Please ignore the earlier, less positive reviews. Those were written a long time ago and the park has changed quite a bit. We just finished a four-day family reunion where we rented the entire facility (now there is only one lodge--the lodge with the pool has different owners now and we didn't miss it.) The set up is fantastic so that families naturally and easily gather around the tether ball and volleyball courts. There is a large, well-maintained grassy yard in the middle of the RV and tent areas. The lodge has an excellent, large assembly room for gatherings. We used it almost every night. There is a well-stocked kitchen that we all shared. Denise (the owner and manager) couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating to our large group. When cousins kept adding at the last minute, she let us get creative with sleeping arrangements. There is a large loft that the younger cousins used every night. They loved sleeping in a big group. Denise helped us with all the logistics of floating down the Bear River. It was one of the many highlights of a great reunion. She is kind and attentive to her guests. We are all agreed that this is one of the absolute best places for families to gather without going broke. read more

first and foremost half of the land that was formerly apart of this campground which includes a pool and creek is now private property. aside from the decent camping sites, the staff was kind enough to place us near a trashy storage space as well as a porta potty. 10/10 never coming back. don't recommend read more

I don't even know where to start. I don't have time to get into everything that went wrong with this place, but I'll relate some of the biggest issues. My elderly grandparents rented part of the RV and camping area for our annual family reunion. When we got there, the reservations were double booked. There was a lot of rearranging and juggling done to get spots for all 5 RV's and 4-5 tents. Next, the manager (a very nice and helpful lady) told us we were welcome to use the bathrooms in the lodge. I expected to only use the port-a-potties, but after checking them out and finding them to be absolutely disgusting, reeking, and filthy, I wanted to take my son in to use the lodge toilets. What a nightmare to have had my child use those horrible port-a-potties. Others in our group felt the same. After 2 days of several families in our group using the indoor bathrooms, the owner, Denise, singled ME out and yelled at me for using the lodge bathrooms. She was incredibly rude. I was very confused since we were told we COULD use them, and had been for 2 days! We always cleaned up after ourselves and brought in our own toilet paper. When we got there, the pool was completely drained and not cleaned, nor was anyone there to clean it. My lifeguard cousin actually ended up cleaning and filling the pool himself because nobody ever came to do it...That's right, we had to clean and fill the swimming pool ourselves. Denise, the owner, was extremely annoying. She was yelling at all the younger people for things they didn't do (such as running through the lodge, leaving doors "wide open" and spilling food in the hot tub--this was done by another group, but not us). We were told that in order to use the hot tub again, we would have to clean it ourselves, even though we didn't make the mess. So we ended up not only cleaning the pool, but the hot tub as well. Denise also seemed to hover over our group. It was like she watched our every move. She came down to meet with my grandparents SEVERAL times EACH DAY, always unhappy with some little thing or other that we were doing. She seemed to make up rules on the spot. Eventually we began to feel that we couldn't do anything but sit by our RV's. It felt like we were trespassing in a crotchety old neighbor's backyard. We felt VERY unwelcome. I didn't spend much time in the lodges, but they seemed very outdated and run down. Decor looked like it was from the '90's and I saw TWO 2-car garages absolutely packed full of junk, like a Hoarders episode. If I were reading this review, I'd wonder if our group was a bunch of hooligans, trashing the place and being rude... But we are just regular, nice people. We have a reunion every year at other places and never experienced issues like this. The owner needs to learn how to run a real business. She needs lessons on how to treat her customers. Maybe if she had spent less time hovering and forcing her guests to clean the entire place, and more time tending to her own responsibilities, she'd be better off. It's too bad that someone with some sense and organization skills doesn't buy this place and bring it up to its potential. Never setting foot there again. read more

The perfect place to get away that is not snooty or too rustic. Family reunions work awesome here, we had over 25 people in different housing, lodge-RV-Tents-Campers. Everyone was tickled to the max about the weekend. The history in the area is fascinating. Food next door could not have been better. Cache forest is so diverse and breathtaking. The Lodge was the perfect place for our little family reunion with plenty of beds and a large kitchen for preparing and eating meals. Two refrigerators was an added plus. Three picnic tables were great for eating outdoors. Being a sports minded family, there was always something to do with all the outdoor activities: swimming, volleyball, horseshoe tournaments, tether ball, biking, hot-tubbing and playing games with the family while relaxing in the plentiful shade. One son-in-law took some of the little grandsons fishing on the nearby Cub River where they were thrilled to catch some cut-throat trout! Denise was so friendly and accommodating for our every need. Beautiful and great place to stay in an RV! There was also a family reunion going on when we were there, they looked like they were having a blast. The owner was pleasant and helpful. Our site was full hook up with a picnic table and fire ring. We would definately go again. read more

