Went to see James yesterday. Just told him I wanted it darker and gave him free range on the cut (as long as I could still put it up. I am sooooo in love with my hair. We did a bob (I'll add a picture when I put some make up on my face lol). He was kind, funny and very good at what he does. My hair naturally pulls red (Irish ancestory) and there's no red in site (also part Cherokee so trying to get back to my roots). If you've read previous Yelp reviews, I would disregard them. Bought a Groupon and had zero expectations because of what I had read... I honestly was hesitant at first, but I was just desperately looking to get rid of my dead ends and tame my hair for the summer with a keratin treatment. Let me say one thing: James was GREAT. He was super friendly and he really knew how to work with my super coarse, 'asian' hair. I'm normally hesitant when it comes to cutting off a bit of length to my hair as I've always kept it long, but he did a fantastic job at layering and cutting my hair so that it really framed my face. When this took place I got a very rude man asking when I called, stating the he gets all the calls and has not heard my name. I had a groupon for this place for a partial foil. I made an appointment for 7/9/15 at 3 pm and show up on time. The receptionist told me that the guy doing my hair, Jason, just stepped out and will be right back. I wait 10 minutes and ask her if she knows when he is coming back, she calls him and says he wants to talk to me. I get on the phone and he says my appointment was at 2:30 (which it wasn't), he was extremely rude and said he has left for the day because he had scheduled another appointment at 4 for someone else in a different location. He refused to make a reschedule for me and told me to try and get a refund through groupon. Worst customer service ever. This has to had been the most disrespectful and unprofessional experience I've had with someone who is suppose to be a professional. I booked my hair appointment at Crowne Salon 3 days ago as a new client with MARK. Unfortunately, one of my family members has a medical emergency this afternoon so I had to cancel. I didn't mean to disrespect anyone as I'm aware that time is money. But the way Mark responded,he was not even understanding of my situation and if he didn't say " do not come into my salon or ever book an appointment here" I would have rescheduled. And while I understand that bringing a child to a hair appointment is not the norm, sometimes you have no choice. AVOID this terrible customer service!!! Kevin is amazing. I wish I could afford to fly to Dallas every month for his Brazilian blow outs. My hair was incredible and absolutely frizz free for weeks. Seriously, when I win the lottery, I'm hiring him as my personal stylist. He is also fun and friendly. He knows his stuff and is realistic about hair. I showed him a style I was considering. He examined my hair, which is on the thin size and has zero texture and showed me something that was much better suited for my hair. It is what it is, right? I found this salon after growing up in the area and years of frequenting just about every salon within a 5 mile radius for 20 years, and now I won't ever go anywhere else. Jason is truly talented, and a joy to spend time with every other month! He has been cutting, coloring, and doing keratin on my hair for over a year now, and my hair is in the BEST shape it has ever been in, and surprisingly it is not costing as much as the nearby salons that I used to visit for the same services. Jason cares about my hair, he isn't trying to sell me on something new every time I come in, but he will tell me honestly what needs to be done, what I'm doing wrong, and he is always spot on with what I already felt were my particular hair issues. Even a few days before I'm about to go in to see Jason, when I'm in need of a trim, or I'm due for color, I still get compliments from people telling me my hair is flawless, or that I should be in a shampoo commercial (not kidding, this happened to me on Thursday of this week!). I trust Jason wholeheartedly, and I am so glad I have found my salon for life! He definitely knows hair and does the best color I have seen on just about anyone, and he's got some really great people in his salon that do wonderful work as well! read more

I am so upset that I wasted my time and money here. I've been getting trims regularly because I wanted long healthy hair for my wedding and now I'll be lucky if it is even at the length it was at before by then. My fiancé was so upset as well and even wanted to call and complain. I came here to see James for a keratin blowout and trim. He took 6 inches off my hair! I had asked for a trim and side swept bangs not for my hair to be chopped off! When I noticed how much hair he was taking off he tried to tell me he didn't take a lot off. When I kept insisting that he cut to much off he called me high maintenance and told me it will grow back. I got a groupon for a wash cut and brazillian blowout for $79.00 from MARK MORGAN. Hands down the worst experience of my life. He didn't consult me whatsoever, was aggressive when doing my hair, acted strange (not talking and then randomly outbursting about his dead relatives) and after the blowout which he did with THE STRAIGHTENER UNPLUGGED HALF THE TIME he immediately started chopping off my hair! I turned around shocked because I hadn't told him how much I wanted off or anything, and when I told him a differing amount than the one he wanted he refused to cut it. I had THE worse experience in my 40 years of going to salons here. I had wanted to use a Groupon for cut, keratin and style. Im new to Dallas so looking for new salon. Wanted to come in on Sat so I called and got an appointment. Within 10 min I questioned if the girl cutting my hair knew what she was doing or even had a license when I noticed a big chunk missing out of my hair. Two other stylist had to come help her once I told her "I'm really uncomfortable with you doing anything else with my hair". Male stylist comes over and I ask him "how are you going to fix this chunk missing from my hair" he rudely replied "I don't have a magic wand" as he continued to try to fix it. At that point I said "just finish blow drying it" so I could leave. The "keratin" was 3 squirts out of a bottle. I'm pretty sure that doesn't qualify as even a mini-keratin! At check out I asked him "is she even licensed"? And he replied "you wanted an appointment on Saturday so I got you in on Saturday". I am writing this review hoping to save you some money or just advise caution before buying this voucher. I purchased upon browsing the reviews and was hopeful because most ratings were 4+ stars, but after visiting I was highly disappointed. had a highly unprofessional experience. First off, Kat was almost an hour late to my appointment, what was supposed to be a 3 hour appointment lasted almost 5. I had purchased a babylights voucher and wanted more of a partial highlight, when I told her about what I wanted she said that it could not be done simply as I had a previous