I spent two weeks at Canterbury House rehabilitating after a hospital stay. The first day was…read morerough. It may have been because my ride was late, but no one met me when I arrived that first night. I really had no idea what to do. They had just shampooed the carpets and the stench was horrendous! My wife brought an air freshener for the room. It wasn't so bad after that and I may have become desensitized, but they need to do something about the smell after cleaning the carpet. It was done in my room a couple of times because of my roommate's incontinence. Next, no one bothered to ask what I might want for dinner. I was brought a big pile of flavorless mac & cheese and mushy peas...I had my wife bring me outside food. For the first three days, I had no choice in what food I had. Finally, someone came in and took my menu preferences for the next week. Overall, my stay was uneven. The OT & PT staff, Ng, Joe, and Josh were excellent. However, they need perhaps one more person to cover when one of them takes a PTO day. That cost me one PT session. They were all extremely personable and listened to my needs but were also encouraging and skilled in their jobs. The non-care staff was also excellent. A special call out to MaKenna and Sabrina. They were both extremely responsive and knew their stuff. Sabrina well beyond her job description to help me on more than one occasion. She was a ball of energy! The skilled nursing staff were good at best, most were pleasant, but their care ranged from good to poor. Most seemed to have reasonable skills, some needed work. Most were responsive, but many were not. Long waits for pain meds were not uncommon. The unskilled care staff has a few standouts such as Peter, but for the most part, this was the weakest point of my experience. Most had English as a second language or at least heavily accented English. Communication was very hard. One of them had no business being there. Fortunately, she seemed to work weekends only. She made it obvious that she literally didn't understand basic human anatomy. Once I got a menu, the food ranged from poor to good. It was all very bland with smaller than expected portions. Vegetables were cooked to death. Fruit was good. Beverage options were poor. Other serious problems I had were related to my being fat. The first bariatric bed was barely wide enough. I was there for almost a week when I had my Care Conference with key staff to assess my progress and plan for my future care. Bob the director, sat in which was not the norm. He offered a wider bed, and I had one the next day. In fact, everything I needed that he offered was handled quickly. If he hadn't chosen to sit in on that meeting my entire stay would have been worse. Why didn't anyone before him offer me a wider bed? It made such a difference. The only sturdy chair without arms was an upholstered chair in the library. They expected that fat patients would use their wheelchair to sit. That is not a comfortable option. And until I was ambulatory enough to get out of the chair on my own, it was no option. If you have a roommate, the rooms are very small so it's hard to move stuff around. Getting a bariatric wheelchair behind the table to eat dinner while watching TV was almost impossible. It sounds like a small thing, but it means a lot when you're stuck in a room for most of the day. There didn't seem to be air conditioning in the room and the window only opened two inches. It was over 80 degrees some of the days I was there. Someone on staff found me a fan which was taken away a few days later as it turned out that it belonged to another patient. I had to have my wife bring a couple fans from home. There were other oddities and annoyances and a few pleasant surprises. Overall, the place was well maintained and clean. If I had to go there again, I would. This is the only care facility I've been to and I'm sure some places are better and some are worse. But I'd know how to navigate this place to better have my needs met early on.

If I could leave a no star then I would because I have been treated like shit and disrespected but…read morea ton of the staff and nurses here and I am sick of this treatment that I have received as a patient.

I'm giving this facility two stars, and honestly that's being generous. The only reason it's not…read moreone star is because there are a handful of staff members who truly deserve recognition for the work they do every day. Before talking about the larger problems, I want to make sure the people who actually care for residents are acknowledged. Michael is one of the most compassionate CNAs I've encountered. He is sensitive, kind, and dependable. Residents feel safe with him because he treats people with patience and genuine respect. In an environment where people are often vulnerable and relying on others for help, that kind of empathy makes a real difference. Steven also deserves strong recognition. He is not afraid of hard work and consistently does his job well. What stands out most is the way he helps residents feel comfortable about their bodies during very vulnerable moments. Personal care situations can be awkward or embarrassing, but Steven handles them with professionalism and respect, which preserves people's dignity. Demetrius is another staff member who clearly works extremely hard. He is constantly moving--running up and down the halls at what feels like the speed of light trying to help wherever needed. The residents deserve better care, and the employees who work hard every day--like Michael, Steven, Demetrius, Wei, and Brandon--deserve far better support from the leaders

