Note it appears that their menus vary by location, with the University location having smaller offerings. Of the food we tried, I enjoyed the pepperoni pizza the most and the Boudin the least. If you do not drink beer, they also have cocktails and wine. As with the food, the University location has a limited selection of cocktails. The night we came they also had live music outside. Honey and I took a date day over to Lake Charles to visit Crying Eagle Brewery. It's at the bottom of the bridge and take the first exit. Easy to get to and perfect locale. It's a super awesome setup with ample parking and great walk up. We had premade reservations via Open Table. They aren't required but we did just in case they were busy. Our server was Megan, who made great recommendations and was super helpful. (Ask for her!) Anywho... We ordered Parmesan crusted fries to start with me having the Barrel and Bough for a starter drink, and Honey had a Lake front Lager. He described it as being light and delicious. The Barrel and Bough was chefs kiss... a welcome spin on my favorite Old Fashioned. He ordered the I-10 Smash Burger with a truffle Fries, and I went for the chicken and sausage gumbo, with a side of brown butter mashed potatoes. The meal was excellent. Honey wasn't super impressed with the smash burger, but it was great presentation with good flavor. I, however, devoured my gumbo. It was the perfect blend with spice but a hint of sweet. Reminded me of my mother's gumbo and that's hard to beat!!!! We finished the meal with a cup of coffee. We got cans of Fruit Stand blend to go, and we loved it. We will for sure be back for more trips to enjoy their delish faire of foods. It is seafood heavy but there are options for vegans and burgers available as well. We drove to Lake Charles with the intention of visiting a different establishment. However, due to their limited hours, we weren't able to visit this time around. While looking for a backup, I came across this place. I was surprised to find that they provided a variation of counter service instead of table service. We ordered at the counter, received a number and the staff later brought the food to us. However, with the beer, we ordered at a different counter and brought it back to the table ourselves. This was a while back, so I'm not sure if things have changed since then. Seating was available indoors (2 levels) and outdoors, complete with live music. We ordered the eagle wings & fries, margherita pizza and pretzels & beer cheese. The chicken wings were dry and the pizza crust was less than desirable. The pretzels were salty, but better once the salt was dusted off. The beer cheese was interesting but not my favorite. Overall, I didn't care for the food. Passing through and saw the place. Great location and nice building. My son had a shrimp po boy and it was good and loaded with shrimp. I opted for a Caesar Salad with blackened shrimp. When it arrived I was shocked as it was about 7-10 romaine whole lettuce leaves with some dressing and bacon bits mixed in but the kicker is while the salad is 12 dollars adding Shrimp is 14 more and it only had 3 medium sizes shrimp. I never say much but I told the waitress who agreed and said she thought the same. I told her to tell the mgr but he/she never bothered to come out if she did relay the message. Great atmosphere! They have a really nice outdoor as well as indoor area. The inside has 2 floors, the top floor being really cozy with couches and areas to hang out! I'm not crying, you're crying. On a trip to Lake Charles, we stopped by Crying Eagle Brewing for some brews in the afternoon. And we were lucky to find out that we were there during their happy hour where they have discounts on beers and beertails (beer + cocktail mix). They have a large parking lot so parking won't be an issue. And it's a spacious brewery too with two floors. After checking out the menu, I started with one of their beertails. It's not often that I have a cocktail that has some beer so couldn't say no to that. It delivered. From there, to get a good variety, I did a flight. Always my go-to at breweries so you can try a good number of their beers. Followed by a full-size beer after that to complete the trifecta. While they had food, that looked good, we stuck to drinks. Plus, free WiFi. I would return. My only complaint? They charge for samples . . . it's a brewery. Come on! read more

I love that this place is dog friendly and they allow dogs both for indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are all very friendly. Plenty of seating. Very fun and chill vibes. Self seating. You order at the front counter and they will bring out your food. Also very good food. My fiancé and I had the jalapeño cheese curds to start and for entrees I had the hot chicken sandwich and my fiancé had the fiesta melt. The chicken sandwich was good but beware, it definitely has a kick to it. My fiancé really enjoyed his fiesta melt. We visited the Lakefront location. We arrived in time for happy hour which advertised 25% off all beers and select food items. We sat outside to admire the Lakefront view but were told happy hour did not apply outside. We asked if we could get a flight to try different beers and were told the Lakefront location didn't offer flights (the other location does). We ordered the pork belly bites which, while delicious, were covered in cilantro not advertised on the ingredients list and we can't eat it. We each had a full priced beer and then tried the gumbo, which was good but awfully salty. Our second full priced beer helped. Server was very attentive, beers were good, food was pretty good, location/scenery and outdoor vibe was great. Bring happy hour outside and we will be back! read more

