DISGUSTING TREATMENT. Medical negligence, broken equipment, and staff harassing donors. I am absolutely sick to my stomach and infuriated by this location. I have been a loyal donor here since December and it was genuinely my favorite thing to do. This week, the sheer technical incompetence, broken equipment, and toxic management turned it into the worst, most humiliating experience of my life. I left this center crying in my car. On Wednesday, an associate named Jimena deferred me over an iron reading. I spent 24 hours correcting my nutrition, only to return on Thursday and get deferred again because an unbalanced, poorly calibrated center scale claimed I magically lost 6 pounds overnight--a total equipment error, proven by the fact that the very next morning I "gained" all 6 pounds back on a different scale when I successfully donated. Manager Marissa handled this with outright hostility, and she explicitly lied to me, stating that I may never be able to come back and donate again--intentionally twisting a temporary equipment issue into a permanent lifetime ban to scare me. She then maliciously weaponized the digital notes system to lock my account on Friday over my footwear (platform shoes) just to force a supervisor review right before my work shift. They forced me to sit waiting in the hallway like a child, only for them to completely clear the flag and sit behind the counter without ever bothering to step out and tell me. I was left stranded waiting until I finally got fed up, approached the counter myself, and asked what was happening, only to be dismissively told they had already resolved it minutes prior without telling me. Once cleared of her petty trap, I successfully donated on Friday with an incredible 46% iron level. Today (Sunday), I came back to finish my second donation, and Jimena screened my iron at an impossible 37%. A 9-point drop in 48 hours is medically impossible. My intuition was 100% right: Jimena directly violated clinical protocol by failing to wipe away the very first drop of blood from the prick, completely diluting my sample with tissue fluid. Looking back, she likely made this exact same training error on Wednesday. When I begged for a retake due to this obvious mistake, a supervisor named Sean coldly refused, dismissed my tears, and lectured me about his staff being "perfectly capable." To make matters worse, multiple employees here have continuously crossed boundaries by repeatedly demanding my Instagram and phone number after I have explicitly told them NO. This center is a complete circus. You have untrained staff violating medical protocols, broken uncalibrated scales, power-tripping managers threatening permanent bans over water weight, and staff actively harassing female donors for social media. Upper corporate management needs to step in immediately and clean house. read more

Please know if I could've given zero stars I would have, this place does not deserve one star let alone a half a star ! First and foremost, I have been donating at the Tukwila location for 2 years plus. The only time I've ever had an issue was with one particular young lady not wanting to name names in this review she has a Yoda on her visor and her first 3 letters of her first name is GEN. Yesterday I went to donate and unfortunately I had her as my phlebotomist! The pain in my R arm was substantial! I have been in Nursing since 1996 I knew she had infiltrated my vein! I spoke to a young man and he immediately called her over, she wanted to reinsert the needle I said NO! Knowing full well the last time she did this I had tremendous pain a lot of bleeding, and the same thing happened with infiltration of my vein, she had reinserted and tried the L arm which I told her did not work well the bruising and pain was tremendous! This time I took a stand for myself! She then called a very young and unexperienced nurse to standby and they both proceeded to what amounted to gaslighting me, stating " If can't tolerate the pain, then I shouldn't be donating to begin with, and then went on to inform them that I had been donating for 2+ years at this point I was very frustrated! They were both close proximity unnecessarily so! Barely taking a step back when I was getting up from the procedure table. The very young and inexperienced nurse (I say this because I've been donating there for 2+ years and she is brand new) informing me about the procedure telling me I have to have two good veins, I knew this to be true however they did not even bother to check for access of my L arm using a Doppler! The condescending tone of both of them was very very off-putting!! here I am donating plasma to help mostly oncology patients with over 50 donations already and they're treating me like something on the bottom of their shoe! Needless to say this is the last time I will ever attempt to donate plasma at BioLife plasma in Tukwila. There are other donation places, please please anyone thinking about donating there. Please be careful you're not listening to when you complain and they like gang up on you and make you feel like you're in the wrong for saying anything. I have a right to advocate for my healthcare and I will every time this place in a word stinks.! read more

Individual staff are very nice but it is painfully obvious they intentionally understaff the clinic to save money. This means you'll spend most of your time here waiting in line - not donating - and when you *are* finally seated you'll notice the overwhelmed tech moving at a frantic pace to keep up. This hardly inspires confidence that you are being carefully or safely attended to. Then again, perhaps they're counting on the fact someone desperate enough to be donating plasma doesn't assign much value on their time or safety. Kinda gross. read more

