Dishes made with native ingredients? Yes please! Indigenous owned and operated business with dishes…read moreinspired by indigenous recipes? Yes please! An entire multi-page menu of herbal teas that includes historical information about how the different ingredients had been used by indigenous populations? Yes please! After wanting to visit Javelina for a long time I finally got the opportunity to a couple weeks ago. SO GOOD! I got the bison chili, some fry bread (of course! ), the three sisters salad, and some tea. The chili was SUPERB, and the fry bread was the perfect dipping accompaniment to it. The three sisters salad had such a good flavor balance, with the squash giving a perfect hint of sweetness against the other ingredients. I love herbal teas (my mom grew her own herbs and would make all different ones for us growing up), so it was such a delight to see the huge variety of in-house-made herbal teas available. I forget the name of the one I ended up picking (I think it was something like three tribes). It was great and exactly what I was looking for). The ambience in the restaurant has a lovely simplicity that feels like it suits it perfectly. I can't wait to come back and try their brunch some time. Oh, and before I forget, the service was on-point. Everyone being lovely and accommodating.

Arrive around brunch time. Place was about at half capacity. Was asked if I had a reservation,…read moreno, was promptly seated. I had the fry bread taco. Fry bread was good but the toppings were lacking something, very little protein, a bit basic. Offered was a bottle of tapatío, was expecting more of a house made salsa or garnish, maybe I've become boujie. The taco took almost an hour to arrive to my table. Not sure if the waitress forgot about us or staff attending larger parties but it was a bit of a wait given that it was not busy, only had one waitress working. Table behind us got there orders within 15 minutes of ordering, so kind of perplexed about the wait. Luckily, the neighbor across the street was cutting his very dry grass so that was entertaining. The bannock cinnamon roll cup saved this visit, arrived in between eating my taco . It was delicious but needed a knife to tear it apart, had a lot of give.

Hand forged from sterling silver, many pieces have turquoise and or rosarita (red colored) stones inlaid. Definitely a soohistboho vibe. She makes earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings. I particularly love the silver feather earrings, they really stand out and can be worn daily or to dress up an outfit. Also love the earrings that feature an eagle. And anything with turquoise, my favorite color and stone! Wild Heart Wares has a booth at the Hood River Farmers Market where you can see her jewelry up close, talk with the designer, and try things on. I fell in love with a pair of turquoise inlaid earrings with sterling fringe dangling and made the mistake of not buying them right then and there. Came back the next week and they were gone. I showed Kim the picture I had thankfully taken, and she said that in January, when things are slower, she will do a custom order. Kim is delightful and has so much passion about her craft and the beauty all around us. If you love sterling silver and nature inspired pieces, definitely visit this booth at the Hood River Farmers Market Saturdays 9-1pm. There is also a website so you can purchase jewelry 24/7.

I also got a few different strands of beaded necklaces. Also very well made and thought out by Kim. You can tell by the color combos. This charming little gem has opened recently in the last year in a nook behind the Clackamas mall…read more And it is an absolute delight. It is a very open space with high ceilings. Although it is mostly composed of white shades, there's a calming mint color to contrast, with small pops of pink. At certain times of the day, it can be particularly busy, and the noise levels can be high. There is a combination of both sweet and savory options. The food is centered around croissant dough being formed into waffle shapes. When my coworker and I went, it was during the February special, which premiered certain flavored croffle and drinks for a limited time. One of the types we had was the Burrata & Prosciutto. The creamy burrata, the salty, satiny layers of prosciutto, contrasted with the sharp and sweet notes of the balsamic glaze was mouthwatering. The croissant base made for a great vehicle for the toppings, being soft in the center, and flaky on the exterior. The Nutella, Strawberries & Bananas Croffle was an instant classic, albeit a little heavy on the Nutella, since they stuffed some more of it in the interior of the croffle. The seasonal Berry in Love was absolutely fantastic. The fresh berries and house-made compote with the slightly sweetened whip was not heavy on the palate at all. For the drinks, we got the Sweetheart Latte, which was a light blend of rose and vanilla. The Blushing Matcha was incredibly smooth and earthy with notes of tangy raspberry bits over foam. Overall, it was a great experience. Both the food and drink are excellent. But expect prices to be more on the expensive side. The staff was also informative and hard at work behind the counter. I have already been back to this establishment a couple of times.

Croffle has a modern and comforting interior that is really inviting. I loved the decor and all the spaces there were places I'd be happy to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee for a while. The whole cafe is bright and open. The cold brew that I ordered was phenomenal. The cream top was nice and thick and gave me exactly what I needed. I loved the creamy sweetness from the cold brew and I now wished that I had gotten a larger size. If you are into a creamy and smooth coffee experience then this is what I'd highly recommend. We also tried the mojito which was a bit less great than the coffee. It was refreshing, but more just like a mojito flavored lemon soda. If you really need something bubbly, this is totally fine, but I'd stick with the coffee for sure.
