Another amazing experience at the Crows Nest! We came here last week to celebrate my in-laws's birthdays. My husband made the reservations ahead of time. When we arrived, the table was thoughtfully decorated with a sign and little gold stars scattered across it. The food was tasty, and we indulged in three different desserts that did not disappoint. This place is one of our favorite summertime spots since it is close to our marina, but has proven to consistently be on point in the off season as well. P.S. Great job on the inside of the restaurant and very friendly service. Awesome options on the menu ranging from many seafood dishes to pasta dishes and even sandwiches. Whether you are a seafood eater or not cries nest will have something that catches your attention on their menu. I went with the boneless fried chicken and really enjoyed it. My GF had the baked stuff shrimp. We also split a Caesar salad, a Portuguese stuffy, and clam cakes & chowder. Aside from the boneless chicken and the stuffy, we would opt for something else next time on the menu since they have some other great options to choose from. Crows Next is a beautiful restaurant located in across an inlet in what looks like a residential area. My waiter that I have had the pleasure of having twice also works as a bartender there too. He is friendly, and banters with our jokes. Sooooo, I'm sure you're wondering why I gave them 3 stars. It is only because the food could be so much better tasting especially for the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. It's just mediocre. I've have ordered clam cakes, broiled scrod and baked scallops. The first time I ate there I picked butternut squash as my side it was a watery mush and the Broccoli Au Gratin was a mushy texture too. My last visit I decided to try their coleslaw and baked potato. My friends ordered fried scallops, salmon and fish & chips with no complaints. First and last time visiting this restaurant. Tried their fried scallops with garlic knots, shrimp scampi, Downeast Pumpkin Cider & Vodka Tonic. Fried Scallops were so tiny you barely could taste any. Portion was more like a small appetizer than a meal. The garlic knots were only one knot, hopeless, way below expectations of garlic knots. Barely any garlic buttery taste, just a knot of bread, not what we expected at all. Barely a half a meal in portion size. See others photos, those small oval dishes are small. Don't be fooled. My husband was still starving so he ate half of my shrimp scampi. They had no bread. Wasn't delivered???? Go buy some for heaven's sake at the bakery or market!!! Who does this, operate with zero bread? Scampi was $37, only 5 medium shrimp, watery sauce, definitely not an Italian version. Not worth half that price. Very disappointing. Still starving. We were tired and hungry after 4 hour drive, it was late and we had few choices. There were barely any customers. Should have been a sign but desperate at the time. Definitely needs improvement in portion size, size of scallops, linguine instead of spaghetti pasta, make sure you have bread under all circumstances!! read more

They were so unappealing and looked more like oysters out of a container added to a shell... and they were room temp. My wife and I went there for lunch last Monday and staff was very friendly and the food was very good. I just have to commend this business for their honestly. Stupid me, I left my wallet either on the table or it dropped out of my pocket in the booth or on the floor. That was around 1:30 PM Now I didn't realize that I had misplaced my wallet until the next morning. I pretty much knew that that was the last place and time that I had it. So I went there as soon as they opened and asked if they had found my wallet and they came to the front door and with a smile, handed me my wallet with everything intact. I was beyond overjoyed and relieved. Kudos to all the staff there. Obviously we will be returning for some more great food and service. read more