Anyone considering Wesly Garden for senior living should review all agreements and contracts with…read morean elder attorney. The sales people speak in subjective and vague terms and make no firm commitments but suggest several things that are not supported by the contract you are asked to sign. For those who rely on spoken word and don't read the fine print they are likely in for a surprise. Their contract is very one-sided leaning heavily in favor of Wesley Gardens and weak in committing to responsibilities and obligations Wesley Garden can be held to. The cost to get on their wait list is $2000 non-refundable. In our case we were led to believe that although they could make no promises it would be reasonable to think in terms of 9-12 months. After 8 months we were then told t was currently we should expect about 2 years from that date and again in Dec 24 the expected wait time was still 2 years, (36 months from start of wait list, reminding me of the Seinfeld Chinese restaurant episode). My mother had visited and liked what she saw and heard and did not want to go anywhere else. We had signed up for a 1 bedroom. Some months in, a different more expensive unit was offered which we declined. They argued that we were offered and declined a 1 BR unit we had requested, and was evidence of filling some vague obligation, in fact it was a one bedroom plus den. The offered unit was not what was requested and was declined as it was more than my mother need and outside of her budget. When asked what percentage of the people on their wait list actually ever get into Wesley Garden I was told they did not know but that numbers and those statistics didn't matter. In fact at the time there were 200 people on the wait list banking them up to $400,000 which their VP said was needed due to the cost of maintaining this wait list. It seems the wait list is a revenue source of its own. It is highly unlikely they would not know what percentage of people on their wait list ever were admitted, but it does make sense why they wouldn't want to disclose it. I will be requesting the Attorney General look into their deposit policy just to make sure it is as fair and justified as they claim it is. Make no mistake, they are in-line with their one-sided contract, and I am not suggesting they violate their own contract. But seem to rely on elderly listening to the words they speak and not looking closely at the fine print that their lawyers have protected Wesley Garden very well with. Anything you are told verbally by Wesley Garden should be taken with healthy skepticism and ensure that everything you are told is documented in the contract. Then thoroughly review and understand the contract you are asked to sign (preferably with an attorney). This should especially be done with the $150,000 or more deposit agreement that you must pay.

She just laid in bed until we could find an alternate facility. Executive Director, Mark Hansen, was rude and most unhelpful. No explanation for why the PT department could not get their job done. And no leader willing to step in and help.

Caregivers Melinda, Kara and Nurse Stella were great. I expected that as a health service provider, it would be perfume free. However an unusual number of them wore perfume, some very strong. I am allergic to most perfume, so discussed it with the supervisor. She apparently thought I was the only person who was reactive and did nothing. A couple of days later, I smelled her wearing perfume. I was also disappointed there was no decaff coffee. I can't be the only one with high blood pressure. It seems that a healthcare facility should always have decaff for patients.

I have attended Lacey Medical Clinic since I was a kid and my insurance hasn't changed in 7 years…read more I have a low cost plan that gives us $0 out of pocket for PCP visits. I called and made an appointment for my daughter and when I arrived they verified my insurance hadn't changed. They also mentioned for the first time that they're now called 'Noble Physicians'. 3 months later I got a bill for $85 for out of network provider. I called and spoke to Susan in billing who was incredibly rude and condescending. She spoke over me constantly and repeatedly told me it was 'not her problem', that 'it was Regence's error, because they are in network'. In the end, it turned out she was using the website incorrectly to look up coverage for my plan and Noble Physicians is NOT covered. She said 'this is happening a lot with the company changes' yet let me know this was still not her problem and I needed to pay the $85 bill. I've never received such poor customer service, but also I feel it is very unethical for 1) established patients to not be informed of a company change like this without advance notice so they can verify any coverage changes, and 2) a medical provider OR billing person to verbally confirm you are in network with them if they're not 200% sure (Dr. Leighty DID discuss insurance with us during the visit, so he clearly didn't know they were no longer in network either). Also if you Google "Lacey Medical Clinic" right now they're still 'open' and at the same address and phone number I've used for decades, and a google search of Noble Physicians shows nothing in Olympia- very misleading. Be wary and don't make my mistake- there was no ownership or accountability on their part of the error and all they care about is their $85 instead of making it right.

When looking for a doctor, I could not believe the red tape with Group Health, Multi-Care, etc. They would be three or four months out for an appointment and make you call everyday for a cancellation. Dr. Rudnick is an Orthodox Jewish physician which fits my life perfectly. I only choose Jewish doctors most are better trained, and more empathic to suit my needs. The office is efficient and calls people back in a judicious manner. Please don't retire, Dr. Rudnick.
