The first thing a diner sees upon walking in is a case full of small cupcakes, and we often had to choose one for dessert. One of the best things about the place, though, is that the restaurant is in an old house, with tables set up in several rooms, so we often were able to eat in a room we didn't have to share. I bought my oldest child's first birthday cake here when we moved here in 1990. When that same child graduated from law school in another state, Janet's did the celebration cake and I drove that cake 15 hours to her graduation. I buy at least 6 cakes there every year and I literally have only had to complain about one cake! By my calculations, I have bought and devoured at least 186 cakes from Janet's! :) When you order a cake, they ask how many are you serving? I always tell them to make the sheet cake that feeds 15-20 people even though there are only 6 of us eating it. Why? Because every last morsel is consumed within days of bringing it home! I love that Janet's employee Joy knows my name whenever I call or pick up. I love that my business is appreciated and that even when good workers are hard to find, they are still open and doing business. My family would be so disappointed if anything happened to this business.
