My most recent visit was for a light lunch with a colleague, so we each had a pint of Marston's Burton Bitter, and we had a crab and prawn sandwich and a Parma ham, and mozzarella sandwich, sharing a bow of chips between us. This light lunch was delicious, the service was good and the bill, including a large tomato juice, was £26.60. A firm favourite and we'll be back again.

The service was poor, we waited ages to be served, we waited a long time for food. Once the food arrived we were shocked at the portion size for the price we were going to pay. I had to ask for our order to be taken more than once as the waitress had forgotten to come back to us, we complained about the level of service several times and nothing improved due to being short of staff. The maitre'd was of no value in resolving the issues raised and appeared inexperienced in how to deal with a complaint. Really disappointing as i love coming here for the drinks. The only positive thing were actually the drinks they were lovely and arrived promptly. They even gave us hot water with fresh mint leaves for mint tea. Its a shame to say but i wouldn't recommend this place for food. I don't think this is a one off either as after speaking to my friend, she also experienced the same with poor service before! The only reason this is a two is because they took some money off the bill and the drinks in the pub are good.

On entering through a fairly plain black door you walk upstairs to find yourself in a lovely room filled with quirky lighting, mis-matched chairs, tables and sofas and with loads of art by local artists on the walls, (most of it for sale). The venue regularly hosts gigs, film nights and quizzes with a different theme each week. Last time I did a film quiz there, one of the rounds was 'who can draw the best picture of Steve Buscemi'! The bar is well stocked with a good range of beers, wine and spirits and also sells snacks like crisps and nuts. It also has a really great sound system and a small area that serves as a stage and dance floor. I went to Scary Canary last night for a birthday party and had a great evening, I would really recommend it as an alternative to all of the chain / old man pubs that are in Stourbridge.

Whilst I understand we cannot please everybody we have a large number of satisfied repeat customers who eat here 3-4 times a week, week in week out. As a result of feedback given we no longer take bookings and in reference to table service it does clearly state on 2 different boards that customers are to order at the bar. Please rest assure we take all feedback as constructive regardless of how negative a review is written. Also in regards to no beer on the 24th Dec this is totally incorrect as we had Hobgoblin our guest beer on and banks mild, the only cask not on was banks bitter. Thank you for feedback

If you need somewhere local to Stourbridge Junction railway station or St. Mary's church (in my case), this is the place... Ruth and Pete are super-friendly and so nice. They let me check in a tad early so I could drop my bags and make my self presentable for an afternoon funeral service at St. Mary's. The room I stayed in was perfectly sized for me with my little suitcase. If you're coming with shed-loads of luggage, you'll want to leave some in the car. There was a tray with plenty of tea and coffee and a cute little pod coffee machine with lots of different types of coffee as well as the traditional kettle. There is a small wardrobe and some drawers for your stuff. The bathroom has a shower stall (no bathtub) and holds one person at a time. The bed is flanked by a bedside table on each side (something that is starting to be a rarity - especially in the US) with plenty of outlets and USB plugs all around the room. No digging behind furniture for outlets here!! If you're here for a function, come early to snag a parking spot outside - there are only a few. There is a park and ride behind the station, but I don't know their hours.

I had to ask her to repeat the reason I couldn`t order a pint of Guinness and she seemed to spit the words out at me as if she really did not want to be there. After I had paid I stood wondering where I should receive the rolls and she finally said "we`ll bring it over". The rolls arrived reasonably fast but she mumbled something along the lines "there ya go" and promptly walked off. On leaving we walked past her totally engrossed in playing on her mobile. I hope this is not indicative of the service there daily as the pub itself is really quite nice inside but I will never set foot in the place again though. I have since wondered if my initial approach to her was wrong or in some way misconstrued, but I cannot in all honesty think it was.
