Purser Family Park - Walking trail

Purser Family Park

Asking personal questions like where do you live? Where do you work? Or even a small group standing on the middle of the sidewalk creating a chokepoint to force direct engagement. I know it takes courage and guts to approach a woman but ganging up on a woman making her feel uncomfortable is a, NO! There was a group of white males this summer (2025) peacocking in a family park with women and children, running with their shirts off. It's TX and the summers are brutally, hot but I have never seen men out there like that and approaching women inappropriately with their shirts off. That new sun will burn the skin off your back & chest without proper covering. They definitely were not US Army or military. Additionally, there is also a school aged little white boy on a scooter middle school aged out there with those men & women in the of the middle of the school day out taking photos and following. Seems like some kind of gang or scheme to monitor women & possibly harm or take advantage of women & young girls. Group of men and women posted in vehicles and in the park watching & lurking & following. They stage strategically and use the kid on the scooter as well to track & monitor. Just be careful, just got weirdo vibes out in the park over the last several months. I know the park can be a space to meet people but this gives off creep vibes and predators. I don't want to be driven off from my community park that I love, but I no longer feel safe. Find alternative locations to workout or walk your dog. BE SAFE! Get some bear or pepper spray!

It was a beautiful November afternoon with temps in the low 80's so we took the toddlers to run and…read moreplay in the park. A lot of the playground equipment is out in the sun. There aren't a lot of shady spots. This park isn't the type with lots of picnic tables, benches and pavilions. It's centered mainly around kid play and the kids definitely enjoyed it. In addition to a regular swing set and the set for babies and toddlers they also have swings designed for children with special needs in 2 sizes up to 12 years old. That's pretty wonderful.

This is a decent sized park. Today was my first time there. It is near the post office in Hewitt…read more There is a good sized parking lot by the track as well as bleachers and a frisbee golf course. The walking path is made of concrete and there isn't any large trees. My wife had been there before and said that the creek or ditch appeared filled in. There was some seating that was covered and I noticed quite a few BBQ pits as well. I liked the quantity of picnic tables. It is a good track but not much to see so I enjoyed talking w my wife. Unlike other parks this trail had little to no incline and was easy to walk since it was concrete. That is helpful since I am still recovering from surgery. I would recommend this walking path for people who are perhaps a bit unsteady on their feet like me w surgery or other reasons possibly. The only complaint I might have is the lack of larger trees and that means during summer it would be wise if me to go in earlier or later hours. All in all good park. They have portable potties not permanent ones if that makes a difference to ya!!!

We struggled finding the best place to park but once we found the course it was all up from there…read more The course is nice, it's in the middle of the woods. Challenging course, long holes, lots of trees and tall grass you'll have to go find your disc in should you stray from the fairway.

Simply put... one of the most ecological and innovative courses in Texas…read more *Disclaimer* ~I was personally involved in helping get this course built, but the accolades are all honest. So go see for yourself to prove me wrong. ;o)~ It took nearly one year to complete and it was well worth the wait. The opening of the newest and most innovative disc golf course within a city park of Austin, Texas ended the nearly 20 year drought of not having a new course built in a city owned park. The disc golf course is located just east of downtown Austin and south of the popular Lady Bird Lake. It resides in an area that is known for softball fields, sand volleyball courts, bicycle trails and jogging paths. The course was built over the time of one year and easily integrated with all of the active amenities, parking areas, local facilities, and it assured connections with the trails and paths for local residents and those in the collegiate housing that is also near to the area. The Roy G. Guerrero Disc Golf Course encompasses a playing area that is over 2 miles long, filled with 18 baskets, and mostly contains dual tee pads to accommodate both Pros and Amateurs alike. So bring your water and your energy to train on a great course while improving your game. PROS for the Course: - defined fairways and solitude of play: no worries about getting hit by a stray disc - concrete tee pads with paver stone edges: provides stability and greatly reduces erosion issues - all materials from the site were used/recycled on the site for mulching and rock walking paths - water runoff/drainage was addressed to prevent unneeded erosion issues (hence, rock walls and barriers) - each basket has a 4ft x 1in rubber composite pad that prevents dig outs from when you remove your disc from the basket, pivot, and walk away - shade and lots of it - double helix flight paths for the fairways to accommodate left/right handed players - accessibility: trails to/thru the course connecting from bus stops/bike paths/collegiate housing give access to many people - brings great usage to an under served area and uses the land very well CONS (if you needed some) - limited water source/toilet facilities in the area now that the park WILL be popular - need a large trash receptacle in the parking lot to accommodate the people who cannot keep trash in their car POINTS OF INTEREST - you don't have to play to see the beauty, walk the course and look for the deer and wildlife - there are NO TRASH CANS on the course. This was intentional because the PARD has limited resources to send employees there, also, this was ruin the serenity of the course having containers sticking out like sore thumbs. Plus, the traffic needed to empty these cans would place an undue hardship on the course, by default, making roads across the landscape and defeating the purpose. *If you can bring it in, why not BRING IT OUT!* Overall, TOP NOTCH, GREAT COURSE. Bring your Big Technical Arm for a Risk vs Reward system that will pay off with great benefits.
