Went there to donate plasma.The staff and the nurses are pretty nice, and they take good care of people, but you have to try and get there early in the morning, because there is usually a long line of people waiting to get checked in. Overall experience was pretty good. read more

Too many machines "out of service" so wait time incredibly long. How can so many machines be down at once?

Raced over on a Sat. afternoon. Told to get there by 4 p.m. Got turned away since I was a new patient. Pretty furious.

I started donating here 3 weeks ago because my boyfriend had been here before and had no problems. We are short on cash and behind on bills and did not want to go the pawn route so decided to try donating. Their program is $100 for the first 5 visits, 2x per week and in the paperwork it states you can make up to $700 within a months time as a first time donor. They put the money on a prepaid debit card that charges at least $3 every time you make a transaction. You have to go to an ATM and withdraw money off and select "checking" or it will decline the transaction. It states in the paperwork you can use to pay bills but the transaction will be declined unless you withdraw money from an atm and you cant get all the money because you have to allow for the transaction fee and the atm i used at the walmart only lets you do increments of $20 so you are screwed out of about $10 of the donation payment. The screening process for a new donor is tedious. You have to watch a 20 min video and they forgot i was waiting to watch it for about 30 min. They also gave me a really hard time about proving my mailing address which i dont understand because i saw homeless people donating. I had to bring in a letter that was less than 60 days old and i pulled out voter regrestration mail i had and the clerk refused to accept it. The whole process they managed to drag out for two hours with asking wierd questions like "were you born identifying as a man and have you had sex with a man anally in the past four months"? When i am clearly a female. Its like they were purposely dragging it out purposely hoping id give up and leave. By the time i finally got to the point where they determined i was eligible my boyfriend who donated also was already done with his donation. So the first donation was incident free besides the fact that it took alittle longer to extract the plasma from my blood, about 1 hour and 15 min. Then you have to wait at least a day before you can donate which is understandable. The second donation went even better. The extraction process went even quicker. I was done in about 45 min. Its the 3rd donation experience that i am writing this review about. First i was referred to the doctor on duty about a bruise on my arm from when i donated the first time, he started going on about how donating plasma is so noble, that you are saving lives and asked why i decided to donate. I told him i had to be honest, i was there because of the money they were going to pay me. The $100. He seemed offended but i thought nothing of it. He escorted me to the donation area and the phlebotomist that hooked me up to the machine was horrible. She seemed new and obviously missed my vein when she tried to insert the needle. I had a visible vein but she had trouble. When she began the machine it was really loud and I asked if it was supposed to be that loud. She just shrugged and left the area. I struggled thru out the time and my arm turned purple and they seemed reluctant to even check on me. Several phlebs tried to readjust the needle. Little to no plasma got collected. While I was there donors around me that had arrived after me completed their donations and left. The last time the needle got adjusted the phleb jabbed it in really hard and asked if it hurt. Itold her it did so she said they would have to end the donation. They had to get the first girl who had initiated the donation to inform me they were stopping and reluctantly went to get the doctor on duty. She was not even going to but the others working told her she had to. He came out and acted really standoff ish and asked if I was feeling sick. The machine had removed a bunch of blood from me and they told me they could not return it. I told him I was feeling kind of light headed and all he said was "oh sorry, this happens sometimes". The girl had missed my vein and had not set up the machine properly. But the doctor asked what happened and when I told him the needle was not in my vein, the girl chimed in and said that could not have been the reason that it was the machine not working properly. So I asked her why the needle was readjusted 5 times then if the needle was not in my vein. Nobody seemed to care. The doctor told me to try and drink some water. That was it. I was already apprehensive about getting this done after this horrible experience I WILL NEVER DONATE PLASMA AGAIN. not only can i not donate again for 56 days i got f$#ked out of the money from the next 2 donations. Because it said that the 5 donations had to be done within 30 days to get the $100 for each one. After that, they only pay $40 and $50 respectively. I was counting on that money to pay some bills. I have good veins, am completely healthy, yet it's like they had something against me and purposely messed this up for me. I've read other reviews on here than mention the feeling of bias so I don't feel like I am off-base. Incompetence and ignorance. Dont go here.​ read more

they are slow with no sense of urgency and have conversation amongs selfs rather than helping donors

So if they don't tighten you bandages and you bleed out I been told by there manager That there more concern is the other patient than the patient that bleeding That you can bleed to death it not there business and that you have to deal with it or bleed out and die than be fast and rewrapped read more

I have not always had the greatest experiences, but I have gotten to know the staff and they really care about what the work they are doing and the people who come to donate. Kiran is a great phlebotomist, she has a great attitude and pays attention to detail

I started donating in December 2023 as a way to earn some extra money and my experience has been nothing but positive. I had a reaction during my third donation, but the staff was quick to respond and I felt completely safe with them. The phlebotomists are very well trained and they take cleanliness seriously. Every staff member I have interacted with has changed gloves when needed. I would highly recommend choosing this location (although it would be very helpful if CSL added a Gig Harbor/Kitsap location for those of us who have to pay a bridge toll and make a 40+ minute trip every time). read more

