They have entire aisle categories just for specific vineyards that make those gallon jugs of wine. However, the upside is, you can find lots of options for wine that ranges mostly from $9 - $17. Not a bad place to stop for a party bottle. The liquor selection is strange with some things like gin having an usually large number of specialty options and other things like tequila having a smaller than normal selection. You will be able to find all your big brands of course. Basically, liquor store with inconsistent levels of choice and quality. Fine selection. Good for your standards. Nothing too special.

By that time the driver had pulled away. Right away, I called Forest City to explain, and I asked if they could contact the driver? The woman on the other end was so defensive and rude. She yelled over me "we've delivered to you before, we know your order!". I was mindful about never blaming them, because I honestly felt the driver just accidentally left part of my order in the car. I calmly told her that I know it must be the drivers error. Can we contact him? I also said "I just want to receive what I paid for". Her response was to hang up on me!!!!! A minute later she called me back and yelled at me that the reason she hung up was because I asked "too many questions" (Um... I only asked if she could contact the driver??) and told me she had to hang up because she had "real" customers in front of her and "didn't have time to talk to me". She hardly let me get a word in. I stayed calm and quiet and let her rant about how "they have cameras" blah blah blah. In the end I told her I would just never shop there again. That seemed to offend her, so I politely ended the call and said "good night" A $20 error us not worth my energy, but her horrible customer service lost her a long term customer. Good thing their competition will happily accept me as a customer. I'm really disappointed by the horrible service I received.

Service and prices. My favorite wine is $2 cheaper here than it is at CT Beverage Mart, and the service is better than any other store in the area. The owners and employees are so helpful. Unlike other stores where you may wander around aimlessly with no one to help you (yes, CBM, I'm talking to you), at The Grog Shop they're quick to lend a helping hand. They have a relatively big selection and will give discount pricing on cases of wine. If you want something but don't see it, just ask - they may have it in the back or may be able to order for you.

This interaction has convinced me this is the last time we're shopping here. I went in on 10/6 to…read morepurchase some Guinness for some recipes we're making. After getting into the store, I walked over to the beer section. Nice neon pink sign above the Guinness, 8 pack of cans for $15.99. I got to the register and the guy scans it and says $18... Now I'm not a math wizard BUT I know that the amount didn't sound right. I looked up and noticed the $15.99 that it was supposed to be rang up at $16.17. I said ummm the sign says $15.99. The cashier responds yea but there's sales tax and bottle deposit. I said I get that BUT the subtotal should say $15.99. He then goes on to this long drawn out story that they do that at the register so the people paying cash don't need to bring 81 cents with them and they don't have to make change for someone that pays them $18 in cash. I paid, and was not even offered a receipt. Had I remembered Connecticut Consumer Commodities Law (CGS Sec. 21a-79) at the time, I'd have asked to speak to the owner. That specific statue is known as the "Get it for free" section: Get it for Free: If an electronic checkout scanner rings up a consumer commodity at a higher price than the posted shelf price, you are entitled to one instance of that item completely free of charge, up to a value of $20. I was argued with, told it was easier for them to not have to make change and the only "fix" was the cashier saying "oh yea I really need to change that sign". While it doesn't seem like a bid deal (and I was on a break from my job so I wasn't going to stand there to argue over ~20 cents), it actually is. This business is in direct violation of CT laws. I've already reported it to CT Liquor control agency since this amounts to fraud.