My 1st time back since the new owners took over but I would have to say it's been at least 13 years since my last visit. I always found the quality and the final product to be nothing worth coming back for so to be honest I may have dined here a half dozen times. There was just too many better restaurants around to choose from. So I was told by a friend he had a really good dinner here couple of weeks ago so I wanted to give it a shot. We got there just in time as the restaurant was filling up fast. The parking situation is going to be a problem come summer season. The restaurant has been total revamped and much more appealing and they also invested in a huge marine fish tank between the dining rooms. That was great touch! Started with the tuna tower very similar to the tuna tower from Fresco. (8) Clam cakes Nice color and moist inside with visible pieces of clam (8) Cream Clam Chowder thick with very small chopped potatoes and plenty of dill (7) Fried seafood platter (6) portion size may have been a bit on the smaller side for the cost. But it was cooked close to perfection. The waiter was very attentive and very quick to report d to what we needed and the place was full and busy. Crow's Nest isn't your grandparents' restaurant anymore! Well, actually, it kinda is - but it certainly doesn't look like it. I hadn't been here in years - since before the fire & big remodel. The place is GORGEOUS! A huge aquarium provides a beautiful accent wall. It's surrounded by a moss wall - so perfect we assumed it was fake. Nope, real live moss! I'm in love!!! Seriously beautiful decor & the bar & marina view deck look super appealing too. Junior was our server & he was absolutely fabulous! Super attentive, friendly, happy, knowledgeable, professional - a truly perfect server! We were there a bit late in the evening & I watched the cleaning crew shining up the place. Amazing to see their attention to the smallest details, like cleaning & shining every millimeter of the bus tray stands. I've seen some really nasty stands, so this was this was impressive! The seafood-centric menu is right out of the days before the remodel. It's definitely a throwback to joining my father & his octogenetian posse for lunch here. Not much new and exciting - just standard, fresh, well prepared seafood. Even the smaller portions menu reflects their attention to the early bird crowd. When in Rome... so we stuck to the basics- Creamy Chowder, Fish & Chips, Baked Stuffed Shrimp. All were fresh & perfectly prepared. The chowder was tasty & loaded with clams & potatoes. The fried items - fish, fries, onion rings - were not at all greasy, fried in clean oil even at the end of a Friday - unremarkable but good. My only wish would be a good, homemade tartar sauce instead of pre-packaged. The Baked Shimp were equally well made & tasty. In retrospect, the smaller portion would have been plenty. The star of the night, though, was the Brocolli au Gratin. I don't even really like brocoll, but this sounded good. And, it was. I could eat this buttery, cheesy, crunchy goodness every day. This is just a quick think and it may seem silly to most but it bothers me. Yesterday I was feeling very upset and depressed about something. I was in the area of the Crows Nest which I had been to many times so I thought I would run in for a quick glass of wine. Ordered a glass of chardonnay and have to say it was the smallest pour I ever had!! The glass was small and I swear no way was that even 6ozs. It was maybe 3 sips. Told the waitress she didn't seem to care. It just upset me such a small thing! Have to say the cup of chowder was delicious. read more

We were delightfully surprised when we visited the Crow's Nest - it's got quite a number of excellent points to recommend it that we were unaware of before our visit.  To begin with, the location is right on the water, and it's got some really nice views.  The service is also very friendly and completely on point.  That said, the high point of our visit was the food! Tip: Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good - Happy Hour pricing just happened to be in effect when we arrived, so we were treated to several delicious, half-price appetizers :-) The menu here has lots of nice-looking choices, and everything we tried was delicious.  We especially enjoyed the butternut squash side and the scallops.   Last, but not least, then portion sizes here are VERY generous! read more