I have been a CSL donor for more than a year. I don't get there as often as I should, but I really like the place and everyone has always been great. Today I went in and I overheard the person who was supposed to start my donation complain that she didn't want to help me. Her name was Brook. She said that she hated "sticking white girls." I was so upset that I didn't know what to say! I have never seen her there before, but she said it to another staff member, a girl who has always been nice to me. They both giggled and then asked another person to come start me. I almost cried! It was surreal! I won't go back. I have never had an encounter that focused on my race. It was awful. i give 5 stars for the women who work there:) Theres a cocky, pretty boy, deeper complexioned man who turns my boyfriend away everytime, personally , having some care giving experience, I think he freeifufu purposely sabotage ls people from donating. When he pricks your finger he says "cotton ball" as if i was supposed to understand that meant to put the cotton ball snd pressure against the prick mark. hes not meant to work with people and its quite obvious. before and after my boyfriend 6 people were turned away from his station. NOW in the donation area theres a slender man with dark hair and glasses and unless you dont mind your veins feeling like gell and your machine not working and having to be pocked all over bya capable nurse just ask for someone else to do it. Weve mingled with a few other donors and they all tefuse to be pocked by him. hope this helps! plasma is a big deal and helps many people and puts a lil chunk of change in your pockets too! read more

I used to donate here a few years ago, and it was fine, but the staff has really gone downhill. The technicians do not seem to be well trained in locating veins and they don't adhere to proper procedure. They will reposition the needle constantly until you're bruised. I've been giving plasma for most of my adult life, and I've never encountered the issues I've had until this center. Some of the staff is also really unprofessional and rude for no reason. Needless to say, their "bedside manner" is lacking. I would suggest choosing a different donation center. read more

Unimpressed. The techs DO NOT change their gloves between patients. Two employees I spoke with at the facility told me that this is common practice for them unless they come in contact with blood. This is not ok! That is not standard precaution, and in my opinion, it is malpractice. In the future I will be asking the tech to change their gloves when they touch me, but I will also be pressing the issue further, as this seems totally unacceptable to me as a person who works in healthcare. If gloves aren't coming off, that means hand hygiene isn't happening, which is a fundamental of healthcare practice. read more

Ur staff member who goes by Ashley is very rude and unprofessional. She almost gives off "bully in highschool" vibes .. I usually go to the kent one but decided to try this location cause I was visiting my mom (who also donates there ) and immediately she gives me a dirty look as a I walk in . Doesn't even check my pulse or anything just says "u smell like cat pee I'm not helping u " I don't own any animals so that was very insulting. I go on to tell her that and than she asks me if I'd be willing to drug test real quick ?. I complained a few other times but nothing happens all I get is targeted by her staff that are her friends . Got so bad she resorted to deferring my mom for it to who also doesn't own any animals.. like u guys have homelss people who smell like bo and hot garbage with dirt plastered on them and y'all let them donate .. never going to this location again unless she's fired. read more

I was really let down when a new fllabotumus that was really nervous & that was in training still was allowed her to hook my arm BUT she was allowed to carry on and hook me up I felt discomfort and had never had the needle shoved that far in my arm they backed out a bit I was still feeling a lol discomfort but did not want to be complaining cuz I Need the extra income ( they know this & some hold that over our heads there ) so a day pass's and I go back in to donate and was getting my vitals when the gal doing my vitals did the arm check and that's when I and the gal noticed at the same time a dark purple mark about a quarter inch long at the spot where the needle was put in and I was deferred until it went away by the nurse that day I said can we do my other arm she said we cannot until arm is clear of purpleness !!! So I ran out of gas that day anyways moving forward I come back and can't log in they had locked me out to see nurse I go in and tell her what happened and told her how the girl had expressed how nervous she waa when she messed up my arm she said it happens real snotty like and said you don't have to donate if your unhappy with the service & I said look I'm not hear to be patronized and she said here I'll go ahead and cancell you for the day and you can go home and decide if I want to donate tomorrow I was really upset of how I was treated. By her like I was but a spec of sand on a long Beach I left on low fuel very upset I mean I've seen people get huge purple hemotobas and they just wrap it in ice and hook the other arm up!!! I had been donating there for a few years in total I was very let down how she made me feel like a piece of garbage !!...its Been a few months I struggle without that extra income but it's been 3 months and cuz of my pride I have not been able to return !! In the year I've been going here, I've only seen someone change gloves once, when they ripped. I've seen techs adjust someone's needle then come to stick me with blood on their glove. They also routinely scrub my inner arm with iodine and then touch the sterile spot to find my vein, introducing bacteria again. I can deal with long lines or subpar customer service but the safety stuff needs to be addressed immediately. The last time I came in I ended up with phlebitis from a poor needle insertion. I ended up with a superficial blood clot in my forearm and possible bacteria--my doc fixed me up and ran Hepatitis/HIV tests as a precaution. Fortunately I'm fine now but I'll never donate here again. read more

