We're from Kentucky and came to this amazing town because I'm walking for my graduation in the next town over. After the drive, we were seriously craving some good pizza, and this place was the first to pop up--and wow, it did not disappoint. We got a large cheese, a large pepperoni with half mushrooms, and a salad to go. I'll be honest--I'm a bit of a pizza snob and usually pretty tough to impress. But this pizza? Easily an 11/10. Honestly, I think it might be the best I've had on the entire East Coast. The staff was so kind and welcoming, and even the other customers made us feel at home. I'm so glad we decided to stop here. Even though we're about eight hours away, this place will be my very first stop next time I'm in town. I hope this spot gets all the love and recognition it deserves. God bless! read more

I was out in the sticks of Virginia for a college buddy's wedding and on the way home saw a pizzeria . I am from NYC and don't eat Pizza outside of the North East for obvious reasons . I had no choice and the kids were hungry so we went to " Cucci Pizzeria " somewhere in the mountains of VA . I was shocked that the pie was actually pretty decent and I would bet my last bottom dollar there was nobody in that kitchen of Italian decent. Wasn't a bad pie at all, the kids loved it and from what I understand the family that owns this honky tonk pizza joint is " Italian"??? Never thought there would be an Italian American in that part of the country much less a family that settled there . I doubt you could find a 100% Irish American there either but I was pleasantly surprised with the food . Nice southern manners but their accents were pretty strong. We ordered two pizzas this evening, one thin crust and one Sicilian. The thin crust pizza was good, we kept it simple w/just cheese and pepperoni. The Sicilian pizza though was a disaster. It was saugy and formed a huge ball of wet dough in your mouth every bite. It's a simple fix but the cooks in the kitchen appear to be young and inexperienced. All you have to do is parbake the Sicilian slightly before you load it up with toppings. Parbake it guys, every itailian knows this..... This will fix your wet saugy Sicilian pizzas. read more

I was traveling solo through Covington, Virginia I needed to stop for lunch and found this wonderful, warm and inviting Italian restaurant. I was greeted so warmly and treated well. I didn't feel at all weird being alone even though the place was crowded with couples and friends and families. The salad bar was wonderful and the dressings are homemade and delicious. Great food. Couldn't stop in last Monday since they were closed but always stop in when visiting for work.

We found this place randomly on a day trip and decided to pop in, since it was rated top 10 in Virginia. Not entirely sure why. We were treated very standoffishly and placed in a room in the back alone. Staff was friendly. Unfortunately did not carry several typical items (water/lemon, drinks, toppings). Food was incredible and quite large, however!! Great bread appetizer and salad as well. Wish we could've had the true experience. read more

My husband and I absolutely love Cucui's! We drive the 30 minutes at Least once a week to eat here. The restaurant is clean and the staff is always attentive and friendly. But the best part is always the food. It is consistent and delicious every time we visit. I get up in Covington and remember the turnovers and that pizza sauce. Well fast forward 30 years and I had to bring my wife and kids. I sat down and my wife said "Are you sure you want to do this?" I had to. We ordered a turnover, sandwich, and a couple of pizzas. Everything was delicious and even though I live four hours away, I think about when the next time will be that I can visit. I had the mushroom steak sandwich and the lasagna. Both were 5/5. The lasagna came with one free trip to the salad bar and free bread. The bread is made fresh at Cucci's and tastes incredible. I could eat the bread all day. The owner of the restaurant likes to visit the tables and talk to clients! Not only is the food delicious, the prices are very reasonable. Sandwich with chips=$6.05. Cucci's is a local favorite and everyone in Covington knows and loves this place. My sister took the fam here for some dinner tonight. She called ahead and had a table reserved for our party of 7. The staff were super friendly and accommodating for our generally annoying group. Whenever we patronize an Italian restaurant we refer to Parmesan as "sprinkle cheese" and other such annoyances. I, of course had to get the server to explain everything that said "Cucci special" on it, just because I thought it sounded funny. Our server never flinched. We ordered an assortment of menu items and everyone enjoyed their meals. I feasted on the spaghetti with meat sauce which came with the salad bar and fresh baked bread. I was a little sad when I learned the bread was not "garlic buttered", but quickly forgot about this when the tasty freshly baked bread baskets arrived. I personally devoured a loaf on my own. (This place serves their bread with real butter - good sign.) The menu featured their house dressing, so I had to get some salad just to try it out. The salad dressing was vinegar based, and I LOVE vinegar, yet I found it just too vinegary for my taste. Puckerville! My sister commented that I was "smacking my lips like granny" and I told her the dressing was so tart I could not help it! The spaghetti with meat sauce was tasty and had good flavor. I enjoyed the sauce and continued to dip more bread into it as I enjoyed the dish. One sister ordered the "Cucci special" turnover which is really a calzone, but it was plated in a moat of tomato sauce and she found the uncooked contents of the turnover to churn the stomach. The other sister ordered the eggplant parm, and enjoyed every tasty morsel. No complaints here. The decor is original from the day the doors opened, but it kind of adds to the charm. If you like overpriced Red Baron pizza, then this is the place for you! Maybe I'm spoiled because I grew up in Buffalo and we have tons of good pizzerias, but this was honestly some of the worst pizza I've ever had, and we went simple and got a cheese pizza so there wasn't much to mess up. There is nothing delicious about the crust, the sauce, or the cheese (my first bite reminded me of school lunch pizza), and the ratios are all off and make it just seem leaving. I accidentally burned the cheese on a frozen pizza this last weekend and it still tasted better as a cold leftover than this did fresh from the restaurant. Sorry Cucci's. read more

I travel to this area frequently, which often includes a stop at this restaurant. Always very good meal with superior service. One of the local favorites on the menu is the homemade bread which they use for the sandwiches or you can get simply as sauce and bread as an appetizer. Well, the spaghetti was over cooked and mushy, the salad bar was small but the items were cold and good. I'm not sure why they leave hot plates for a cold salad bar. The dinners were just okay but my biggest negative was all the cleaning going on around us and the over powering cleaning smell. It didn't make for an appetizing atmosphere.
