At this point we had given up on the day and just whatever was placed infront of us. Not the best food in the world. The service was OK, and the staff friendly enough, but not the place I like to eat. Branded pubs just don't do it for me normally. This was one I'd decide not to visit again.

I told the waitress this when placing the order to emphasise the point. I'd had a similar experience elsewhere, where I was presented with cauliflower cheese on my plate, but that was my fault as I didn't mention the allergy. This time I was pretty emphatic. I find that if I forget to mention it then it comes on something I'm least expecting. So, even if I look an idiot for saying it, for food that shouldn't have cheese, I still say. So, my fillet steak (£28) came out with the lettuce covered with Parmesan shavings. It was sent back. Then later it was taken off the bill as a gesture. The steak was lovely, but the person insisted. Good customer service move. However, what if my allergy had been more serious and the ingredient had not been as obvious, for example, peanut allergy or lactose allergy. A lad died in Italy recently because of the latter. A cautionary story. Please be aware. Service was a bit hit and miss. Experience staff know to look at tables, so that the customer can catch their eye. I found this a bit lacking on this visit. Added to which a person presented us with our starters, but failed to realise that we didn't have any knives and forks. We had to wait until I could catch their eye. Similarly, it was easier to go to the bar to ask for the glass of red to go with my steak than get the attention of the waiting staff. As I said at the beginning I like The Brook Inn, and I will return.

There are three parts to it, the central pub, a small cafe as you enter and the restaurant in the rear. None of it is large, and all quite cozy. Since the restaurant seemed fairly full of patrons were opted for seats in the pub area. It was fun to watch all the locals enjoying a beer and having some fun. An occasional dog added some energy and involvement too. I ordered a burger and oh my goodness, as is usual in England the beef was incredibly fresh and tasty, and the entirety delicious. They heap cheese and lettuce, tomato, onion and with a double patty it is burger heaven! Of course it comes with fries. Having a local beer was great and the service was friendly and top notch. We absolutely enjoyed the meal. The only downside was the level of noise, but hey it's a pub.

A few wines by the glass as well as gin, whiskey and such. Good was very good. Generous portions. Chips were excellent, crispy on the outside. We have ham, pulled pork, a bacon and Brie sandwich and a burger - everyone cleaned their plate. I would definitely recommend it.

On entering, the restaurant was quite full and a birthday party was in evident. We had to wait a little while whilst our table was ready and ordered drinks at the bar. Shame. The service was attentive given how busy they were in the restaurant. Forgot to mention the rocking table; I corrected it by putting my serviette under the leg.... I was spotted and this was resolved with a wedge, but it took two attempts. One of my dislikes are rocking tables. However, as I say, it was resolved. It's one of two pubs in Rednal, so you can see why the place is so popular. Drinks are quite cheap and standard to most pubs that you'd find in the city centre, while choices are much wider, and I managed to get a glass of Stone's Green Ginger Wine, although, I don't think most customers ask for this, because the staff were very confused as to how much it cost, and how much to pour in a glass! There's a great outdoor area full of umbrella shades for a hot summers day, and heat lamps if it gets a little too cold (and I was cold, even though it's June!)
