They still have 5 or so vendors though some have changed since the last time I was in. We were there to stop by Tangled Noodles (which was good!) but I noticed a shawarma spot as well that I'm hoping to stop by soon. The dining room was impeccably clean with both low and high seating. Still a nice little spot but wondering if delivery and takeout are keeping them afloat--or maybe it was just the Friday evening timing?

I was disappointed to see that some stores had relocated, but I was happy to see a lot of familiar stores prospering. I have always enjoyed ambience and aromas while walking the main corridor. The entire mall is blessed with staff that is very Wisconsin friendly. All were helpful in helping our small group find and direct us to the appropriate stores to make our purchases. We needed some special products and because of their help we were able to locate them. As we walked in the main corridor staff members were saying hello and giving out samples, including food and fragrances. The mall staff/security were very helpful also. We were trying to find the best place to stand to get public transportation. He not only told us, but he took us there and stayed with us until public transportation arrived. He was the perfect representative for Southridge Mall! Great stores such as Macy's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Starbucks, Mrs Fields, Cinnabon, Foot locker, Claire's, JCPenney and many others are all located at this mall. They're undergoing renovation but it is worth a trip. Easy parking in the front or behind for those that decide to drive. Public transportation from buses to trains have stops located near entrances. I hope new stores will find their way to this location.

But had to do a ten minute detour at the child play area. This was AMAZING and we will always stop if we pass by during any road trips for a bathroom and fun break. My son loved the toddler play area and I had to bribe him out with a pretzel. This is my rating based on the potential that I'm seeing with the redevelopment of this mall. Over…read moretime, this mall has generally been a good spot to gather with a quality set of stores, though there's definitely a lot more competition nearby with good options in all of the surrounding shopping centers that cover all the different varieties of shops and restaurants. With lots of indoor malls closing nearby, this setup has become a bit more of a rarity, and personally I still like having a large spot with furniture to sit down at when I need to rest, a climate controlled area for when it's too hot or cold outside, and lots of fun spots to do seasonal pictures. With Hawthorn 2.0, I'm quite excited for what is to come. It looks like there will be a fresh set of solid anchors like Perry's Steakhouse, AMC, Dave & Busters, Macy's, etc. If this develops similarly to Randhurst, this would be a great spot to gather in Vernon Hills. Even before this is complete however, Hawthorn Mall has retained more quality tenants and has an overall cleaner and more modern look than some of the other indoor malls nearby. With the next closest similar offering being Woodfield Mall, this is still a fairly unique offering.