We went to this location for a family reunion this summer. The surrounding area is beautiful and it backs right up to the Cache National Forest. The forest has pleanty of 4 wheeler trails in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. It has a great swimming pool that is fed by fresh spring water that comes out at 72 degrees. In 90 degree weather, it feels great. That's where the good stuff ends. We were supposed to have the entire place to ourselves (2 lodges, RV spots, pool, etc), but that never totally happened...but we were okay with that. The main lodge where everyone was spending most of our time was nice, but the AC wasn't working at all, so it was a sweat fest while in there...but we dealt with it and were having a good time anyway. The last night we were there (we spent 4 nights), we were hoping to take an evening dip in the pool that we were supposed to have exclusive rights to. We weren't supposed to need to share the pool with the other campers that weren't "supposed" to be there. Well, that was easily accomplished since they drained the pool. The guy in charge responded, "You guys are leaving in the morning anyway". That was all tolerable, but the part that put me over the edge in regards to this place was the chores we had to do before we left if we wanted our deposit back. All sheets needed to be stripped from the beds, and fresh linens put back on the beds. Oh, did I mention the beds, matresses, and linen all looked like they came from the local second hand store? Yeah...I saw some pretty nasty stained sheets. Oh, and the pillows? I'm not sure that a second hand store would even sell pillows as nasty as what they expected us to sleep on. The pillows weren't even white. Oh! I can't forget their inability to properly match sizes of matresses and boxsprings too! The bed my daughter and her cousin slept on was a queen mattress with a full size box spring. I have no idea why they kept falling out of bed in the middle of the night. It couldn't have been because the matress was too big for the bed/box spring. You're complaining about changing sheets? Yes...but only because that's not all we had to do. We were also supposed to clean the tubs, toilets, and bathrooms and vacuum both lodges. Uhhhh, anyone hear of housekeeping?? So, not only did we have to sleep on second hand furniture and bedding, we had to change the beds and completely clean the place. With this type of work being required from a "professional establishment", I thought for sure we were getting some kind of "sweat equity" discount...but I was wrong. We were paying full price. Apparently it was just part of the rustic experience we were paying for! Also, not only did we get to do all of the cleaning while paying full price, we also had to provide our own garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels, and bath towels. Did I mention we still had to pay full price?? So, all in all, this place is in a beautiful environment that has so much potential to be a great vacation place...they just need an owner who has a clue how to run a professional establishment. They also need a housekeeper since the place is filthy due to relying on vacationers to do the cleaning. My family had a great time seeing relatives we haven't seen in years and enjoyed our time in that part of the country, but I would not recommend going to this place unless they knock a chunk off the price and offer bedding without rips and stains. As for myself...I'm not going back unless some new owners come along that know how to hire a housekeeper and purchase toilet paper and garbage bags! read more

We just did a family reunion at their larger cabin and very much enjoyed it. It was a perfect balance of being clean, well maintained, and well equipt without having to pay for a bunch of pointless luxuries (ie fancy lighting, matching bed spreads, expensive decor). In other words, it was a perfect find for a middle class extended family. We had a blast hiking, swimming in the pool, shooting guns up the canyon, playing night games in the yard, and going to nearby Bear Lake and Minnedoka Caves. We wanted to go to Lava Hot Springs as well, but ran out of time -so I guess we'll just have to come back!!! The owner was very helpful and kind and the AC in our upstairs bedroom kept us nice and cool. My one complaint is that there was a bed frame that jutted out a bit and my wife dented her shin on it. Otherwise, it was an economical and comfortable stay in one of the most beautifully green areas in Idaho that I have ever seen. We have been to Cub River RV park approximately four times now. I would like to address some of the complaints which have been levied against the professionalism of the owner and the operational methods of this park. Some of the complaints expressed here, are without question true. The bedding etc. inside the lodges is substandard. The guests do have to strip their beds and do their own laundry. It was personally explained to me by the owner that this practice was designed to keep costs down. ?? In any event, we have come to know Denise. She is one of the sweetest, most honest people you will every meet. Truth is, however, she is WAY over her head. The story about her husband is absolutely true. We have enjoyed parking our 5th wheels in her park and we love the near by ATV riding. So, we have over looked the unquestionable lack of professional organizational structure of this operation. Having said all this, I would love nothing more than to help Denise, rather than criticize her. This place desperately needs an honest, hard working, organized helper (or two) in order to function more efficiently. Double bookings are a serious problem here. Denise is a "one man band." This place has incredible potential to really "rock." But the maintenance and logistical needs are completely out of the owner's league. Don't let this stop you from going, though. We have always had fun at Cub River. BTW the food at the restaurant nearby (does not belong to Denise) is down right nasty! read more
