Crying Eagle is a great local brewery in Lake Charles. I've been there a couple of times and the brewery tour is interesting and the tap wall is awesome. They have about a dozen different varieties of beer that they make from sours to stouts and I've tried them all. Was seated and waited 45 minutes with the server in area serving all tables around us but us. Terrible service, likely racist.

I was happy with the pretzels but the pizzas had the strangest taste! I could not eat it! I sadly threw it away as expensive as it was! The boudin balls were not boudin balls! Inside they looked and had the texture of oatmeal fried in a crispy coating and taste NOTHING like boudin! I wanted to love this food! The prices are ridiculous! I'll pay a fortune for great food! This food is not good! I have driven to Baton Rouge, Houston, Beaumont for a meal! I have eaten in authentic Mexican and Oriental mom and pop restaurants In Seattle that I ached to return to after coming back to LC!! I will not spend money here again! I've been eating out for over 48 years! I know great food, excellent boudin from here to Church Point and excellent pizza from homemade to fine restaurants and that pizza was not good! I tried the fig pizza! I live and breath figs! The figs may have been good but the flavor combination in the sauce or seasoning whatever they mixed together to make it stick on the dough was not palatable! I know GREAT pizza! I even make my own dough!! Sorry Crying Eagle but maybe your dine in customers are a little too tipsy that they don't really know great food! I had the pleasure of dining at the Crying Eagle Brewery. I do not drink alcohol but friends I was with do and they said the beer was outstanding. We loved it so much the first night we went back a second night. The food was delicious and the wait was not long despite the crowd. I enjoyed the upstairs loft and the live music outside. Such an amazing brewery! The night we went, there was a fundraiser and even still service was on point. We ordered the pretzels and beer cheese for appetizers. I am obsessed with soft pretzels and cheese, my husband does not at all like a pretzel. Until we ate these. He said "I think I just turned into a pretzel eater" he LOVED them! They were absolutely delicious and the cheese was phenomenal. We ordered the butcher block for ourselves and the pepperoni for our 1 yr old. All of it was absolutely delicious! My husband drank (one of us had to drive) and loved all of the beer. We ended up purchasing a 6pack from Rouse's afterwards and they were amazing!! Very kid friendly, I didn't feel like people judged us for having our little one there. We definitely will be back and I cannot wait!! The fundraiser was held outside but they have a large outdoor area that when we go back will be convenient for our little one. read more

We have watched Crying Eagle grow from just a local brewery startup into an event venue and yummy food spot. The space is large and open. The layout gives you plenty of options for types of seating. The Crying Eagle Pizza is my favorite food item, but I cannot wait to try the newly launched Sunday Brunch! The beers are always cold and delicious. The brewery rotates out numerous seasonal taps, so we always have something different to try and love. People forget this is not a bar... it's family friendly so come out with the kids too. There's never any riff-raff. The staff is always extremely friendly and welcoming. This is our favorite spot in town and we are lucky to have it. read more

Only giving this place three stars, givingly, because the blond woman who I ordered my food from was friendly and the ONE beer I had here was alright. Other than that the service here is absolute below sub par for a place this nice. First time here from out of town, I came in alone after work and said I had never been here before and asked for a good suggestion on beer. I received a beer from me just telling the young girl what I usually drink/order. She promptly went back to drawing the chalkboard sign for outside and didn't speak to me again. She was though, talking to another young girl patron sitting down the bar from me as they talked about "getting free food" and giggling about summertime. She somehow vanished and a new guy showed up behind the bar. The "new guy" and the girl at the bar down from me, who I can now assume also works here, talk about their weekend and getting drunk, etc. which is totally fine, it's a small town, whatever. I only ever get asked how I'm doing about 15 minutes later, beer completely empty about 10 minutes of that, if, I "need anything?". I said I'll take my check. Response: "give me a minute" as he talks to the guy at the end of the bar, laughing, etc. which again IS ALL NORMALLY FINE if I am getting ANY sort of treatment like a paying patron sitting next to this all. I got my stuff and left. And wasn't told thank you or to have a good day.. or anything. After really wanting to like this place after reviews, how nice it is and everything... I ultimately felt like an outsider not "in the local club". I wasn't talked to or even made feel like i existed and it was extremely obvious I was there because it was 3pm in a weekday. I won't be back, unfortunately. Work on your staff and this place would be great. read more