I am getting married next summer and thought donating plasma would be a good way to earn and save the money we need. My sole goal today, my day off, was to make my first donation, and after making the 30 minute drive, I was very disappointed and frustrated to be told during the screening process that I can't donate because my King County zip code (98051) isn't on the list. The staff was great and apologetic (which is why I gave 3 stars) and told me to call later today to see if the list has been updated. I feel too that I may not now be able to make 8 donations this month and not qualify for the $80 bonus. I will keep trying though. I will also be wanting to donate at the Kent facility and hope I don't have this problem again. read more

The last time I donated at the Federal Way Donation Center was 9/24/15. It was the most horrible experience I have EVER experienced! It was a very busy day as usual and it took forever to get back to the donor area. Then, I waited even longer to get set up. What I didn't expect, was when I had a problem, there was no one to come to my aide. (It seems they were more interested in setting up for the next business day.) I was in the last cycle on the machine and it started beeping. I kept looking for someone to come help me, then when I got someone's attention it took them at least 5min to get to me. When she finally came to my aide, I was feeling very warm and nauseous. All she could offer me was water- Seriously???? No ginger ail, sprite, saltine crackers???? Finally, someone in charge came by because she couldn't get the machine to work, and informed me they would not be able to give me my blood back and I would not be able to donate for awhile. Needless to say, I had to call someone to come drive me home. I have not been able to come back since then. It worries me that you people are not equipped to handle serious situations nor did you have anyone monitoring the patients/machines which could have prevented this to happen. If you wonder why you have such a high turnover of clients, that might be a really good reason. It seems to me, that if you can't run a facility safely instead on focusing on the "numbers", you shouldn't be allowed to run it at all. read more

I am very unimpressed with the service they provide here. I expected the first donation to take 2-3 hours, as it takes time to go through all of the health history, etc. However, I came in for my second donation today, and the was given the runaround. I was told at check in I did not complete my first donation which I did and was compensated for it. As the employees tried to figure out what the problem was there were 4-5 of them all talking about the issue in front of me including a manager of some kind without keeping me in the loop, and I kept getting redirected to a different person or computer. I work as an RN in the healthcare field and know the importance of keeping patients in the loop when communicating about issues. I kept asking "what's going on?" And everyone kept giving vague answers and saying "I don't know". The professionalism of how this was handled was an all time low in my eyes. I finally had to go see the nurse for another physical exam which I had two days prior. I was compensated $5 for my extra time (1.5 hours at this point) just waiting to actually donate. As a company, CSL should be aware their donors are what keep their doors open, treating them with a little more respect and handling situations that are at their fault should be cared for in a timely manner, and with much more professionalism. For being a company that blasts posters all over their facility saying "we do things differently and are innovative" and "we are passionate about meeting the needs of our customers" they are not congruent with their advertising. Thankfully I am here to help save lives of those who need the plasma, however, I am not pleased with the hoops they make you jump through. read more

I love most of the staff, they are professional and kind. My only complaint is the choice of movies. Not everyone wants to be subjected to fowl launguage and nudity. When I started going they told me that they didn't play rated R movies, that's clearly not true. I may have to find someplace else to donate. read more

Waited here for 3 hours only to have to go home because the nurse had her car broken into (found out later that this happened to 3 others that work there) and said she wasn't coming back once the police got there so anyone waiting to see her for the physical was screwed and was compensated for 5 whole dollars for the inconvenience. Came back next day, after calling to make sure nurse was in that day, and had to wait another 2 hours to see the nurse, (she is amazing by the way, different one then the day before. forgot her name but pretty Asian girl) only after bitching to the manager that I had to wait yet again for over an hour at that point. (Didn't care for her but later saw her on the floor helping out and I like that so maybe she's ok) I was told the day before that I would get in a little quicker because of the emergency the day before but that wouldn't have been the case had I not said something. I would give it a 3 or 4 star only because the staff is overall pretty awesome and seem to handle cranky people like me pretty good. But seriously, Time is money everyday of the week! read more

If I could give this ace 0 stars I would! Let me start with this if you are in a health care field your medical provider would follow OSHAS state requirements which of course includes changing gloves, hand sanitizing, and proper infection control, I've been here twice already not one employee (front/back) changed gloves or then hand washed or sanitized. I am shocked at the many risks that they may cause! I was getting my blood drawn and one of the employees dropped the whole container of plasma to the filthy ground luckily it didn't crack open, and picked it back up with her gloved hands, she just picked up and looked at me and said you didn't see anything (LOL), she didn't bother to change them , she decided to take the 17gauge out of the patient that was in front of me. I'm surprised the health department hasn't came or OSHA, I am seriously considering contacting these people before someone ends up with a transferee disease. read more
