Great experience as always! We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy and felt comfortable. We love trying a little something from each vendor starting with drinks at the Pharmacy Bar. These drinks are always made with care, unique and taste so yummy. Next, we walk around and decide which 3 places to go to, one being Scratch ice cream of course to end the night. We got 6 empanadas for $18 at the Capybara cafe and my favorite was actually the vegan empanada, with potatoes and veggies in it. We then shared two sushi rolls. You can't go wrong with what you order. The customer service at Awi Sushi is by far the best and they make great rolls! Ending the night with Scratch ice cream, rounds out the experience and is so tasty and I recommend getting a smaller cup than you think, they are very generous! read more

Stopped by here for dinner on our way to Oriental Theater and it was a solid experience. There are a handful of food options with a good variety of cuisines and drinks. Makes it a good spot if you can't decide as a group where to go without it being a huge place like the public market or 3rd street market hall. Nice and cozy and there are events and specials going on throughout the week. I had the Brr Berry drink from the Pharmacy and quesobirria from The Mex Avenue. Service at both spots was excellent and the food and drinks were delish. It's random, but I really appreciated the Mex Ave put the cilantro on the side instead of sprinkling/mixing it in. As a cilantro hater, it can make or break a dish for me. Overall a very good experience. Pro tip, if you need parking, just go to the Whole Foods garage. We have ordered food from vendors at this food court several times in the last few years. The list of vendors has almost completely changed since we first visited it over 4 years ago, but there are always at least a couple that are to our liking. It recently hosted a Foodie Passport event that let the customer get one dish from basically every vendor for a total of $50. The choice of food from each vendor was predetermined for the event. Even though the quantity of each dish was small, the cumulative amount of food from 6 different food vendors was quite large and enough for two meals. Here is my review of the dishes we tired. --The Tonkotsu Ramen from Kawa was very tasty but a bit too salty for us. We've visit Kawa's main restaurant multiple times and always liked their ramen and sushi. --The Creamy Basil Pesto Pasta from Noodle Me had both good taste and good texture. So, we expect to get food from the vendor again in the future. --The Southern Belle eggroll from Ready to Roll was very good. This is another vendor we expect to visit again. --The Termis vegan wrap seemed unique and also tasted good. We'll be glad to try other non-vegetarian dishes from the vendor next time. --The chicken and beef tacos from Mex Avenue had simple flavors and were fine. --The Yellow Coconut Curry Chicken Bowl from Nute's had tender chicken meat but was a bit blend. We prefer more flavorful curry dishes. --The gentleman at Scratch Ice Cream shop let us choose any of the flavors even though only one of the flavors was designated for the event. Who doesn't love a good food hall? Especially with someone like myself who is craving various tastes simultaneously. I call myself a grazer because I like to snack and snack and snack. It's even more convenient that I can sample different foods all in one place. This is a great place for a friend group who all have different preferences, or who like to share and taste what all there is to offer. Found Crossroads Collective during a Yelp event, and I was thoroughly impressed! I even liked the barbecue option, and I am not a barbecue girly. The food hall is also conveniently located by bars in the area, so you could grab some post- or pre-dinner drinks. I love a good food hall - and on day one in MKE I found this place that did not disappoint! The choices were diverse, so I think really anyone would be able to find a treat they would enjoy. In addition to the vendors, they also have a bar area and a water station which was perfect for my day of exploring the city. The space does loop around a bit, so on first glance it may look small, but turn the corner, because there is probably more to explore! For the warmer months, the outdoor seating was also perfect! I came to CrossRoad for Hot Wax and the chicken tenders were fire! Crispy, perfectly juicy, and just hit the spot. I wished these tenders came with free side of fries too, that would have made me give them a 5 stars. A little on the pricier side for 5 tiny tenders, but its fine. It's a food mall! This is a great use of this space which has been (as many eastsiders will remember) a rotation of unsuccessful restaurants over the years. We went during pandemic times so seats were spread out. Everyone was pretty respectful though and the place was busy without feeling overly full. Speaking of overly full...my biggest issue was where to eat! There was egg & flour, a peruvian restaurant ( sorry, can't remember the name), heavens gate bbq and "the pharmacy" a bar serving both alcoholic and non alcoholic concoctions that, while not all the restaurants in the place, where the particular places that caught my eye. I must have said out loud three times to my husband "this place is the best concept!" I mean, it really is. The culinary-driven food hall is home to eight different vendors offering a variety of food and drinks. You got pizza, you got ice cream, you got Indian food, coffee, pasta, Latin American cuisine, the list goes on. It's the perfect place to go when you and your husband can't agree on what to have for dinner ;) Yeah, that was us. What feels unique about this place is that it's hip and upscale, making it an enjoyable place to hang out for a bit. Plus (major bonus) there is a beautiful bar - cleverly named The Pharmacy - sprawling through the middle where you can enjoy some great cocktails, local beers, or fresh juices. We recently sat here and sipped on two delicious elixirs: a mezcal margarita of sorts, and a a tasty gin, lemony, Tom-Collins type of drink. The cocktail names clearly have slipped my mind, but you'll no doubt find something on their menu to enjoy. There's a QR code menu on the bar (and all tables) to put in an order that is brought right to ya when it's ready. It's very easy and efficient. Because there are so many vendors, naturally we had to try a few things out. We opted for Ruta's chicken curry, Triciclo Peru's empanadas, and Dia Bom's Chinese baos. I've been on the Collective once or twice but not for drinks. Frida has an amazing tomato bisque and grilled cheese which was perfect one day when I was freezing. But today I decided to venture to the Pharmacy. They have a small but nice selection of local beers as well as hard selter. Several cocktails and wines round out the menu. Noddle Me was underwhelming at best. I get what they are going for but it was a swing and miss. The only flavor here is bland. Perhaps the fact that this was takeout made the food unpalatable. Never been to a place like this, but basically, it's a "food court" type of building where you can order your food from any of the restaurants on your phone, and they bring it to your table. Super cool concept. I wasn't very hungry, so I just got this desert, which was called a strawberry bao bun. Not my cup of tea. What an interesting concept! It's like a food court, but not in a mall, and you can get pretty much anything you've ever wanted. Pizza? CHECK BBQ? CHECK Ice Cream? CHECK Empanadas? CHECK Beer? CHECK This space is so vastly different from the previous establishment here (RIP Replay). Plentiful indoor seating as well as outside tables. The cleanliness was outstanding - there were a few employees that were dedicated to just cleaning during my visit. I stopped by early afternoon on a weekday and it was fairly busy with the lunch crowd. I believe every seat at the "bar" stop was taken. Due to a crazy amount of construction in the area, parking was extremely limited. I wish this would have been around years ago, when North Avenue was a lively, go-to destination for shenanigans. I like here a lot now! My boyfriend and I went to Heavens Table BBQ for our anniversary dinner and the whole experience was very absolutely delightful. The owner & executive chef at Heavens Table is so friendly and he shared a few slices of beef brisket that were just out of the grill with us while working on our four meat plate. Every mouthful of meat is like a dream. Nice proportion of fat with crispy skin and juicy lean meat. The lean part of meat is very tender but keeps the nice little chewy texture and packed with flavors. The spicy cornbread is delicious. The cole slaw is refreshing, while the mac n cheese is just so so. We were so full at the end that we could not finish all the meat and really wish we could have picked two cole slaw as sides lol! The butternut squash soup at Frida tastes as good as it looks! The bread that comes with the soup is nicely toasted and very soft. The Spartichoke crepe that I got during my second visit to Beerline Cafe is absolutely delicious. The Shawarma sandwich is one of my favorites too. read more

