It took forever to get off the plane. There was a long line at the bathroom. And *still* when I got to the baggage claim area... the bags weren't rolling. Finally a couple of bags appeared. they were from SFO, so definitely my flight. Yay! After those first two bags, though... it was another ten minutes until more bags came! What were they doing back there, peeking through holes in the wall and laughing at us? Grr. Once I had my bag, it took a while to figure out the "Suburban Taxi" system. See, if you're going to the 'burbs, you should not get into the taxi line unless you want to be charged an arm and a leg. Instead, you have to call for a "Pre-arranged Suburban Taxi" to meet you at their special pickup place. So... from landing to actually getting into a taxi sook one hour, twenty minutes. Ouch. Two stars because the Orlando airport sucks even more. read more

Really nice looking station. Directly connected to airport which is awesome. A cheap alternative to get to downtown. It was about 40-45 minute journey to our hotel in the Loop. You have a number of kiosks to purchase your CTA passes or tickets. read more

SUUUUUUPER easy peasy way to get into the heart of Chicago from O'Hare. If you're visiting for a few days, make sure to buy a 3-day (or however many day) unlimited pass from the machines! They are sold on a separate machine from the big one that only doles out single tickets. The passes are extremely worth it. There are always trains waiting here everytime I visit Chicago (think this was my 5th or 6th time). The ride does take a while but no complaints! read more

I have not had to deal w/ too many insane delays here...maybe I've just been lucky due to travel during good-weather times. All in all a decent airport. Worst. Airport. Ever. Who can argue? I only gave it one star because I can't give negative stars. I've spent plenty of time at all of the nations "bad" airports: JFK, LAX, LGA, ATL, DFW, etc., so I do feel qualified in making my opening statement. Key features of ORD: -Inconvenient to get in & out of, relative to other major airports -Bitter, jaded employees at all airlines -Your flight will not be on time -You will miss your connection -Your flight will be canceled -They will wait till the last second to announce the delay/cancellation so that you are unable to make other plans -Worst runway configuration, helping compound weather delays -Bad weather -Depressing interior, even United's "new"er terminal -Not enough seating for all the people routinely stranded -Nasty ass bathrooms -Long security lines (but only when you're in a hurry) during peak times Positives (please shoot me now for even thinking there might be something positive to come of this) -Lot's of choices -Choices lead sometimes to better prices If you're originating in Chicago, use Midway if possible. If you're connecting, go through Denver, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Charlotte, or (*gasp*) Dallas. Even with Atlanta and Dallas you have a prayer of making your connection. read more

We found ourselves here on an unexpected visit. Ever since becoming an adult and paying for my own flights I have always flown Southwest which directs me to Midway. This was my first visit to the O'hare Blue line stop as a Yelp aficionado. It just happened to come only a few days after a train director had fallen asleep at the wheel and bypassed the last stop for a ride right up the escalator. For the past week they had been shuttling commuters from the Rosemont stop to O'Hare. This usually prompted riders to all exit as we would normally do to catch the bus from here. Except today they had just begun continuation of the complete route and we weren't paying attention. Next thing we knew we had passed Rosemont and were on our way to the infamous O'Hare stop. It was not problem we hopped off safely and simply transferred to the train heading back to the Loop in the opposite direction at no charge. Good thing we didn't fall asleep. read more

This maybe the second busiest airport in the US but this is how an airport should be designed. The terminals are laid out in a giant horseshoe with the train station right in the middle. What could be simpler? The trains are fast, clean, cheap ($2.25) and efficient. I never had to wait long for a train. During the rush hour this is the way to go. I made the mistake by taking a taxi from the Loop and while sitting in traffic on the Expressway I could see several trains pass us by. Oh yeah, the cost of the taxi was $50 including tip. Ouch! LAX, my home town, has a simple U shaped lay out but no easy transportation. Must take free shuttle buses to Metro Bus Center in Lot C, then take another bus to the Subway Green Line or where ever. Transportation to and from is cheap $1.75. JFK, what a clusterfuck! The person that designed this nightmare should be shot. Public transportation is just like LAX and driving is total hell. They have on and off ramps that are so confusing. WTF! NWR the design is similar to O'hare and LAX. The transit system is easy to use. However the cost to take the New Jersey Transit to Penn Station is a steep $15. I love ORD. read more

Train conveniently near baggage claim terminal 3 American. $5 or as low as $2.50 to get to downtown in 35-45 minutes or so. I had no wait, and less than fifteen minutes on my return trip. It was safe on a Thursday during rush hour and Saturday afternoon. read more