I had such high hopes initially when the restaurant went under new ownership. But, after last night and the last few times I've gone, I don't plan on ever returning! There were 5 of us and the service was fine, but, oh, the food was just awful! Much of it was barely lukewarm, notably my dinner of baked stuffed shrimp & rice pilaf and also the stuffed mushrooms which were hard-not cooked enough! The shrimp just did not taste fresh, like the scallops I had last time, which I couldn't even eat. The basket of rolls were cold and hard, and the clam cakes were WAY overdone! What a waste of money! Came here today for lunch because I really wanted chowder and clam cakes. My friend, who is normally a seafood person ironically went with a chicken parm sandwich which would normally be what I would order if we were anywhere else in the area except Iggy's. It was a beautiful day out, and this is a nice place to be on a sunny summer day. It's a great atmosphere inside. It's one of those places where everybody knows your name. Lots of locals. Lots of repeat customers. If you get both of those, you're a pretty good spot. Inside is very modern and clean. Great natural light from the outside and a view of the bay, where you can see quahoggers and other shell fishermen right outside and bringing in their catches. That's about as fresh as it's going to get. That's about as fresh as it's going to get. Service is also good. Our waiter was super friendly,. professional and polite, he got the order in for drinks and for food quickly. Not as quick on refills, however. The food came out reasonably fast as well, even though it was very busy inside. Here's where things go from a four or five star to a three star review. I would have to guess that a place like this makes a ton of clam cakes. If this was what I was basing everything on it would have been a 1 or 2 star review. The clam cakes were dark and overcooked in the outside. Inside was mushy and flavorless. It was pretty clear to me that the oil needed to be changed in the fryer and it was too hot as well. Very disappointing. The Manhattan chowder was better than the almost inedible clam cakes. It was tasty. Plenty of clams. Small cut up potatoes and a tasty broth. The chicken parm sandwich got good reviews as far as sauce goes. That was the highlight of the sandwich from all reports. It looked a little too cheesy from where I was sitting. I heard the bread was soggy pretty quickly as well. They gave a very generous portion of pretty good fries along with the sandwich. I had a few of those and they were quite good. Overall, I think it's a good, not great spot. Lots of friendly, happy people inside. Well appointed and super clean. A good menu with lots of choices. The food, however was average for most things and terrible for the clam cakes. I'm guessing on another day I would not have the same issue, but I probably won't be back anytime soon to find out. Food was Ok. I came here for steamers and it somewhat satisfied my craving. They were quite small and the water to clean them off with was very DARK. I enjoyed their fried chicken wings...ordered it plain with sauce on the side. Got some stuffies too and they were a bit soggy which sucked bc they looked good coming out. My 12 year old son ordered lobster ($55) and he said the claw was off. I think he meant it was over cooked lol. But, the service was great. My sister and our spouses visited The Crow's Nest on a Saturday night and were glad we had reservations--there was already a line forming by 6 PM. We were seated promptly, and our server arrived quickly to take our drink orders. Throughout the meal, the service was truly outstanding--friendly, attentive, and efficient. The prices are reasonable, but the food was just okay. I ordered the baked Bay scallops with mashed potatoes and garlic knots. The garlic knots were actually the highlight of the meal--warm, garlicky, and delicious. Everything else was fine but not particularly memorable. Overall, I'm not sure how often I'd return, but I'm giving 4 stars primarily because of the excellent service. I've been many times, and the food is usually consistent and lower priced compared to some of the seafood restaurants in Newport, for instance. The service is usually good and attentive. They renovated the dining room and added a deck in the last decade. There are two dining rooms, a bar area and an outdoor patio. Unfortunately the view isn't so great but they make up for it with quality seafood and more reasonable prices. They also have half orders available. The fried scallops are very good. I'm not a huge fan of the clam chowder or clam cakes because it seems like they don't put enough potatoes in the chowder, and the came cakes were dry and hard. They get very busy here, and there's usually a line forming out the door. read more

Landed in Providence and wanted good seafood, my local friend recommended we eat here. We came at an odd hour, so it wasn't too full. The place is very traditional seafood diner by the harbor. The staffs were very friendly, lots of locals eating here. We got cherry stones clams, clam chowder, lobster roll with clam cakes, and the baked seafood platter which has baked scrod, stuffed shrimp, stuffed quahog, and clam casino. Man, everything was really fresh. The clam chowder was great, save some for the clam cakes to dip in. The lobster roll was plentiful, needed a tad bit more salt but still good. Plentiful and delicious offerings in the baked seafood platter. It came with some sides, we got rice and squash. Don't forget some Prosecco! It goes well with seafood. I still come her at least every month or more for lunch - always on a weekday and only for lunch. I live about 45 minutes away so never make it here for dinner. It is still one of my favorite places for lunch. As I said in my last updated review, I only like a few dishes. When I am craving one of those, I meet friends for lunch. The food is just OK except for a few things that are really good!. 1) Peel and Eat shrimp - MKT Price (currently $10.50) - Awesome. Big, cold, flavorful,  and served in a clam shell with cocktail sauce and lemon. 2) Clams Casino - $ 9.95 - Six to seven little necks broiled and stuffed with homemade dressing and topped with bacon. Just basic but very flavorful. 3) Hot rolls served while you wait - the best! 4) Lobster salad is pretty good, just uses claws and knuckles so not great. But it has a good flavor and you can get it on a roll or on greens. They also do a 1/2 lobster roll and chowder (MKT Price) The Clam chowder is not very good. I only eat the white and it always varies with still partially raw potatoes, or too much flour/thickening and a burnt flavor. You can request the soup of the day which is better. 5) Steamers -  1 1/2 lbs  of fresh steamed clams - MKT Price ($19.99 or more. Right now steamers are scarce and are going for $15.00 lb. at fish markets!!! They are well  washed so not much sand. I refuse to order them, as I can make them at home and the cost is usually much cheaper. However, my friend often gets as she can't cook them. So that is what I still recommend here! read more

Great fresh seafood in an awesome warm atmosphere. Overlooking the boats in the water there is outdoor and indoor seating. Service is awesome, very friendly, on top of everything.
