To preface, this was my first time going to a salon to dye my hair and steering away from my usual…read morehair stylist (but it was unfortunately needed for an emergency haircut). Also I made this account to leave a review, hence no other reviews. I went to the salon the other day just to dye my hair one specific color (not intricate at all just a solid color on half my head) I showed the stylist a picture (of cherry red hair) and picked my own color (vibrant cherry red) I already have ginger hair so I didn't think it would be that much of a difference but I'm not a stylist so I don't know for sure. When my hair was done it was purple. A super vibrant purple, like almost no red at all (other than my natural color). I told her I wanted it to be red, like the photo and the sample, she said it was strange that it was so vibrant "violet" and I guess removed some of the color and added red (I'm not sure if that's what she did but she said she would try to fix it). By the time we had finished, 3 hours had passed and my hair was still purple. I called today and asked for the color used on my hair, looked it up and sure enough it was purple. (Side note: They just called again and I didn't pick up but they left a voicemail and said it was actually a DIFFERENT hair dye which is more of a maroon) I don't actually know which one they used but at first it was DEFINITELY vibrant dark purple so I doubt it was the maroon one, especially because my natural hair is ginger. I want to be clear and say everyone was so nice and sweet and I would definitely come back if it wasn't for an (I'm sure) miscommunication. I won't name the stylist's name either because she was so nice and meant well it's just not what I wanted.. at all and I paid quite a bit for the service. I hurried out of the salon as I had another commitment. I don't like to complain but this felt worthy as I want to avoid others from having the same experience as I did. Remember to communicate with your stylist and don't be a doormat! If something feels wrong, it is, advocate for your self.

Ultimately, from the displays to the marketing of their very own T-shirt's, this is salon is well put together. I know you didn't read this review just for the appearance, so let's get started with what really matters, the quality of the haircut. Just so you know my hair is very coarse, and without conditioner, drier than a desert. This didn't matter. Tiffany reviewed and discussed to ensure my hair would be managed correctly and then proceeded. The transparency and honesty was very refreshing as you absolutely don't want to sit with someone that thinks they know it all to then screw up your do'. Partial highlights on top and a trim on the sides; that's what I got. Sarah helped out as well and showcased her expertise when it came to the finite details of men's hair. I became comfortable with revealing more about my personal self, which can be a true testimony to the humbling yet luxuriate atmosphere the studio bestows. The price was reasonable, around the 130 mark, but that was to be expected. In conclusion, I definitely would recommend to my friends, and so my friends, I strongly suggest you consider taking a visit.

My last text was…read moresent on September 17, 2026 and as you can see, I never got a response back: September 10, 2026 Hi, Kris! I just wanted to check in after your recent appointment to make sure you loved your hair and had a great experience with your stylist. Your satisfaction is important to us, so if there's anything you'd like to share, we'd love to hear your feedback! My hair came out great. Karen did a beautiful job. I did send an email to thecolorstudiosa@gmail.com expressing a couple of concerns. Thank you. Hi ma'am we are glad that you loved hair. If you would like you can share your concerns here as well so we can make sure it arrives to our salon owner I got a color retouch to touch up my roots and a balayage. The starting price for balayage is 290. I have a lot of hair and anticipated it would be more than that but not $110 more your website states "Each service comes with a consultation with a discussion on price and hair expectations before we start." The price was never discussed with me. I also was super disappointed that a blowout is not included in the price and cost me an additional $65. All I kept thinking was why would a stylist let me leave the salon with wet or partially wet hair what if it was cold outside? I also had to point out to Karen that my hair was still wet in the back, and she had to finish blow drying me after I pointed that out and had paid. Thank you. September 16, 2026 I was hoping to receive a text or email at least acknowledging my concern. I guess you already got my money so why should you be concerned about satisfaction? Very disappointing. Hi Kris, thank you for reaching out, and I apologize for the delay in personally responding. I was away on vacation and officially returned to the salon Monday. I wanted to speak with Karen and understand everything from her side before getting back to you.Karen did let me know that you came in for a consultation prior to your appointment, and during that consultation she discussed the services, pricing, and the breakdown of what would be needed for your hair. I do understand that the pricing was not reviewed again on the actual day of your service, and I can absolutely see where that may have caused confusion. I've spoken with Karen about making sure pricing is reconfirmed before beginning a service, even when it has already been discussed during a previous consultation. Our salon services are à la carte, so a blowout is a separate $65 service. We do offer a complimentary light blow-dry after color services so clients do not leave with dripping-wet hair, but it is not intended to be a complete blowout or blowout or fully dry/style the hair. I appreciate you bringing your concerns to my attention. I've discussed everything with Karen, and we will definitely use your feedback to make sure we are even clearer with our communication moving forward. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to address this personally. September 17, 2026 Thank you for your response. To be transparent I did have a consultation with Karen about two weeks before my appointment. However, we discussed a color correction and a Balayage, which was in the neighborhood of $900. We. never concretely discussed the price for a root touchup and Balayage. I really want to come back to do my touchups, but I need to understand your pricing. Why did I pay $110 more than the base price for a Balayage? Do you charge by the foil? I understand I have a lot of hair so maybe more product was used but not $110 worth of product. I can get over charging me for a blow dry. I can blow dry my own hair. Please help me understand thank you for your time.
