I love this stop! It's central for a casual walk, kept very clean, has lots of dining and shopping places, and is well lit with very specific directions about where you are in relation to where you want to be. The blue line for me is the loudest line and I more often than not feel very uncomfortable taking it, but the Damen stop itself makes up for the crappy ride.

I completely agree with Mark E. - this stop has a lot of charm. And that view of Chicago... mm, mm! If you've seen the #SearsFromHere photos on instagram, this provides the perfect vantage point for you to take one of your own.

Public transportation. Not super clean, but that's to be expected. Staff is friendly. A for having a machine with the ability to add money to your card with credit.

Addison is accessible, has ample digital signage, and is easy to navigate. It is also wider than average for an 'L' station and is relatively clean, especially given how many people pass through. This amount of foot traffic is, however, its undoing. When there's a Cubs game or another event at Wrigley, Addison proves to be ill-equipped for the sheer volume of people. Yes, there is staff present to help manage crowds, but a packed platform is suboptimal for multiple reasons, especially safety. I appreciate that due to the CTA's setup, one cannot simply wish a wider station into existence. It may be possible, but it would be extraordinarily capital-intensive. That said, CTA-Addison gets the job done very well outside of Wrigley events, and passably during them.

I boarded the redline at Addison for year and years to get downtown for my previous job, so this…read morereview is long overdue. This train stop is very well kept, and I'm sure it's location to Wrigley Field has a lot to do with that. There are two escalators (granted -- one is usually down), an elevator, and a HUGE platform so there is plenty of space to spread out. There is a woman who works here every morning who is as sweet as can be and always greets us regulars with a smile. The redline is not always the safest of trains, but it sure can get you downtown faster than the brown! If you're in town exploring the city or going to a Cubs game, nothing is more convenient than hopping off at Addison as the stop just steps from the field. If you live in the neighborhood, this can definitely be a downside. On game nights, the streets are flooded with fans and vendors. The trains from downtown back up to Wrigley are packed with fans going to the games in addition to the regulars heading home from work. It can definitely add some extra time getting home, which is something to keep in mind during the summer months. Overall, I always feel safe at this stop, the employees are friendly, it's well maintained, and the trains are *usually* on time!

The train takes you to the museums stop, Hyde Park, the south burbs, and the University of Chicago. It's the cheapest and most convenient way to visit the city.

I seem to recall my initial thoughts being about how clean and sensical this station was! As a terminus, it's very easy to navigate, with clear signage telling you which track the next train will depart from. The station is also extremely well-lit and clean, especially given how many people pass through at all hours of the day and night. I've never had any safety concerns, at least in part due to the large number of fast-walking people, security, and police presence. While not a museum piece, I appreciate that the glass walls have some colorful lighting behind them. For a station that is technically underground, it's a warm retreat from the otherwise fully utilitarian ones. The one tiny hope I have is that signage along the platform would reflect when the train will actually depart. I generally like to be as close to the head car as possible and always worry the doors will start to close on me. Though to be fair this is more a CTA issue than one with the station itself. Last, but certainly not least, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the convenience of having an El station right under the airport! I am able to connect to the rest of the city without having to fuss around with buses and other transit options. With all this, the O'Hare El Station ticks all the boxes for what I would expect and hope for in a station serving one of the nation's busiest airports.
