Her sincere wish to aid others (myself) took the cake, just so LOVELY. Christy @ the Winsted Drive location carted me willingly through the facilities to review the various unit sizes (and in this Dallas heat too... Thank Heavens for Public Storages climate controlled units, which i opted for - all smiles), she personally showed me how to navigate the complex (where to park, how to properly access the unit) effortlessly orchestrated account setup, hauled boxes + did so superbly. Unacceptable Billing Practices and Poor Customer Service at Public Storage…read more I have had multiple storage units with Public Storage at the Highland Village and Lewisville locations, but my recent experience has been beyond frustrating and unacceptable. On 1/15/25, I made an online payment of $885.60 using my AmEx. Later, I realized that I had been mistakenly charged for a unit I had vacated more than two months prior at the Lewisville location. Thankfully, the Lewisville staff handled the issue professionally and refunded the incorrect charge of $295.20 without issue. Then, on 2/28/25, I received a text saying my units were at risk of lien, but to disregard the message if payment had already been made--which it had been on 1/15/25. The next day, I received a rude voicemail from Pam at the Highland Village location stating that my lock had been cut, liens had been placed, and my unit was going up for auction! When I contacted Pam to clarify the mistake, she insisted she could not see my payment confirmation but oddly could see the refund of $295.20 from Lewisville. I repeatedly informed her that my payment had been made, but she refused to acknowledge it and demanded a letter from my credit card company as proof--not an email, not an online statement, but a mailed letter! Meanwhile, my unit and belongings were at risk of being auctioned off due to their incompetence. To make matters worse, on 2/1/25, Public Storage refunded my AmEx $590.40--essentially returning the rest of my original payment without explanation. When I logged into my account, I now owed $1,302.20 in storage fees, late fees, and lien charges; I paid this to ensure my items would not be auctioned off! This entire situation is unacceptable. Public Storage's system is clearly flawed, and their customer service at Highland Village is disgraceful. I paid on time, yet I was treated like a criminal customer and forced to jump through hoops to prove a payment I had already made. If you're considering renting with Public Storage, beware of their questionable billing practices and lack of accountability. I've been using this storage unit for a couple years now, and the only minor issue I've had with…read morethem is that their price has gone up over the last year. That's a bit of a bummer, but not totally unexpected or crazy or anything. This is a nice, clean, and safe facility (as far as I can tell!). Storage units always have a bit of a creepy factor no matter where they're located, especially if your unit is completely inside a building like mine. I will admit I feel a bit nervous every time I meander through the long identical hallways looking for my unit, and I feel like it'd be pretty easy to get lost in there... But you can always grab a map at the front desk or ask the staff to remind you which path to take! The staff has always been extremely helpful and readily available to answer questions, so you can count on that. Paying online is ultra easy and literally only takes two clicks once all of your payment information is entered. Just don't be late on your payment or they immediately tag on a $10 late fee. I do think this storage unit is a tad expensive, but again, nothing too out of the ordinary!

Brace yourself for an electrifying -- if true -- review…read more If you're of the opinion that all storage units are pretty much created equally, I definitely invite you to go visit a few and get back to me: simply put, there are a wide variety of shenanigans going down at some of these places, and it can be noted that I've been to some where there have been (and I am not making this up), open fires in the parking lot and chatter of side businesses that would seem hysterical were it not for the fact that the man's dentures were rattling around in abject seriousness while he spoke of such side businesses. This, of course, is a story for another time over beers, but for the time being, suffice it to say that I decided to err in favor of sanity and rented a spot at Eagle, French for That Place Where Your Stuff Is Safe. Along the way, I learned lots of things, not the least of which is that A) apparently for some reason folks are renting many more of the climate controlled units than they had been before. There were details as to why, but somewhere in the middle, admittedly I tuned that part out. And B) they are, as one might expect, pretty adamant about the security part of the equation here. That means that you have to punch your code into the gate to get in (not unusual) and then punch it again to get back out again (less usual). What that means is that if some random fellow decides to gun it out of the parking lot behind you after dropping off his stuff -- but doesn't use the keypad -- an alarm goes off tied to the unit he came in under. So that's fun. All protocols aside, the spaces are well kept and the management seems to be genuinely on top of what's up: if you get deliveries from such services (as I occasionally do), you can predetermine who is kosher to drop stuff in your space, and even should you be out of town you can have them place your stuff in your absence. And that's pro enough for me. Thanks, Eagle. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

I scheduled a pickup for 2 PM on a Friday. I arrived at around 1:50 and the front door was locked. I knocked on the front door and no one came after about 5 minutes I figured I would log onto the app and start the pickup process through the app thinking someone would be in the office at 2 PM since that was my appointment time. After I uploaded my DL, I got a message on the app to call U-Haul because the app could not check me in. I called the number provided to me in the message on the app and the customer service rep asked me why I was calling. I told her I was at Greenfill Lone Star Self Storage LLC to pick up the trailer but the front door was locked and I was told through the app to call this number after I uploaded my ID. She was very nice and said that she would see if she could see why no one was there since it was now 2:10 PM. At about 2:15 I could see through the window someone walking in the back door and the customer service rep at U-Haul told me she found someone to help me in the office and they would be right there. The lady opens the door and immediately tells me I did not have to call U-haul that I should have call the number on the door, never saying I'm sorry she was late, no remorse at all for making me wait. I told her that my appointment was for 2 PM it was now 2:15 and now I will probably be late to my appointment. The second employee told me that I had better cut the attitude that she has the right to refuse business anyone she want to, I said, you are late and have an bad attitude that I called U-haul, but I am the customer and should not have to call anyone, you should have been in the office at 2, I said just get me my trailer so I can get out of here. She told the older lady she was not going to give me the trailer and told me to leave. Do not do business with this company, they are rude, do not appreciate their customers and even when they are in the wrong will gas light you trying to turn it around that I was the issue. This place is very dirty and they park the trailers in a overgrown field. All I can say is stay away and go to another place.
