The best 'vegan' donuts I've had! Ambiance is soft and comfy. The pistachio and caramel one was a hit!

Brammimbal's is an all-vegan donut hole of heaven! The cappuccino was delicious! It was smooth, silky, and hot. That Bienestich donut was out of this world! I had no idea what Bienenstich was, but it caught my eye. I asked the woman working for suggestions, and that was the first donut she mentioned. After that, there was no more hesitation, just enjoyment. From Brammibal's website: "You don't know Bienenstich yet? Well, ask any German around you and we promise they will start raving about it. This donut is filled with our homemade vanilla custard made with organic vanilla, then dunked in a vanilla glaze, and topped with roasted slivered almonds." The next time I visited Brammibal's Donuts I ordered the Candied Almond Donut that's made with a caramel almond cream, dipped in an almond glaze, and decorated with chopped roasted almonds. - insert drooling face. Yes, this donut was indeed just as good as it sounds! The donut was cooked to perfection and had an ooey gooey filled center! I would have enjoyed a few more almonds on top, but that is the only minor thing I would have changed. This place is highly rated for vegan donuts so we wanted to check it out. There was a line out the door, so it's also popular. We were fortunate to find a place to sit inside at a table on this crowded Sunday. We ordered four donuts. I expected the hibiscus one to be better. It was frosting and sprinkles. The donuts were very, very oily. We tried to bring one to go, but it leaked through the bag. It wasn't going to work so we had it in the shop. The donuts were just all right and very sweet. The location is very hip and I appreciated that they sprinkled the interior with local flavor. They also sell merchandise for the shop. Pros: -Indoor and outdoor seating -Lots of flavor options -Vegan! -Savory options as well -- 2.50 euro per donut Boston Cream Yeast donut with chocolate icing and a coconut cream inside. The dough was thick and fluffy--not super light but not overly chewy. Not bad! I'm not sure if the flavor of the cream inside was supposed to be vanilla a la a traditional Boston Cream, but if so, it was overpowered by coconut milk. It was also a bit runny instead of a thicker custard. It tasted very similar to another vegan Boston Cream I've had in Cambridge, MA, US (Veggie Galaxy)--though I think VG has a slight leg up because they use a darker chocolate icing. Chocolate Tahini "Chocolate" yeast donut with glaze on top and a tahini/sesame(?) chip on top of that. Same dough as above. This flavor didn't taste like chocolate but did seem like the glaze had a tahini flavor. Brownie Gluten-free black bean(?) brownie with chocolate chips. If there are no black beans in this, I'd be shocked, as it had a very strong beany flavor. The texture was not bad, but the flavor isn't what I'd crave if I wanted a brownie. read more

Brammibal's Donuts, either the main destination or a spontaneous pit stop of a trip to Reuterkiez, is a quick way to sum up the year I lived in Berlin. It was a tidbit about Berlin that I had mentally filed away during my first stint in the city, something that came to life on a cold early February morning with the fog clinging onto the Landwehrcanal. I emerged from the cozy, vegan bakery victorious (and a whole lot warmer) with a box of four vegan donuts and a vegan grilled cheese (with real ketchup, not curry ketchup). While I was tying my shoe on my walk back to Hermannplatz, an elderly German woman came up to inquire about my donuts. Had I made them myself? I directed her to Brammibal's Donuts. Imagine that--a long-time Kreuzberger trying out hipster vegan donuts. That's Berlin! It was where I refueled during my First of May festivities, treating myself to a vegan grilled cheese and subsequently earning the right to use their *remarkably clean-for-a-public-holiday-about-drinking* public bathroom. It was where I treated myself to a donut (or two) or a grilled cheese if I was feeling homesick for the artisanal American versions. It was where I ended my idyllic autumn morning strolls by the canal. Back in the U.S., it's where I'm trying to convince my company to order from for the morale-boosting company-wide birthday celebrations of tasty treats once my birthday month rolls around. Vegan doughtnuts are obviously awesome, and Brammibal's are so wonderful because they aren't as sweet, meaning you don't want to die after eating them. But to be honest, their cinnamon rolls are where it's at. You can also get coffee, tea, smoothies, bagel sandwiches, etc. etc., and everything's vegan. The location is tops, the people are kind, and the neon doughnut sign inside is sweet too. Get some! read more

Nice atmosphere but not great food. Donuts are verry dry and very sweet. They look amazing but so I think 'oh I'll give them another try' but I think I've finally learnt my lesson now I tried a savoury bagel but it was cold (had been frozen), a bit wet, wasn't toasted (!?) or any salt/pepper added so it really just felt like chewy water. I'm not vegan but I know vegan food can be delish! Just some basics would improve this place no-end from something instagrammable to something also edible. read more

This. Place. Friggin'. Rules. Mate. Nice atmospheare but I mean the doughnuts, THE DOUGHNUTS are heavenly. There's a mix between classic and more interresting special flavors such as one flavoured with bergamot lavender, the one I ate. It was absolutely delicious - so fluffy! Found this gem on a rainy day and ordered a chocolate filled donut. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was not only vegan but also not overpoweringly sweet like every other donut store out there. The dough was slightly dry but the chocolate was rich and creamy. When I went the store was packed so there wasn't any available seating but the staff was really nice and started moving the tables from outside to the indoors to accommodate more people. Really wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed the atmosphere instead of taking my donut to go. read more

I get it- gorgeous vegan donuts are new to Berlin, and Berliners are partial to pretty garnishes and concept cafes. Went on Sunday around noon and the donuts tasted like their requisite yeast, but also of stale oil. They were also dense when most donuts, even the vegan ones I've had, are light with obvious hole structure. The lemon coconut tasted fresh and the coffee almond's frosting was delicious. Because I'm crazy about donuts and I live in Berlin, it was only a question of time until I tried out Brammibal's. I have to say I almost didn't try it because I went on a Friday, which is market day (it's on Maybachufer where a biweekly open market takes place) and it was crazy busy. As other Yelpers have noted, there are a limited number of tables inside, outside it was too cold and I didn't want to listen to the vendors loudly hawking their wares, but as fate would have it, the bar stools at the front window opened up just as my companions arrived, so we stayed. I found the donuts just OK, interesting flavors and frosting concepts, but the execution was lacking/lackluster. €2.50 each is a little high for me/Berlin, I'd rather spend that much or less on German pastries. What will bring me back, though, on a quieter day, is the coffee (I had 3 cappucinos) - nuanced flavor, well-made, and just delicious. It reminded me of San Francisco, "the scene" was slightly amazing with all the hipsters on their smartphones (taking pictures of the donuts), people on their laptops, moms with baby carriages, Kreuzkölln eben, providing some juicy people-watching. It's a miracle that they can handle so many customers in such a tiny shop, it's like they need a revolving door!