I have taken this service on previous trips to Chicago. It CAN be good, or it can be AWFUL. The good: cheap, convenient, runs on schedule. The almost good: train cars could be cleaner. The bad: We took the train from the city to O'Hare for an early Sunday morning flight. It was 5:45AM and like entering the Twilight Zone. The train was filthy-as in I'm not sitting on that seat because I can't/don't want to identify the substance which appears to be covering it. There are completely drunk/high/passed out people on the train (I nearly got vomited on, the poor guy near me got fully hit). It also felt unsafe. I felt awful for regular users, if this is what to expect if you have to take an early train. You can do better, CTA! I know because I love your city! read more

This train line is by far the nicest of all of the CTAs many options. I had the pleasure of taking this train yesterday as I was quite tired and didn't want to drive to a party with many distinguished guests. The trip started off with a typical stop to pick up some roadies (you know, I am not driving so no harm). I'll tell you what...those three tacos tasted ohhh so good while sitting on the luxuriously appointed train watching the silly motorists speed past me. Once I got to the stop near the party I popped the address in my phone and noted it would only be a 2.15 mile walk. Needless to say I made it about 1.75 miles and stopped for more roadies...but sadly saw another Blue Line stop. I wish the CTA would hire better staff to dispense directions! The person I asked on the train demanded my guacamole and quite frankly may have been drunk. He was about 6 foot 2, dressed in lavender leisure suit and wearing a Santa hat. He smelled like my Uncle does when he has a bad day betting on the ponies. In retrospect I fear I may had just asked a homeless man for directions, not a CTA employee. Guess that is one mystery that will never be solved. read more

For anyone travelling into Chicago via the O'Hare airport, this should be your preferred method of transportation into the city. Its fast, its easy, and it gets you pretty much exactly where you need to go. Each of my three trips to Chicago have involved riding the Blue Line both to and from the airport and each time has been super easy. It runs 24 hours a day so no extra planning to make sure you don't miss it. There's always another one on the way! read more

This is actually quite a convenient station. I was able to walk only a few steps and be right in the airport. The major downside is the grit and overwhelming odors that assault your senses when you enter the platform. But, overall, my CTA experience was efficient, convenient, and much cheaper than a cab or uber. Definitely take CTA if you have to go to and from the airports! read more

If you are going to the airport on the blueline be prepared wait 15 to 20 minutes....longer There is only one line/track going in/out the station. Excuse me, this is one of the busiest airports in America....WTF. Where are at...the past? read more

We did our research before heading to Chicago and decided the best (and cheapest) way to get downtown from ORD was to take the train. It was super easy to find, as there are signs throughout the airport leading you to the station. I'm pretty sure we didn't even need to walk outside to get there. There is a friendly gentleman offering help to people having trouble purchasing tickets, but the process is quite simple. Once you've purchased your ticket, you head to the platform. We never had to wait more than a few minutes before the train showed up, so getting to your destination doesn't take all that long. Definitely recommend the train if you need to get downtown from ORD. read more

Great location right under the terminal complex. Always clean and always a train waiting for you. In the winter that is a major plus. If you want to get downtown fairly quickly and don't want to pay 50 bucks for a cab, this is a deal. read more

As an out of town visitor, I found the entire system to be easy to use. Took the blue line straight into down town for $5. Loved speeding past all the stopped traffic on the expressway. Purchasing a centra card was simple. I used my smartphone to register the card and receive the extra fee back as transit value. All station personnel were helpful and friendly. Chicago is lucky to have their airports linked to the city by such a good transit system read more

Trains are fairly frequent. 5 dollars going from airport to downtown, $3 going back. Watch out for numorous bums and pickpockets.

4.5+ Well, so far so good with the transit system and the airport is huge. It is easy to get lost if you haven't figured out the different paths from terminals and parking, etc. We parked at a daily parking place and took the shuttle to our checkin/gate. Was pretty harmless, and I must say Chicago has one of the cleanest airports compared to LAX. read more

