Overall renting was easy. However when returning the store manager Karin was undeniably the rudest employee I have ever come across. The spine was apparently broken but the whole book was worn out at the very beginning due to it being preowned. I had no recollection of me damaging the spine and was told an employee was "supposed" to be putting a note on it if it was. There was no clear clarification on anything and she even asked if the book was from the store in the first place? Was edging into just paying for the $70 even when both of us didn't know exactly where the damage for the spine came from. Until these words came out of her mouth: "Well do you want ME to pay the $70?" I had it and was downright fuming at this point. I made it clear that there was probably just a misunderstanding and that I did not have $70 to give just because you "assume" I broke a preowned spine of a book. She ended up just adding a note and waiving the fee and I just let her know that associates needed to be more clear and concise with rental procedures before threatening me on undoing the waive because of my attitude. I work in retail management and have never even thought to talk to customers the way she did. It took me raising my voice and her causing distress before we even ended up with the final results. Moral of the story: take pics of your rental books upon buying, make sure associates write necessary notes and make sure to grab associate's names upon renting. read more

Horrible. Not only are the staff here of absolutely no help at all when it comes to either searching for a text book, they are also completely rude. We understand you dislike your job but there's no reason to treat a customer poorly. Unfortunately that is what you get when you have a bunch of teens to young kids working somewhere. And don't ever try coming to find a book around the first week of the semester, its best to either buy for cheaper online ahead of time or stop by before the rush. Books are always completely overpriced and some how manage to update every semester with a new version including 2 pages of new material or rewording in an otherwise unedited book. And the worst part is the text you are looking for is always sold out. At least unlv has rebel books and they sometimes.. sometimes know where to find a text. Csn's store just disappoints me unfortunately. read more

Are texts cheaper on Amazon®? You betcha! And Prime® is free* for students (*activated with .edu email) so one can have them at one's doorstep in no time. Although, it is worth pointing out that texts that are exclusive to CSN can usually only be purchased new on campus bookstores. Keep that in mind: it will mean you will probably patronise these bookstores at some point unless you want to rely on CL or the bulletin boards for purchasing used books. IN any case, CSN Bookstore on the Las Vegas campus is alright. It could be better and perhaps we can make it better with some reforms. I made an order with them online for books necessary for my class for the upcoming semester. However, one week later, I was told that my order was cancelled and gave no other explanation aside from calling the store for further assistance. First time that I call, I get a very soft-spoken boy who was doing everything that he could to dodge my current situation until he ultimately hangs up on me after going silent for 3 minutes. Second time that I call, I was give this terrible answering machine that clearly shows a squeaky girl that kept stopping every five words and continued on mumbling with getting straight to the point of the matter. Third time that I call, I was redirected to the manager who did explain the situation, but regardless of the circumstances, I certainly hope that this is rectified in the future. And not once during these conversations did they apologize to me for what they have done. Next time, in the future, make sure your prices are verified to be at the expected price before you post it on the website for everyone to see and misguide them about such details. That is a surefire way to enrage a lot of customers that'll now have to pay double than they were expecting. Terrible customer service, lousy staff made up entirely of the student body, complete lack of professionalism or courtesy. Rated 1 star because I can't go into the negatives. read more

Super helpful employees! I have yet to see this location busy either which is a plus. I went in for a medical terminology book and a guy came up to me offering help as he saw me wandering around no doubt looking lost. I actually picked up the wrong book at first and didn't realize until I was halfway to my car but I turned around to exchange it. Renting is super easy and definitely saves you some money. I created an account which took a couple minutes max and that's all you need to rent, really. Just make sure to bring your books back on time if you rent because the late fees basically equate to buying the book. read more

I'm not sure of the name of the woman who picked up the phone today on May 15th, 2018, but she was flat out rude. I called to ask to see if there was something I could do to avoid a late fee since i am stuck in traffic and trying to get there by 6pm before the store closes. And what does she do? Laugh. What a pathetic response. All she said was "you can try, that's all I can say." And laughs! I'll laugh when you get fired for providing terrible customer service! Students have jobs and are short on time & try their best to do what they can to accommodate to a due date. when someone just laughs at you, that's very discouraging and annoying. read more

I have been dealing with the west Charleston Bookstore. If you can get your books somewhere else you should. I tried to buy a book 3 times on three different days and the book was not able to be scanned at the register. I was told to order it online and pick it up the next day. The next day I went back and they couldn't find my order. I was told to email them and cancel the order and purchase the book at that time because the book was now able to be scanned. Long story short I bought that book this morning and i just got a confirmation that my order is ready for pickup. The fun continues...... read more

