I wish I remembered his name. When I got in, I filled out the form, and was greeted by my masseuse, who I think was named Evelyn. I am sometimes skeptical when smaller masseuses do deep tissue but Evelyn really got to the knots. I was trying to fight sleep the whole massage. When I go back, I will definitely ask for her again! When I got out of the massage, I had water and a coupon to the Cakeroom bakery waiting for me. This was such a nice treat and an amazing way to enter year 29. I knew I needed to get a massage, but I've tried a few places in Capitol Hill previously and the massages were not great. Thus, I expanded my search bubble and found Unwind AdMo, and I'm glad I did!!! Nina gave me the best massage I've ever had - her technique was amazing, I was never uncomfortable, she focused on the right spots to get those tight knots out, and she made me feel very comfortable. Pricing was right on par for DC too. I will always come to Unwind Wellness now - even though it's ~40 minutes by metro/walking away, compared to some local spots I could be at in 5 minutes. I'm even nervous to try their Unwind Navy Yard location...because I only want massages from Nina, she's that good.

If you're looking for massage therapists who actually do real work, this is the place. I've seen both Helen and Heajin, and they are exceptional in different but complementary ways. Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she's effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.

But by the time I walked over to Adams Morgan, I had discovered that the nail salon I used to go to from time to time had closed. While I was walking down the street to see if there were any other nail spots on the block still open, I stumbled upon Prada, opting for a foot massage instead. I walked down the stairs into a dark space and was quickly greeted. I opted for a 30 minute foot massage for $40. They ask that you pay first before taking you to a big comfy chair in the next room. The foot massage itself was pretty good but they smell in the space reminded me a bit of basement mildew and remained consistently top of mind while getting the massage. But the woman that did the massage was so nice! If you're looking for a quick and easy foot massage it will do the trick, but just don't expect spa-like esthetics.

The staff member came into the room loudly talking on the phone and after a few minutes told me to get dressed and that we would start with the foot massage portion. Unfortunately, this didn't make for a very relaxing experience! The massages were fine - the pressure was a bit strong for my preferences. I wish this was a more relaxing experience!
