It's fine. It's got a lot of square footage so there are a lot of bottles! No kidding. :) As seen in previous comments the staff there is not the friendliest bunch of employees. You can sign up for their emails and that way you can track when they are offering good prices on popular items. You would think in a store this big they would have a lot of excellent wine choices. I'm a bit of a "wine snob" and I can tell you that they have all the predictable sellers but I don't think they have a wine expert on the staff. This is a beautiful and large package store with a big and easily accessible parking lot. I have been very happy with the customer service I have received while shopping here. Since this is a fairly large store, if I am looking for something specific, I can ask someone and I know they will bring me right to it. This store is very organized and quite clean. Each section is marked with a sign (whiskey, rum, tequila, etc), and I love the large selection of wine! I find the prices here to be quite fair and the selection is outstanding. I live in close proximity so I'll definitely be a repeat customer! read more

Truly hit or miss here. Sometimes you get great service, sometimes you walk up to the counter and all the employees are talking to each other and it takes a minute or two to before you get noticed. Or like the time I went in before Christmas to get several bottles of the wine I was planning to serve at Christmas dinner, Sterling Cabernet. Pretty mainstream wine. I looked where it is normally stocked, can't find it. Ask one of the older men who work there (I take him to be a manager or owner) and he says its discontinued, they don't have it anymore. Another woman employee overhears us and says it's in the other wine room, he tells her it's not in a very dismissive way. Well, I ended up finding it right where it usually was, I had just missed it the first time I looked. When I went in today, there were several cases of it in the wine room, so the woman was right. Know what you're taking about before you tell a customer something. You ARE trying to make a sale, I would think? Their prices are also usually quite high. I generally go to some of the smaller stores in town, who have more competitive pricing. I tend to go to Beverage Mart only when I need more specialized items or when I need to buy for a party and just want the ease of getting everything I need in one place. read more

Rude. Uncomfortable. They made me feel less than. I have dodge this place for a bit.. I went in tonight because my spirit go to place was closed. They asked for my id.. fine..but I had to go back to my car grab it.. come back in and circle around the entire store to get to the register..which is a maze and not easy to do. Once there the gal with ice blond hair was cold and not responsive. This place is just to big.. and to uncomfortable for people trying to randomly buy spirits. Overpriced. Poor service. They don't care about the customer, just how much they can make. High prices, rude staff, and dirty store.

CT Beverage Mart is a solid liquor store with some good things and some mediocre things. Firstly, the beer selection is quite good with the largest selection of lambics I have seen. There are lots of 24 and 30 can packs as well as a good selection of local and foreign craft beers. The wine selection is extensive. Read that carefully because I said extensive, not good. They have entire aisle categories just for specific vineyards that make those gallon jugs of wine. However, the upside is, you can find lots of options for wine that ranges mostly from $9 - $17. Not a bad place to stop for a party bottle. The liquor selection is strange with some things like gin having an usually large number of specialty options and other things like tequila having a smaller than normal selection. You will be able to find all your big brands of course. Basically, liquor store with inconsistent levels of choice and quality. Fine selection. Good for your standards. Nothing too special. read more

The manager told my husband and I to put our beer down at the register 2 Minutes before closing and made us leave. Another employee had just warned us as we were walking up to the register that we had three minutes left. Not only is the communication in this store ineffective but the customer Service is terrible. We will certainly find another business who is more accommodating and polite to their customers. read more

They have a HUGE selection of alcohol (ranging from wine coolers to beers to liquor, etc). The place is super spacious and we found everything we were looking for and then some. We were specifically looking for this one blueberry beer brand, and they had it. As a bonus, we ended up buying "test tube shots" and cans of Four Loko "just because" along with all of our other alcohol (mind you, all of this was for 2 people). The cashier was really friendly and also asked us if we wanted refrigerated versions of the test tube shots we bought. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something very specific. They will most likely carry it. read more

Great selection but failure at customer service. I purchased a single bottle of Australian shiraz, a 90+ Cellars SA Shiraz. It was approx $12. I also purchased a 4-pack of Alvarium Phresh IPA, which I was delighted to find at this location. The beer was fantastic. Unfortunately the wine was off. This was odd given it was a screw cap, but nonetheless I returned it the Wallingford outlet a few days later and explained I purchased this wine a few days previous and it was off. The reaction of the staff was clearly one of employees who had not been empowered to do more than take customers money. One staff who appeared to be in charge asked the lady I was dealing with (the same lady who sold me the items initially), "do you want me to taste it"? Given that this was not going to be satisfactory customer service experience, I asked if they would refund me the value against another purchase and I explained I did not have my receipt. There was silence. Disappointed and vowing never to return to this fast food outlet masquerading as a premium package store, I grabbed another equally inexpensive bottle of red, another 4-pack of Phresh, paid (same lady) and left. read more

Place is a joke. I got refused service for not having a "real mask" even though I took the courtesy of covering my face. Guess they'd rather not sell me all the stuff I touched and they'd rather handle it and put it back on the shelves like that makes a lot of sense. read more

Horrible. Most of the time I can get beer cheaper at price chopper down the road. Customer service is also horrible as well. No one ever asks me if I need help. They used to send out emails every week with specials, not anymore. Let's hope total wine and more or crazy Bruce comes to middletown so this place can shut down. read more

I have been a steady customer at the Middletown CBM for 20+ years. I was less than satisfied with the reception I received June 1, 2012 @ 2:10 PM. I was returning #152, clean, dry and organized empties that I purchased from CBM Middletown last week prior to the Memorial Day gathering. I received a look that could kill followed by the comment "garbage truck full" as I removed the 12 packs containers from the cart and placed them on the counter. I proceeded to collect the $7.30 deposit and voiced my concern to the cashier. She may have been caught off guard, but appeared annoyed that I would have an issue with poor customer service. . Rest assured, I will continue to visit CBM Middletown in the future. I will most likely be returning more of the clean, dry, and organized empties. However I will most likely be purchasing from other local establishments, the establishments that treat customers with dignity and respect, rather than disdain and disgust. read more