Wow. I would ordinarily be really supportive of a city's efforts to provide public transit to and from an airport, but the staff here make riding the train an exasperating exercise! Their fare card vending machines were malfunctioning, so I went to an unstaffed booth to see if there were other ways to pay. I asked a woman in a CTA uniform who seemed to be trying to avoid me where I could go for help. She told me, in an exasperated tone, that the magnetic strip on my card needed to face right. I explained that I tried it that way but didn't have any luck, and she then sighed loudly, said "here we go" to another employee, rolled her eyes at me, got up, and walked over to a machine with me. I showed her what I was doing and was half way through the process when she walked away. The machine rejected my purchase again. I went back to ask for her help again and she shrugged at me. I asked if there was any other way of purchasing a fare or whether I needed to take a cab, and she told me I could do whatever I want. I took her photo (I'd be happy to share it with CTA managers), and walked away. One of her colleagues shouted after me that I "can't take photos because this is an AIRPORT!" I finally managed to pick a machine that others succeeded with, and bought a ticket. I took the escalator down to the train and one of a group of men in vests who seemed to be on break shouted after me "to the LEFT!" I went left to the empty platform and a minute later, another attendant started shouting "walk DOWN!" in an angry tone at other passengers. In fairness, there way one staffer on the platform who seemed eager to help the wandering masses of tourists, but he was the exception. All the other staff acted like they couldn't be bothered to do their jobs and were angry about something. Long story short: this SHOULD be a great way to get downtown from the airport, but due to an overwhelmingly nasty staff, I would steer clear if I were you. Worst public transit experience ever. Also of note: the trains don't have any luggage storage area, and the space between the seats is too narrow for most suitcases, so expect to get condescending looks from other riders as your suitcase blocks the aisle. read more

This is one of the biggest airports I have ever been too. I thought everything was easy to find and clearly labeled. The security lines were very reasonable. A major plus is that a rail line (CTA blue line $2.25) connects to this airport and takes you to the downtown loop area with 45 minutes. However, expect for you take 20-30 minutes from your gate to get to the rail line entrance. And if you are in Terminal 1, don't forget to say hi to Sue. You'll know her when you see her. She's a big girl and hard to miss. read more

I hate this blasted place! Came here on 2/18 to get to Culvers via Pace bus 250, and got lost multiple times inside the airport. Idky, but approaching this station on the train that night after leaving Rosemont gave me the creeps! No kidding! Maybe because I hadn't been to this station in a little over four years and it looks odd to me, and I saw TSA agents on top of that. It's clean, sparkling, and free of maniacs that use drugs and alcohol, or intentionally pee on themselves and their surrondings, three things I love out of any place, but other than that, I wouldn't come here anytime soon. This is the first time i had rode the CTA system and i really enjoyed it. They can basically get you anywhere in the city. They are busy and you have to stand sometimes but that is part of a busy city. They are reasonably priced too and very clear on which train, bus, tram etc to get onto. If I lived in Chicago, i would probably never have to drive a car! I wish more major cities were like this! read more

This is the way to travel around the city. I am new to public transportation and man im hooked. $14.00 for 3 days unlimited rides ANY trains in the city. Red , Blue Purple Brown or green there is no place in Chicago you cant get. We got from O'Hare to Willis Tower in 50 min in mid day traffic. I will be doing more of my travel with the CTA. There is a 20 minute wait on Ventra machines...should have taken a picture, the lines are outrageous and there are about 6 cta employees just standing there (not that there's much they can do, but really?-I would take exact change passengers with 2 witnesses to be deposited thereafter), they should add more machines, there are only 9, and sometimes 1 or 2 are out of order) for the amount of traffic that originates there...tsk tsk tsk...Cta buearocracy at it's finest. read more

Pros: station proximity to terminals; decent train frequency Cons: Horrendous lack of ventilation causes station to be stiflingly hot & humid from April to Oct. There have been times in the June-Sept period where it felt like 100F on the platform & by the Ventra machines. How the station was designed w/o adequate venting defies belief...perhaps corruption in 1970s city govt had them accepting a dud design in return for a kickback. Even in the depths of winter, the station is warm (as are the inter-terminal monorail stations where they seem to set the thermostats to 80-90F). Beware that the CTA allows people to live/sleep on the Blue line - this means you will encounter a heavy urine stench from the Ohare stn platforms, and heavy b.o. stench from some of the folks who use the train as a bedroom. When station staff are asked about the above cons, they will just shrug their shoulders, and convey a sort of, 'too bad, so sad' response. Bottom line: the blue line & the ohare stn are convenient & reasonably priced, but otherwise just barely tolerable. read more

if you have the chicago cta card, the fare is still 2.25 with 25 cents transfer, if you don't, your fare is up to $5 per ride, that sux!

Get a stand by ticket from US Airways and fly to Phoenix. You will be leaving in the airport for a month and you will not be able to go to Phoenix. The best part of this standby ticket, you stay in OHare Airport for $150 for a month and you have a/c, tv, and internet. What a deal. US Airways will not fly you out of the airport. There's a lot of standing by and you are the lowest of the lowest priority. It's like living in luxury for little cost. read more