The waits are insane most of the time and if you complain about that at all (unless you're belligerent which I wasn't ) they'll threaten to defer you for being rude. You know what? Maybe it's because you treat your employees so poorly? Short staffed, particularly in The AM, 2 people screening often and seemingly a high turnover (don't see too many who seem to stay for more than a few months). Probably pathetic starting pay doesn't help with getting more workers which means better customer service and less waiting times. Sending a positive review because I don't believe enough people take the time to send shoutouts vs complaining. I noticed on the Yelp reviews for this location there wasn't many and I truly believe people aren't praised enough about how well they are doing! I've been donating at the Tukwila location since February 2024. I used to donate in college years ago at a different company. I randomly saw an ad on social media and decided I wanted to check it out. I'm a busy working mom of 2 toddlers so I wasn't sure if this would be a good fit for me. I had consistently donated blood before kids and covid and definitely wanted to give back again. The incentive was a great perk as well. And since I am a mom, I do enjoy the 2 hours of sitting back and relaxing each week!! The initial appointment did end up being 2.5 hours but honestly it wasn't a big deal. I had a great long convo with the nurse too. I've worked my way through the new donor promo and ended up referring my husband to donate as well. My appointments usually take about 1 hour. The location is great, clean and roomy. At the time I started they were understaffed but in the process of training new hires. The appointments were difficult to schedule until they were better staffed and now I have no problem booking my appointments on the app. I have had a great experience in all my appointments and really have enjoy the staff and getting to know them. They are diverse and friendly. I don't know everyone's name but some of the ones I want to call out are Amaya, Reanna, Nation, Keelan, Marissa, Kimberly, Rayna and Taylor. They deserve recognition! They seem to do well working together and have fun. A couple cons to note. The location does have the 5 minute +/- before time slot posted inside but the email states 10 minutes, that should be updated. You're not able to get ahold of them via the phone. My biggest pet peeve is the way scheduling works. You're able to donate twice a week, with one day in between but it's not any day in the week as it's based on your days the previous week. I don't understand why you can't just donate anytime in the week. Sometimes it makes it difficult to donate if you aren't able to come in certain days. Also they're closed Sunday and Monday, which is fine but again harder with the strict guidelines for donating. And I think the reward system could be better or just opt out and give higher donation compensation. Overall I highly recommend and thankful for you guys! read more

I started donating plasma recently and it's been going pretty well. For my first donation I didn't know what to expect so I was taken aback by the effect of the fluids coming back to me. I feel slightly nauseous after every donation but I drink or eat some chocolate and I'm good! Staff has been friendly and personable each time and the facility is clean. I am a Disabled Veteran. Decided to try donating on a whim, only to be told that PTSD was a disqualifying condition, even though I never required treatment or medication for it, and have been fine with it for 15 years. My mistake for admitting it voluntarily on the questionnaire. Was told I could be qualified if a Mental Health Professional was willing to attest that I could sit for an hour in a noisy room without freaking out... which was insulting, but I made an appointment and got a LMHP to attest to that, at personal expense. When I returned the paperwork, I was told that wasn't good enough, and a proscribing physician needed to attest to it, which was not what I was originally told. Since I'm not under medical care for this condition, and not taking any meds for it, they said the only way I could donate was if I took the time and expense to set an appointment with a psychiatrist to get them to attest that I either didn't have PTSD, or that it was controlled under their care... which is a lot of time, and expense to undergo just to donate. I ended up giving up on the whole process. It really feels like, in the name of Corporate CYA they're actively discriminating against Vets. Thank god my job, or the city bus, doesn't force me to get a doctor's note that I'm safe to be around in public. read more

Charley was amazing and very entertaining and understanding she is always sweet and has a smile on her face no matter what's thrown at her. I love the atmosphere of the employees they're nice and very knowledgeable and treat one another kindly. I wish I had a I save life's shirt or I donate plasma shirt cause people question the marks lol. please order me a shirt and the rest of the diners it should be a promotion for us lol . this place is not clean, the staff are rude their and they make you wait 4 hours to get your blood drawn! even after I waited to get seen I did all my test and requirements and because I stepped outside to get some air i came back in and was told I couldnt get seen cause I went outside like don't even go here they are ridiculous and management is no help. read more

After filling out paper and doing a physical before your first donation, you can just forget about trying to use the app to make your next donation, after your physical and first donation. The app just does not work. It only lets you make an appointment as if it's your first time and a physical is required. After my first donation I tried to schedule another and the app wouldn't allow it. I called and they don't answer or return phone calls. I emailed their contact info on app and haven't heard a word. I did get a hold of someone at some point and they said their system is "down" or something like that. For almost 2 weeks now. I finally drove down there and made an appt for today but couldn't go and of course couldn't do it on the app and so I left a message. Basically I feel like they are incompetent and low staffing and can't keep up. They want your info and a physical but apparently aren't real concerned if you can't set up another appointment on their app, which isn't much of one imo. Not to mention they send dozens of junk emails a week, but they can't respond to you. I'm disgusted with them and won't be going back. Too bad- but don't waste your time. read more

