The lady that took the needle out after I donated, I believe her name was Divia, Really needed to change her gloves, the palms of them were brown, and they were wet, I think she had just been washing her gloves. This is unacceptable and extremely unsanitary. Besides this, though I have had good experiences, Brian Leer, one of the phlebotomist, is amazing. he's always friendly, he does a very good job. Probably the last thing I would like to mention is the conversation of the staff and the content on the TV is straight up inappropriate most the time. I don't watch TV anyways, but there's six of them and I can't help seeing it sometimes and the last time I was there, they literally had naked women on the TV for most of the time I was there. If you want to watch pornography, that is your prerogative, but I'm coming to your establishment to do business, I don't want it in my face the whole time. I don't think any of this is unreasonable to mention and I hope someone in authority can correct these issues this place has plenty of potential, but there are some things that need to be addressed.

Like they aren't making enough selling our "liquid gold"! Now the pay goes keeping your iron level just perfect to cheat is even more...not too high, not too low. They're so predatory they really need to be regulated by the state.

I visited DeGowin for the first time this week to donate whole blood. Great experience from…read morebeginning to end. The center is located in the General Hospital on Level 2 near Elevator B. You'll want to park in Ramp 2 and it is a bit of a walk. Clean facility. Amazing staff (shout out to Brian and RN, Neil). Plenty of snacks for pre and post donation. I've donated elsewhere, so I knew what to expect. If you're new to donating, staff does a great job of explaining the process. The center accepts walk-in appointments, but prefers that you schedule in advance. The online scheduling system is pretty easy to use and you'll receive an email reminder about your visit. If you need some incentive to donate, they have a rewards program. You can redeem points for prizes ('Let's TACObout donating' t-shirt here I come!) or you can donate your points back to a special fund at the hospital. These contributions go toward items for families with longer hospital stays - meal vouchers, etc. Also, free parking. Stop by the front desk before you leave to get some redemption codes. I had no problem redeeming mine, and you may need 2 (to cover 2 hours). Donating only takes an hour of your time and saves up to 3 lives. Please consider it!
