I think that Harvester have upped their game, and the help yourself salad bar is a winner. Worth a visit early evening. Returned - 21/7/09 In time for the early bird menu. You get what you pay for. The spit roast chicken looks good value, but it can be overcooked, which one was and returned, and replaced very quickly. I think my wife's was undercooked, and she suffered the next day, believing that she had swine flu. I had the gammon, and two eggs, nothing special, and priced at £4.99, plus salad bar, value for money. One of kids chicken was quite tough on one side, so presumably left to one side and kept warm. They were happy to combine the children's sweet (jelly and ice cream), paid for the two. Staff very friendly, and busy, and can sometimes forget a request. At our visit the gent's toilets were really discusting. I could only allow my boy to use one of the WCs. There was wet all over the floor near the urinals. One of the WCs could be flush sorry too much detail.. This is something they really need to get right.

It worked out perfectly that we came here on a Sunday; surely, the food can only be as good as their Sunday roast? We all shared the appetizer platter (sweet chilli chicken skewers, lamb & balsamic koftas, tonkatsu-inspired pulled pork croquettes, aioli and chorizo topped flatbread). The chicken skewers were good, lamb koftas very good, pulled pork croquettes were weird and too sweet, flatbread was burnt and flavorless. No chorizo to be found. For my main, I decided on the roast beef from their Sunday roast menu. It came with smoked beef-dripping roasted potatoes, honey-glazed carrots and parsnips, seasonal greens, Yorkshire pudding & bottomless gravy. This was a great roast, or rather, a proper Sunday roast! Make sure to ask for horseradish as it pairs very nicely with the beef. Use the Yorkshire pudding to sop up the gravy (ahhh, so is THIS what you do with Yorkshire pudding...). Service was friendly and very efficient. They also have a kid's menu, so you know it's another family friendly pub.

The accompaniments were a little on the small side and didn't fill as they were vegetables however next time I would order a side.. We arrived at half 6 on a Friday, a little early for dining but the place was really quite busy. We were greeted, seated and introduced to our waitress in an incredibly timely and friendly manner. We actually had two serving staff as one was in training so her trainer took a seat with us and engaged in a bit of light banter while she went through the menu. Drinks ordered, food ordered, drinks served and then we were given an apology for the delay in our food arriving - much to our confusion. It can't have been more than 20 minutes. Not that I'm complaining the level of attention shown by the veritable army of servers was really impressive. I went for a black and blue burger with sweet potato fries coupled with a portion of macaroni cheese and Vicky opted for the steak (you get a voucher for a free main around your birthday, normally that wouldn't include steak but there's no restrictions here). The burger was good, although the bread to meat ratio was way off in my opinion, and the accompanying Cajun dip, sweet potato fries and macaroni cheese with bacon were all delicious. The steak was great and very well cooked. We were offered dessert, although there isn't technically a dessert menu - instead the waitress reeled off the desserts available and we were left to ponder them with no reference. I thought that a bit weird. In all honesty after that much food neither of us could stomach dessert so we left it at that. The food was good, the service was good it's just the price of the place that lets it down a bit. I don't mind paying for good food but the best part of £15 for a burger that didn't come close to the best I've had seems way too high. Needless to say though I will probably be back, although I'll be on the hunt for vouchers as I wouldn't want to pay full whack there. If I could I would give it 3.75 stars but as it is I've bumped it up to 4 as it's more than a 3 star venue.

I must say my experience at Coast to Coast conflicts directly with other reviews on this site…read more A friend and I went for dinner there on a Monday night after work and the staff were very helpful. When I first got there, I was guided to the table at which my friend was sat by the attending manager. Drinks orders were taken within minutes and thanks to me visiting the Coast to Coast website before our meal and signing up to their mailing list, my friend and I got a free cocktail using my free cocktail voucher too. The cocktails were of decent quality and were definitely not lacking in the alcohol content! The prices were not unusual for cocktails either - a mojito was about £6. For dinner, I ordered a club sandwich with sweet potato fries which was delicious. The portions are generous to say the least and I didn't think the £12.55 price tag attached was unreasonable. The food arrived quickly and we both ate so much that we physically couldn't manage a dessert, which also reduced the bill! Throughout our meal, the staff were attentive and were keen to help us with anything else we might need. The decor is in the typical American style with pictures and decorations all round, and the music also fits with the theme. The toilets were clean and nicely presented, though I couldn't make the soap work but that might just have been me! My friend and I stayed for another drink after dinner and were not asked to leave or move despite the fact that the restaurant was getting busy, which we were both happy with. Overall, I was pleased with my experience and I would definitely come back.

On entering, the restaurant was quite full and a birthday party was in evident. We had to wait a little while whilst our table was ready and ordered drinks at the bar. It was easy for the drinks to be added to bill, which saved messing about with separate payments. We decided to just order mains (I'll come onto the pudding later). A young lady explained the specials' menu and some of the dishes which was handy. Unfortunately, one of the starter items was no longer available off the specials' menu. The bill was made up of the following: 1 pint of Moretti - £5.90 1 250ml of Chardonnay - £9.90 1 Pork Ciabatta - £12.50 1 "Rollover Roast" - Beef - "23.50 1 Apple and Berry Crumble with custard - £8.50 1 125ml of Chardonnay - £5.20 Total = £65.50. The rollover roast was served with roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding, with gravy over the meat. A mix of vegetables was served separately with a jug of gravy (delicious). I enjoyed it all. The vegetables were cooked just right, especially the broccoli. The pork ciabatta - My wife commented that the pork was lovely, but the ciabatta was difficult to bite into, and she left one part. The crumble - Came out extremely hot. It was clear that the custard had the addition of vanilla and tasted good. I could have done with more :-). The crumble topping was great and reminded me of granola. I battled as best as I could, but my eyes had been bigger than my stomach and I was stuffed. I'm a bit of a sucker for any fruit crumble. Shame. The service was attentive given how busy they were in the restaurant. Forgot to mention the rocking table; I corrected it by putting my serviette under the leg.... I was spotted and this was resolved with a wedge, but it took two attempts. One of my dislikes are rocking tables. However, as I say, it was resolved. Hopefully, my review puts matters right compared to the one left on the 29 Jun 2014. Would I return? Yes!

We were welcomed in which was lovely and seated at our table. Not sure what has changed, but it wasn't a positive experience from start to finish. The service was poor, we waited ages to be served, we waited a long time for food. Once the food arrived we were shocked at the portion size for the price we were going to pay. I had to ask for our order to be taken more than once as the waitress had forgotten to come back to us, we complained about the level of service several times and nothing improved due to being short of staff. The maitre'd was of no value in resolving the issues raised and appeared inexperienced in how to deal with a complaint. Really disappointing as i love coming here for the drinks. The only positive thing were actually the drinks they were lovely and arrived promptly. They even gave us hot water with fresh mint leaves for mint tea. Its a shame to say but i wouldn't recommend this place for food. I don't think this is a one off either as after speaking to my friend, she also experienced the same with poor service before! The only reason this is a two is because they took some money off the bill and the drinks in the pub are good.