It definitely took patience to get my first donation, and a couple hiccups. Some diagnosis need more verification and follow-up. But whenever there was an extreme weird delay and I complained they gave me a come back bonus $$$. The people are really great and friendly. I haven't learned all their names yet, darn-it. Charlie is fun... Very diverse group. More women than men. Once you are in the system and cleared it is speedy (60 minutes in total). During the day is generally slower than evening, and you do have to schedule 3 weeks ahead of time. So of that first chunk of money it is a challenge to get 8 appts scheduled for 2 months. The clients seem to have pretty good attitudes as well. I'm weird, but it is kind of addictive. Easy money if you don't mind needles and have a car. Also a hint. Take a calcium supplement (the anti-clotting agent can deplete calcium and you can have a reaction) staff are quick to help if you feel weirdness. They check Red Blood Cell count, Iron, Albumin (protein) Blood pressure, Pulse, temperature, weight every time. read more

The staff make it well known they care nothing for your presence and do not want you donating plasma when they act in a passive aggressive manner. For instance, one of the nurses flagged my donor profile which locked the system and prevented plasma donation. No one gave any reason for doing this when asked. The staff becomes very surly when anyone that asks too many questions about their personal information. read more

The website does not list or is not specific enough in several areas about what will disqualify you as a donor. Wasted 5 hours in transportation and time in clinic. The handicap doors have the trigger button so far away from the door that it is useless. Staff was nice enough. Everything else was a fail. read more

I have been donating here for the last 3 months but yesterday on the drive home, my sleeve of my coat became SOAKED in blood. I don't know what the newbie did wrong but it was very bad. I called and left them a message that I was extremely concerned. They flatly don't care and will NEVER acknowledge they did something wrong. No call back at all. these boneheads wasted 10 hours of my valuable time. i am disabled and need to ride public transportation to get around. so one day after getting a fancy email welcoming me aboard and confirming my appointment, i rode two hours to get there. they didnt have any record of my appointment. i was told they would try to fit me in. i was also told (first time this news raised its ugly head) that i could expect to be there 2.5 to 3 hours. that, based on the speed at which the crowd was moving, would have caused me to miss my ride and i would have been stuck in tukwila for god knows how long (possibly overnight) (in a wheelchair). the next day, having confirmed that this time they had a record of my appointment, i showed up on time only to discover an hour and a half into the process, that being a type 2 insulin dependent diabetic and taking certain meds for symptoms of congestive heart failure both disqualified me as a donor. these idiots have paragraph after paragraph, page after page, of preexisting conditions that "might" disqualify one. not one of them says anything except you "might" not be disqualified". and yet i was told that i was forever disqualified by my medications. why couldnt they be honest and put in two short sentences saying that these specific meds resulted in my wasting two full days ? and why no note anywhere citing the length of the (long) process? read more

This company should not be caring for people and their lives. I received a phone call at 9:24am a message was left saying that I need to call them back. I got that message about an hour later and called them 3 times and left a message with no return phone call. Now they are closed until Tuesday so I have to wait until Tuesday (a day before my birthday) to find out what is wrong with my blood. BAD BUSINESS!!! That is so wrong!!!!! I have donated now 9 times and have always had a great experience. The staff is so nice, and the space is always clean. I have seen a few people have poor reactions to the process of donating plasma but all of that is gone over before donating and we know the risks. In the few situations I have witnessed, the staff is very responsive. I also personally have never been left with a bruise on my arm, they have handled the needle well. read more

went in here as a new donor i'm also scared of needles but needed some extra money in my pocket from their compensation, told the person to take it easy because i'm scared so he proceeds to put the needle in my arm instantly starts readjusting it i then freak out and my body is instantly trembling i told him it hurts when he then replied "i know but i have to move it " so he then moves it and as he does it feels as if my vein is exploding i start crying and he takes the needle out and asks if i can handle it enough to put the needle back in i tell him no when he says that's okay he understands and i could just leave so i wasted 3 in a half hours just to get no compensation at all and a nice sized bruise on my arm! terrible place would not recommend. read more

