Not only did Chase execute what I showed him to a tee, he also did so in record time since he works with BIAB It's now been 25 days and I have never had a full set last this long without damaging or breaking a whole nail since I am not very gentle with my hands. I was there at noon and the ambience was chill, and not very busy which I enjoyed a lot. *The only reason I'm giving four instead of five stars is because although I was on time for my 12pm sharp slot, he hadn't begun working until almost 1230 so even though be worked very fast, I ended up running behind on time for the day. Other than that I would 10/10 recommend coming here and having your hands quickly blessed with BIAB! Twenty-five days and they still look and feel fresh even with the minor dings! If I could give zero, I would. I hadn't been here in a long time because they left a bad taste in my mouth but I started coming back because I figured I'd give them another try and now I'm convinced to never come back. They're obviously trying to push people to getting the SNS powder nails which I used to love but stopped getting. I made a few appointments for UV gel manicures and didn't have any complaints for my first visit. The second, however, my nails began chilling within two days which is ridiculous. I was unable to get them fixed which ended up with much of the gel coming off and taking some of my nail layers with it. I returned on Wednesday (3/22) and asked for them to remove the gel and I decided to get a regular manicure to give my nails a break. The first red flag (aside from their UV gel chipping a day after getting it applied...) was that the tech didn't soak off my UV gel. All the other items I've gone to get a soak off and redo my gel manicure, they first filled a bit of the gel off to make it easier to soak off, put acetone-soaked cotton on each of my nails and cover them with foil, and then after some time, they'll remove the rest. This time, the tech legit, tried to file of all of the gel with the electric file. She went over my own nail multiple times and I had to tell her to be careful not to file my nail. The cotton and acetone was left on my nails for literal minutes. Not at all long enough to soak off properly. She put on the nail polish and you could tell that my nail surface was uneven (still is). I just took off the polish today (3/25) to redo it because it looked so shoddy and you can clearly see that there is still base coat gel left on my nails. My actual nail layers were filed unevenly and my cuticles look shite. Hopefully I can look back at this review to remember that some businesses are just not worth a second chance. This is my favorite nail salon in the Bronx. I make it a point to go every time I visit New York. I make it even more special by taking my mom and making it a mom-daughter date. The place is clean, the prices are reasonable and the service is great. The pedicures are done on massage chairs so you are nice and comfortable while you get your feet done. They also give you a mini back massage while you are drying your nails at the end of your services. Don't be surprised if you see the owner going around giving out hand lotions to everyone. Unfortunately I have to say that I doubt I will continue coming here. I went the other day to do my regular reflexology/pedicure and I found out that one of my favorite, Aida, will not be there anymore. I decided to try another lady, but unfortunately I didn't like it!!!!! She was talking with her partner the whole time in their language and I couldn't relax for nothing. In addition, this time I decided to get a 10 minutes massage, it was not relaxing and pleasant at all and she was still talking on a high volume to a distance in the room. She was really rough and instead of enjoying it was hurting; two days later here I am with a pain on my back that it was only a minor discomfort when I got there that day. However, my nails didn't last long, the nail color( no gel) came off by accident (once I moved) 3 times and I had to get them fixed. Today I went to this horrendous spa. I had went last week to show them a picture of the nails that I wanted and one of the workers, not going to say any names, said she can do the nails and she charges an extra 15$ for two fingers that had a rainbow design, there was no issue with that. The real problem was when I went in today and did pedicure which was good but when i need to do my nails, it was a horrible... they knew what I wanted and gave me something totally different. The rainbow blend turned out to be nail polish layers and dots on a finger nail. I told them to take it offf and just to paint it one color and I received attitude from the nail technician which was unprofessional. To add on to that I was overcharged. The place is a little gem in Tremont where they not only do nails and feet but also specialize in Spa treatments as well. The environment is calm, with soothing music and pleasantries. Used to be my favorite and I loved that they take appointments but I just had to walk out after waiting FORTY MINUTES when I had an appointment. When I asked how long the wait was going to be the nail technician mumbled and didn't give me an answer. When they were *nearly* ready for me I told them I had only stayed to see how long they were actually going to make me wait since it had been 40 minutes and I paid for an hour of parking. Horrible place. I have given it more than a few chances since it is close to home and cheap, however the staff has been rude to me on so many occasions it is ridiculous. If I arrive even 1.5-2 hours before closing, they will roll their eyes and tell you to leave so they can close early! She did sns nails completely different than anywhere in the country. I've had them done in L.A., Minneapolis and astoria. From the removal to the application was not what's standard. Then she charged tax without saying so on my card. She's a total bitch. To add insult to injury, they were talking shit about these ladies that Tina booked on the wrong date as soon as they left the shop. I recognized it because apparently the word "repeat" must not have an exact equivalent and that's what one of the customers said Tina did was "repeat" when she confirmed the appt. Just stay away because there are a lot of places that do nails with a much better Customer service attitude. WHITES ONLY? Was getting my nails done at my favorite nail salon, Crystal Nails, the other day when I witnessed one of the most blatant displays of bias. This was beyond the daily micro- aggressions we may typically feel. (Obvious) Latinas, and white folks walked in to Crystal Nail Salon on East Tremont Ave. and were told that they can be see in 10 minutes and treated warmly. A dark-skinned black woman walks in. She was a little fab and casual in her hair wrap. She asked for a repair of 3 nails and a color change. Unlike the rest, the manager tells her that she needs to wait 40 minutes, and repeated herself like 3 times. The woman looks at her, says okay, and leaves the salon. The manager turns backs and a look of satisfaction appears to wash over her. JIM CROW THROWBACK! Like a time warp. The manager might as well have told the woman, "No Blacks Allowed." I was shocked and upset. Like a veil was lifted, I looked around the salon and noticed that there was no one there comparable or darker than my own relative. We have always been treated so well there. Access through my pale face privilege perhaps? We paid and walked out drying. I am sadly going elsewhere from now on. I have been coming to the salon for about a year and recently started gettingSNS manicures - not cheap at all every two weeks. Yesterday I had a bad experience with Tina- who is usually quick and neat. She was rude yesterday when she finished and I asked for change after I gave her 60 and she returned two $5 bills back. I asked for singles bc another technician did my pedicure. Well she has an awful look ok on her face when I counted the singles and split the top between her and the guy. She even rudely to me to keep it shoving it back to me. It gave me such a horrible impression that I'm still upset about it. This is a nice place and I kept coming here for their SNS but not again. Instead of being gracious she was ungrateful and quite frankly nobody has to tip it is purely optional. Despite her waving her hand at me to keep my money I insisted she take it and she finally did.