I have been meaning to check out Crossroads for awhile now but finally made it today. It's an overcast Sunday afternoon and there wasn't a big crowd, so long lines for the vendors weren't a problem, but I did notice the space was small. Maybe that's part of the whole food-hall concept, but I don't know. I could see them getting really packed at lunch. Getting multiple food vendors in the same place is a nifty concept, but of course it only works if the food is good, so I had to check that out. I had a sandwich and soup combo from Frida. I got the shrimp roll and the mushroom bisque that was a daily special and not on the regular menu. The shrimp roll was tasty but the mayo in the shrimp salad made kind of a mess. The shrimp were big and there were plenty of them, though. But the winner in my eyes was the soup. It had some depth of flavor and did not remind me in the slightest of mushroom soup from a can. It was probably helped by the croutons and scallions it was topped with. If you get the soup and sandwich you can choose either chips or the focaccia that comes with the soup. I got the bread and regret nothing. It was great for soaking up the soup. If I go back I may try the schwarma from Felafel Guys or the barbecue at Heaven's Table, though the latter's price point makes more sense for 2 or more people than one. The plates I saw other people get from those places sure looked delicious. I was reasonably full from my meal, but I still checked out Scratch ice cream and it was great. They let me sample a few flavors and I ended up getting a scoop of Door county cherry and one of caramel with brownie because I couldn't choose just one. I don't even have the biggest sweet tooth but I would recommend trying them. There's a bar too selling cocktails and with a few beers on tap as well. Prices are on par for the "new" North Avenue area-not super high but not cheap either. There's a raw bar too but it didn't seem to be open today. I recommend checking Crossroads out. I think there's something there that will appeal to a lot of people. If the North Ave area is transforming this seems to be a positive addition to the neighborhood. read more

Delivery to the rescue I've stopped at crossroads before but it's super pain now to head out for covid lunches so their delivery has really saved the day. I've done delivery with them a few times now and it's top notch as they handle it themselves without the use of other drivers. The online ordering system is great and I like that you can pick from any of the vendors at the food hall (+1 for ice cream) to bundle up on goods. Pricing is reasonable and delivery is fast.