I would highly recommend you avoid donating plasma at Biolife of Tukwilla.  They are butchers. I've attached pics of what they've done to my wife's arms as well as mine. This isn't just a once in a while issue. Probably 75% of the times we donated, we ended up with ugly marks, bruises or hematomas. One of their phlebotomists, Noah is extremely bad. The pics showing damage done to my wife was caused by him. It wasn't the first time he had done this to her, but it was the last. She refuses to ever donate again because of it. When the center called her to find out why she hadn't returned, she told the everything. Their response? "I understand, makes sense." WTH response is that from a medical business? I've had issues of Noah doing the same to me. Multiple times Noah has stabbed the needle into my vein and then through the other side, leaving me with swollen areas around the site or pretty bad hematomas. I voiced my concerns several times and it basically fell on deaf ears. The last time I complained, they said I could always request a floor supervisor to place the needle. That worked once. After that, they claimed one wasn't available. Finally, the last time, another phlebotomist was working on me. My vein wasn't allowing the blood back into my arm, so as my luck would have it, Noah took over. He started pushing the needle in at a really weird angles, last one going in at a good 30, again causing damage to my vein. He took so long messing around that he claimed my blood coagulated and couldn't be returned. Again, I was left with a very swollen and sore arm and unable to donate for 2 months. At this point, 10 days later, I still have bruising and soreness. I don't believe this was an accident. I honestly believe it was a malicious act in revenge for my wife's and my complaints. My main concern is with all the trauma to my veins,  what will happen to my circulation as I age with all the resulting scar tissue? For about $500 a month, is it really worth destroying your veins? Today, I decided it was not. Today I am filing a complaint with the BBB and after Christmas, I will be filing a complaint with the Federal Food and Drug Administration. I want my veins in both arms examined via an MRV (Magnetic Resonance Venography) for permanent damage. The findings from that will determine my next move. read more

You can forget any kind of compensation if you get turned a way to not qualifying to donate for that day. I've lost over $330 for some bs excuses. Stay away from Biolife tukwila. The wait times for each step of the process are insane. They're letting in way more donors than they can accommodate in a decent amount of time. Today was the last time I will ever walk into this place. After finally getting to taking my vitals more than an hour after my appointment time and letting MULTIPLE new donors that walked in way after me go in front of me, my heart rate was too elevated to donate because I was so irritated. The line to wait in after vitals hadn't moved in 45 minutes and had 15 people in it, so I wouldn't have gotten to a chair for over another hour. When I asked the employee who started my vitals why they're letting in more donors than they can accommodate, he shrugged and said "because we need to make money". Then he and one of his coworkers mumbled something to each other and laughed. The floor is always covered in garbage. The only positive is that I noticed that now at least they're putting the used tubes with human blood in them into hazardous waste instead of in the regular garbage cans No wonder the BBB won't accredit them read more

This place was terrible. I made a first time donor appointment for 2 pm on a Wednesday. I got there at 2, waited for an entire hour before I started to get processed, and then was told I would be there for another 2 hours if not more (for a total of 3 hours of waiting in line for each part of the process). I started to go through the process, but gave up after realizing I may not get out of there for an entire 4 hours. What a waste of time. They are SEVERELY UNDERSTAFFED, their website makes it sound like appointment times will be honored, (why even make appointments when you can't service the appointments you DO make because you don't have enough staff???), and they make the process way too long. read more

Definitely avoid coming here. I recently visited and nothing was resolved after talking to management about my issue. They turned me away because of me being too warm in temperature due to my heated jacket. They wouldn't retake my temperature after taking it off and letting my body cool down. Drove 1 hour to get here just to be refused and now I lost out on $150 for the donation. Waste of my time and gas. Also unprofessional staff. The woman who took my weight said my weight out loud. Never have I heard a staff member say someone's weight out loud during the times I've been here. That's not okay as it's a fully filled room of people that do not need to know that personal info. Will not be coming back, especially after talking to management & they said I can still come back to donate for money. Why would I when I missed out on the money owed last time? They compensate you for time yet my time wasn't compensated. Doesn't help me get back the time and money/gas I lost. Also my first donation took 3 hours not including driving time. read more

This Biolife has had some growing pains. I have been donating since it opened. They were victoms of their own suiccess. The powers that be did not estimate how many people would want to participate. So, in the beginning yes the wait for the first donation for me was 5 hours. At the beginning they were not holding people to their appointment times and letting walk ins. For the last 2 weeks they are holding people to their appointments. If you are more than 5 minutes early you have to wait. Since they have started holding people to their times, the wait lines have drastically decreased. For the last 2 weeks I have been in and out in under an hour. ALL of the team are FANTASTIC- friendly, courtious, up beat. These people work their buns off. They all are friendly if you show them respect and kindness. Awesome job at getting the wait times down and making donation giving a pleasant experience. read more