Come for the food and nice location and friendly staff. However the craft beer is just not great. This is an honest assessment from someone who enjoys craft beer. The beer is not a drain pour, but not a beer destination by any means. Possibly the best brewery in Lake Charles but there isn't much competition . This is a surprisingly great brewery in Lake Charles. They have excellent selection of lights, darks and IPAs. Location and parking is great and the vibes are great. This was our 2nd time here and it was a bit disappointing. 1st-children upstairs running around and yelling while parents saying and doing nothing. I know that's not the business fault however when you are disrespecting other paying customers, it becomes your issue. 2nd- we ordered nachos and asked them to leave off the cilantro. Arrived WITH cilantro and cold. Guess they didn't want to climb the stairs 2x to bring our food separately. Sent back, this time no cilantro, no peppers and warm. 3rd, Alfredo pizza was missing the garlic. That's what makes it so tasty and appealing. 4th, don't you bring DISHES with the food???? Had to ask for plates 2x before someone brought them. Again, forgot? Or just didn't want to climb upstairs again? By the way, the noisy family left and another group with kids came upstairs. We sat out in the patio and found a warm in friendly atmosphere that had a 1 man performing with his guitar. He played a mix of songs, musically and vocal talented. Engaged with the audience too. Fun. The other dogs, all on leash and all well behaved. Food, Shrimp Tacos my husband rated them a 3.5, good. But not a wow. I had the fish platter.. with only Catfish. Knowing what I should have paid attention to then, was way too pricey for the plate itself. However was tasty but I'd rather have a thicker piece of fish for the batter. I have been a patron since their doors have opened!! I have spent a lot of money at both locations and recommended to numerous friends and relatives. Guess they have gotten full of themselves and rude since opening their new location. I went to Sunday Brunch and paid $18 for a double Bloody Mary. I took two shrimp and two sausage and two pieces of cheese. I went back to get a carrot, yes one carrot and was yelled at by the bartender!! Loud enough for all patrons to hear! I was told I get one trip and that is it! I said but I paid $18 and there is literally no room in the glass. I said I just want a carrot and did not get anything from the veggies. He wanted to make a point and he did!! I will never come back and will tell anyone I can to not go back. Guess they don't need their faithful following patrons who have been with them since the beginning :-( While I am on the subject their new location after visiting several times is always lacking in service and is very over priced for what you get. Also quality of food not that great! So many better places in LC with better food, value and service. Absolutely RUDE bartender, not friendly and has been that way the last few to both locations!! Service was not good. I walked in at 8 to get a burger and beer. I was told they quit serving food on the weekdays at 8. I had just driven in from New Orleans for business. Unfortunately I needed food. When I told him I just drove in from New Orleans the guy at the counter shrugged and said sorry. Horrible customer service and nowhere does it say the quit serving food at 8. I love the beer and was looking forward to a couple of beers that they don't distribute. We had a Christmas get together on Tuesday night and we were charged for 2 hours for reading room. This was not good the food was not that great and we were charged 18% gratuity. We did not have a waiter or waitress. We should be refunded for the gratuity and the 2 hours for reading room. This is ridiculous. read more

Atmosphere - A little rustic, cement floors, woods, and metal. The kitchen is to the right when you walk in and the bar is in the back corner. Food Drink - I had two different IPA's, Things Unsettled and If Nectaron, I Don't Wanna Be Right. Things Unsettled was my favorite of the two. I am IPA guy and there was a lot of taps going here but I think I had both. Dinner - I love pizza, they had gas oven that you can see just roaring in the kitchen. They had some interesting speciality pizzas but I went my classic choice of a pepperoni pizza. I had an 8", would have like a 10" but that was not a menu option. The pepperoni was larger than most places. Overall the pizza was a little too sweet for me. I was unable to tell if it was the crust or sauce. Service - The way the place is laid out I would almost expect a server to take care of you at the table. Instead you need to order food at the kitchen, beer at the bar. The cashier at the kitchen did offered up to start a tab for me at the bar. I love the little chalk board beer labels to tell you what they had. Maybe it is my old age but I found finding the style of beer each one is difficult. I asked the bartender and he recommended the Things Unsettled. After sitting at my table I checked my beer into Untappd, my beer app, and noticed the brewery uses the app Untappd. I found my second beer, or I think I did. Been to a ton of breweries around the country and this one is the absolute upper tier. Everything about the place was well-designed. Ultra laidback - with a drink station, separate window to order food (no waiters, short wait, easy process), and an outdoor patio. Really impressed with the quality of the food, especially at a moderate price point. The beer itself is outstanding though and would make any beer snob proud. Stopped by here for an early dinner, while in town for travel ball. Service was great, food arrived quickly, and the place was hopping! We ordered the burgers because of the reviews, and it was definitely one of the best burgers I've had. The truffle oil fries are delicious! I also ordered the Timothy Patrick Irish Stout (I love a dark beer), and it was so smooth. We weren't able to hang out for that long because they were preparing for a concert at 7, but we would definitely come back next time we are in the area. The people here are very nice. Ample parking (though pretty busy for a Tuesday evening) and lots of seating. We opted to sit outside with the DJ and trivia night (live music on weekends). The patio is pet friendly. I'm not a fan of having to go to two different counters to order your brews and food. Excellent choices for brews. They charge a dollar for a taste which is not something I've run into before. But they were great about running a tab, and the food register recognized the tab from the bar, which was convenient. I selected a Hefeweizen and the Hubbs had a mango jalapeño sour. Both good. I had to taste their Timothy Patrick stout to toast my Irish relatives. Very nice. The food menu is decent - burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers and pizzas. We selected the Fig pizza. It was good, but could have used a few more fig slices or onion jam. It was a bit dry in places. We were going to order more food but just ran out of steam after a long day of travel. Overall , nice but with a few misses. read more
