This interaction has convinced me this is the last time we're shopping here. I went in on 10/6 to purchase some Guinness for some recipes we're making. After getting into the store, I walked over to the beer section. Nice neon pink sign above the Guinness, 8 pack of cans for $15.99. I got to the register and the guy scans it and says $18... Now I'm not a math wizard BUT I know that the amount didn't sound right. I looked up and noticed the $15.99 that it was supposed to be rang up at $16.17. I said ummm the sign says $15.99. The cashier responds yea but there's sales tax and bottle deposit. I said I get that BUT the subtotal should say $15.99. He then goes on to this long drawn out story that they do that at the register so the people paying cash don't need to bring 81 cents with them and they don't have to make change for someone that pays them $18 in cash. I paid, and was not even offered a receipt. Had I remembered Connecticut Consumer Commodities Law (CGS Sec. 21a-79) at the time, I'd have asked to speak to the owner. That specific statue is known as the "Get it for free" section: Get it for Free: If an electronic checkout scanner rings up a consumer commodity at a higher price than the posted shelf price, you are entitled to one instance of that item completely free of charge, up to a value of $20. I was argued with, told it was easier for them to not have to make change and the only "fix" was the cashier saying "oh yea I really need to change that sign". While it doesn't seem like a bid deal (and I was on a break from my job so I wasn't going to stand there to argue over ~20 cents), it actually is. This business is in direct violation of CT laws. I've already reported it to CT Liquor control agency since this amounts to fraud. read more

This place has everything! I originally made this my go-to spot for good brews. They have a lot of unique and classic beer options...and cider too. Then I started finding good picks in wine and liquor. If you're looking for something different or hard to find, check Ives Road. They'll probably have it. I've gotten everything from liquor made from marula fruit, unique rosé, or liquor you had on vacation far away and never thought you'd find again. It's almost always busy here which is a great sign! Staff is also helpful and friendly. read more

Came in to find Hard cider. Most places don't carry a large selection, but happy to say Ives does. So if you are look for hats Apple cider, I would highly recommend this place. read more

Decent side-street liquor store. Probably wouldn't have found it on my own if it wasn't mentioned on facebook - they had in stock a local hard cider that no other stores did, and I was glad to stop in and pick up some of the cider and check out the nice beer selection here. read more

More like a 4-minus- You can get everything you need here, including some of the rares... But the prices are a couple of dollars more than BevMax up the street (which also has more selection of more rares). Sore itself is big, nice, bright, and well lit. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about stock availability. read more

Friendly and attentive owner with very good prices. I was looking for a bottle of Scotch (Lagavulin) and he was out of stock. The owner informed me that he will special order most Scotches and then recommended a similar type of Scotch as an alternative. There is a liquor store on just about every corner in Wallingford, but most don't have very competitive prices and the staff working there don't seem to care much about their customers. One of the best liquor stores in the area. It's always clean and well stocked. The service is knowledgeable and friendly. Every time I come in here I find something new I would like to try. The prices are are just right and sometimes they have some really great deals on craft beer. I'm bummed that I'm moving to another town and I won't get to buy my brews here anymore. read more

Love Ive's Road! Best beer, wine, and liquor selections for retail prices!! They were able to give us a great deal on some cases of Prosecco for my Bridal Shower and the quality was excellent! I really like this liquor store. Great selection, fair prices, and some really good specials. I always find a new cheap wine to try, and there's more beer here than a lot of stores in the area. I'll stop here before anywhere else if I have any inkling at all that the beer I'm looking for might be harder to find. Sometimes the specials in the front of the store are priced dollars less than what you'd pay at another store. Staff is really friendly, and I'm pleasantly surprised when I walk in and they have representatives from breweries giving tastings, or when they're doing tastings themselves. read more

Not the biggest liquor store I've been to, but one of the widest selections of spirits and beers in this area. I don't drink wine but my drinking colleagues seem to think they do well in that area, too. Parking is ample. The interior is clean, bright and easy to navigate. Prices are fair and staff is helpful. read more

This is the only liquor store I liked when I lived in CT. It's more like a liquor Target. (lol.) They have an extremely broad selection; the store is OCD clean, they often have specials or gift-with-purchase; and the prices are competitive. So there ya go. read more

Speaking from a beer selection perspective, this place is excellent. There's a nice selection of craft brews ranging from ct to Colorado and probably beyond. In addition, you can mix six packs of craft brews to try different types. The prices are very reasonable and surprisingly lower for certain products that I typically buy. Highly recommend for beer. read more

Not gonna lie, I love this liquor store. I'm not a micro brew beer snob but the wine selections are great and they will special order liquors for you. The service is fast and friendly and during all major holidays, they'll wrap your bottles for you. Seriously, from the cheapest bottle of Dubra vodka to the expensive wine, everything is expertly wrapped. Bonus for the store being easily accessible and always clean. read more

Prices are very fair and they have helpful staff. A little lacking when it comes to the micro brew selection, but I am sure if we asked they would get some more stuff in. Only store in the area that carries my fav Cabernet and at a decent price. Would definitely take the extra 5 minutes down rte 5 to come here instead of CT bev. read more

All of the other reviews are right but it is due to the smart and caring young owner who keeps the most clean retail store around. The staff is really attentive and know how to approach when you are unsure of what to purchase. There is no pressure to buy hign-end but they make sure to find your "match" to what your drinking or dining plans are. I make this home-base for gifts, party planning and weekly needs.