balayage that had not been done since November which it had grown out (keep in mind), she said it would be an additional $65 to color correct, which I was okay with. She never gave any indication how long it would take, but she was truly taking her time (which isn't an issue, but I was not made aware in the first place). She not only took her lunch break during my appointment, but left me sitting almost an hour with bleach in my hair. She also took two other people during my appointment. One of her clients was a friend of hers who secretly told me to the side about the time Kat ruined her hair (early indication I should have ran). After she finally found time to finish my hair, she turns my around in the chair and will not let me see the final result of cut and color till the end. (Another indicator) After rinsing my hair I guess she realized she made some mistakes and goes back and puts more bleach in my hair, this is what fried my hair. I had also mentioned wanting bangs, but before I could change my mind she chopped my hair. After she had finished she turned me around in the mirror and o wanted to cry. Kat ruined my hair, what I asked for was in no way what she gave me. My hair was black with white to yellow streaks, Fried almost to the root and bangs that are choppy, thin, and uneven. Her friend and the stylist next her looked at me in shock as they knew how awful it looked. She proceeded to take photos because she truly believed it looked good. When I called the salon to express my concerns and complaints, they put me on the phone with Kat and she proceeded to blame me and curse me out for having bad hair before hand (haven't had my hair done since November) when I told her what her friend had said, she thought I was lying... After a heated discussion demanding a refund it took days for her too give me my money back. I had to stop by the salon to yet again complain. Honestly probably the most unbelievable part about this appointment was she pulled out her used eyelash spoolie brush she uses on her lash extensions and tells me to use it. I just can't fathom how unprofessional someone can be the way she was. I will be posting what I asked for and what she gave me. I'm just advising you before you purchase this voucher. read more

The most unbelievably bad hair cut i've had in my life...hate to use superlatives but in this case, its appropriate. For example, The stylist actually took a handful of my hair and just cut it around each ear...no styling just cutting massive chunks off in one cut. I felt like prisoner #237 in the line to get my hair cut. :-\ My family decided that i'd be better off if i shaved my head and my husband has refused to be seen in public with me until i get it fixed. I truly am not one to write reviews, whether they're positive or negative. But I walked away rather disappointed in what I got. I purchased the groupon for Cut, Mini Keratin and Style with Kat. First, I just want to say that booking with Kat means the appointment will take twice as long as you expect. I don't mind the time as long as it's communicated to me beforehand. Kat originally told me an hour and the whole visit ended up being 2.5 hours. It felt as if she didn't have much urgency. Not I wanted her to rush but she was truly taking her time. Secondly, I had asked to cut off my dead ends and maintain as much length as I could with long layers. What I walked away with was a few shorter pieces in the front and then a completely straight cut in the back, without any layering whatsoever. I had also mentioned wanting bangs, which she never seemed to remember. By the end of the cut I had been there for so long I didn't have time to request it again. I understand she was newer but I felt as if I had clearly communicated what I wanted and I walked away with something totally different. Being new in Dallas, wanting to find a good new look, as well as a forever stylist I was quite disappointed. I will say there was a stylist working next to me (didn't catch his name but he had the longer blonde hair and the nice nails) and he did a phenomenal job on his client. I'm confused by all the negative remarks concerning Mark Morgan, the celebrity stylist from NYC. I personally think that the women in the Dallas area should be thrilled that someone of his caliber has chosen our city to bring his talents to. I have many family members in Carrolton, Ft Worth & Dallas & I have recommended they all come see Mark for all their hair care needs, be it cut, color, extensions, whatever they need done, he is the master of his trade. Some of my family members have been involved in the Dallas entertainment business for generations. They have & still do include such things as Children's Theater, the Summer filled with Broadway shows, not to mention the TV & movie industry that has made its way to our great city. I feel more than confident in referring all of the people involved in the theater arts of Dallas, as well as the men & women of hit TV shows filmed in the Dallas area, all the way up to major movie stars who are in town filming hit after hit movie here in the Dallas area. I believe the people behind all of these negative reviews about Mark should come down off their own imagined pedestal & let a "real" Stylist show them just how beautiful their hair can be. I feel it is absolutely disgusting, disrespectful & ignorant to attack someone based on their sexuality. The fact that Mark is gay, does not define or have any bearing on the type of stylist he is. If anything I've always preferred to have a man do my hair & if he happens to be gay, all the better. He knows what both men & women appreciate in a hair style & how to make us all look our best. Initially followed a wonderful stylist to this location but after personal problems and being stood up yet another time, Beverly Bennett-Cannon noticed me patiently waiting and simply told me she'd take care of me even though I wasn't her client. She fit me into her busy Sat schedule (which was a huge relief!) and Bev has been taking care of me ever since. Top notch service and personalized care ALL around. The salon also has a wonderful neighborhood feel; chatty, busy and bustling most Saturdays. All independent stylists that create a melange of interesting, fun characters. I had a very great experience here, despite the negative reviews. While I did have to call a separate line for The Groupon customers, I was immediately called back by Jason within six hours. Although eat told me he could not fit me in for the date and time I requested, he did tell me that the stylist Barbara would be able to accommodate me. I called her, and she fit me in at the date and time I requested. When I met Barbara I immediately knew I was in good hands. She talked me through every step of the way, and listened to everything that I had to say and wanted about my haircut. I have very long, thick, but fine hair, and I'm always afraid to cut it drastically in anyway. She assured me that she would only give me what I wanted, and as she was cutting my hair, she explained to me about many aspects of it.