Prices here are what you would expect from a College bookstore- high, but they do have pretty much everything you may need, from meds to pencils and calculators, snacks, and shirts, notebooks and even magazines and used, low priced movies. Books are what they are- expensive. The only issue I have with this place is the fricken lines. Why are we constantly changing the way the lines work here? One semester the line is over there, the next semester it is on the other side of the room, and forced behind the book shelves so anyone just coming in cannot see it. Stop being so Bipolar with the lines! Other than that, it is a pretty decent place, and the return policies are pretty cool. read more

I purchased a book here for ENG 98 brand new. That was a lie, upon further inspection of the book as I reading chapters, i noticed some of the text was highlighted and some of the activities already filled in. I will never use online bookstore again!And will never recommend to anyone!I ordered 2 books online got confirmation email that my books are ready to pick up and of course they weren't ready! They gave me one of the books!I told them that I would like to cancel my other book order,and purchase it in store.They told me that I have to wait until my other book arrives,go back to store pick it up and then I can get my money back!!!At least 5 more people in line had the same problem,they had emails from the store that order is ready to pick up and it wasn't ready!!!They told one guy that he will have to wait a week to get his stuff!!! Karen (the store manager) and her supervisor (not sure what her name is) are the rudest employees. I wish I knew who was above Karen so that I could make a complaint. I wanted to return a book (that I never picked up by the way) for a class I was no longer taking. I called yesterday and spoke with Karen (who was nice at the time) and told me to come by the store before closing so I could get a store credit for the book. When I show up Karen asked me "where is the book?" I told her I had never picked it up and she said " Go get it at the online pickup". Not a "please" or nice tone. Just ordered me to go formally pickup my book. So I try to go pick it up but they cannot find it. Karen gets there to help the poor girl who is trying to find my book and asked me if it was a health book. I said no it was a precalculus book. Karen says "well your mother told me it was a health book so now I dont know what your even talking about. follow me." and storms up to the front counter. I told Karen that "no it's a precalc book I can show you my email". She had no interest in what I was saying. She was convinced I was lying at this point. So she looks up my order and sees that my book was charged to me but never picked up. So now she tells me to wait at the front counter while she tries to prove that I picked it up. So I wait at the front counter for about 30 min. while they search through stacks of paper to prove that the book was picked up. It was never picked up. Karen says " well what do you want an exchange? That's what your mother told me. She said you wanted to exchange the book" I said " no I just want a refund." Karen and her supervisor both yell back at me " WE DON'T DO REFUNDS!!". To which I calmly replied " a store credit will be fine". Karen then tells her front counter check out girl to put my store credit on a gift card and walks away mumbling under her breath. I received my store credit and was on my way after about an hour. No customer should be treated with the amount of disrespect that Karen treated me with. I was nothing but calm with her. She was very rude and belittling. I hope that this review reaches someone who can actually help with customer service at that place. I'm not asking for a 5 star place. I'm just asking for employees at this book store to show a little bit of kindness and respect to their customers because at the end of the day, the students at CSN are the ones that give them a job. read more

First time using this bookstore to rent books and definitely will not be back after this semester. Yes, it is convenient but the staff here are not only rigid, but also not accommodating. I borrowed a book for one of my classes, which happened to be very old, with taped in pages. As I did the end of semester book report, the pages started to fall out. I bring the book to be returned and clearly, this book is OLD even a note in there from a prior staff member stating pages have been taped in, and the kid at the desk tells me he is going to have to Charge me for the book. I explain the situation and he kept stating, "because I waited till the last minute." No, I did not wait till the last minute, it just happened that as I was doing my book report last week, the pages started to trickle out as I was flipping through them. I can't deal with the inflexible and mediocre service I received from this bookstore! Not only are books expensive as is to just RENT them, they want to charge for things like an old book, that you can clearly see is not in good shape to begin with. How ridiculous! Do yourself a favor and go across to the buy, sell, rent bookstore across the street. Their staff are much more accommodating and they usually have all books you need for the semester at lower pricing. read more

I wish I could pick no stars! I show up to pick up my online order on my lunch break and its a 20 minute drive. They said that my order was not ready because I had not received the second confirmation. I would understand if I had just ordered it but it had been a whole day. She said they could not process my order because they would have to print out the paper. Literally the second I arrived back at work (20 minutes later) I receive confirmation that my order was ready! Obviously it would not have been that hard for her to look through the papers sitting on the printer to pull mine out and grab the book. There was no one else in line just me. There were even 3 of the same book that I was getting sitting on the shelf that I could see! Terrible customer service! I am pay an arm and a leg for books and they can't even extend themselves a little bit. read more