So happy I searched "breweries" & found this place!! The Crying Eagle Brewery" is a great place for singles, couples & families!! My hubby & I wanted to find a place, preferably a brewery, that also served food. Well let me let you... the food here is "the bomb"!! We had the Crying Eagle salad which was delicious & the Philisteak calzone served with a wonderful marinara sauce. Oh soooo good!! The other food that we saw served to others looked yummy!! It took us a little while to decide what to get. We also had their Louisiana Lager, which was ice cold & delicious as well!! The building is newly built & the interior & layout is very cool. The atmosphere is inviting & all of their employees were very friendly & accommodating. I will definitely be going back!! A++ read more

We like to try brewpubs in every town we visit. This was definitely a winner. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Good food and my husband loved the beer. He got the baked oysters and we shared the salad and a pizza. Very tasty. Our only complaint is that the napkins are flimsy and we went through a bunch of them eating the pizza. I stopped in here with my family for a kinda early supper on a Saturday night hoping to beat the crowd. However, it wasn't early enough because all of the tables inside downstairs were already taken and the entire upstairs and outdoor patio tables were reserved for private parties. Everything is still clean and brand new looking with a pretty cool atmosphere. You have to walk up to the Bistro counter to place your food order and luckily, pretty quick after we placed our food order, a couple of tables opened up and we high-tailed it over there and snagged them. The food was ready pretty quickly even though it was packed, and we were conveniently given a pager so we would know when to go back up to the counter to get it and could all sit at the table and visit together while waiting to be paged. We ordered an Eagles Eggs appetizer and I think they were the best deviled eggs I've ever eaten. My husband got a pepperoni and jalapeño Pizza, but he didn't think it was that great and when I tried it, I didn't think it was either. My nephew and I both split the Lobster Roll and the Three Meat Panini. I was disappointed in the smallish amount of Lobster meat for the price and also the fact that it was definitely on the dry side - I'm used to having quite a bit more dressing on a Lobster Roll, and I couldn't really tell the Lobster was buttered - only the bread seemed to be. The Three Meat Panini was delicious and after tasting my daughter's Grilled Cheese & Ham Sandwich, I decided our Panini was much better than her Sandwich, but both seemed a tad on the smallish side for the price. I would go back just for the Eagles Eggs alone, but would like to try more things on the menu. read more

Great place but needs to bring on the warmth...be sure to wear a heavy coat or bring a blanket. Beer is good, young but likely to mature...hope they stick around. Decent ambiance, hope the trees don't fall to "development". Service was good. read more

Good smoke free place with good tap turn over. The brewery is constantly coming out with new beers so you can usually find something new to try. The beers themselves are decent but they don't have enough hops for my preference. We go all the time for the above mentioned new beers and smoke free indoor area (Lake Charles bars are even behind West Virginia in allowing indoor smoking). Beers are sold with tokens and as of this review it was $5 per beer token or 3 for $13. The biggest drawback is they do not have food and food trucks are not regularly onsite other than first Thursday each month. It would really turn the corner for the tap room if they were to get a permanent food truck like other breweries have done. They allow outside food and the outdoor space has bags (corn hole) and a few other games. It's also pretty bright inside for a bar which is kind of awkward for some people we have brought to grab a drink read more

Great brewery. Very clean, chill staff, delicious beers, awesome atmosphere. We are from Houston and had plans to stay at the Golden Nugget for the night. We got to Louisiana early just so that we could try out Crying Eagle when they opened at 2pm. I wish they had a brewery like this in Houston. We do have Karbach but I loved the two story indoor portion in addition to the outside area. We will definitely be back! read more
