street, awkward tall benches at a window bar that sometimes block the way up the clunky stairs to the balcony and the lounge in the back-- but this ends up being part of the charm. the cozy mix of chairs, the eclectic music (brazilian bossa nova, Gotan Project, classic funk and hip-hop..) and especially the employees make the place feel like you've walked into the house of a bunch of friends. ...and this is probably not that far from the truth: the staff seem to know everyone who walks in the door, which makes Cuccuma a favorite meeting place. i come here probably only once every 2 weeks but the staff still recognize and greet me and ask about my life. actually, now that i think of it, the motto on Cuccuma's website might be something like "feel like home" - i'd say they have captured this idea nearly perfectly. okay, the food: they have a standard run of lunch sandwiches, bircher muesli, soups, etc...but i'd recommend just ignoring those and going straight for the sweets! this is where Cuccuma really shines. although the breads+cakes can sometimes be a bit dry, the flavors are always fantastic and usually with little imaginative twists: carrot or banana cake, fig or apple tortes, brownies and cookies galore. pair that with one of their lattes or cappuccinos (which are consistently good) and you've got a perfect afternoon 'pause'. make sure to get a 'stamp' card (a free drink after buying 9 coffees or teas) because you'll find yourself coming back. i should add: i *think* you're allowed to smoke in the lounge upstairs which means sometimes smoke can waft over you if you're sitting on the balcony. also Cuccuma has free wifi and usually plenty of outlets and places to sit, so it's a nice place to stop if you need to work for a bit, also if you're on your way to the Markthalle or the new location of Videodrom up the hill). read more

Venue is nice & cosy but the coffee is below average. It's located conveniently in the vicinity of Bergmannkiez so it's a handy place to drop by. But I've been there enough to give other cafés in the area a go now. The coffee is always la-la-la every time I've tried. read more

One of my favorite cafes in Berlin. The coffee, sandwiches, and desserts are all fantastic, super friendly staff with a talent for latte art, and lots of great seating inside and outside. I'm never disappointed with my spot wherever I sit there. One complaint: the music can be very loud and sometimes really annoying. I love it when cafes and coffeeshops play the music they like -- I'm all for it! It makes the place personal and memorable. But... please just keep the volume low enough that I can't hear it blaring even when I have my headphones on and turned way up :-( Dampens the coziness factor a bit. In any case, music issue aside, the decor and atmosphere are great and they've even got free W-LAN. Even after I moved out of the neighborhood I keep going back to Zossenerstr to visit this place. (FYI smoking allowed in the back room upstairs -- great if you want to smoke, avoid it if you don't want to smell like smoke.) I would definitely go with a "4.5" stars if I could. ;-) read more

Baristas are too cool for you, in a Uniqlo-but-like-softer-aesthetic way; in any case, some of the friendliest, kindest service I've ever gotten. (One of them complimented my t-shirt the other day; pretty sure I've peaked in this life.) Solid coffee, and I love their bagels. Decently priced, too -- a sandwich and large coffee together are about 5 EUR. read more

Excellent place to work or read. Extra cozy, especially upstairs in the back, where you can nestle into a leather couch or chair. Coffee was top notch, as was the little vanilla popover that I shared with my boyfriend. Definitely look forward to trying some of the cake next time we're there. read more
